Catching a little fox

Catching a little fox

Myriad Manifestations Sect.

It was morning, and the sun was shining down, casting soft shadows on the ground over the entire grove of trees and flowers.

A pale hand suddenly parted the dense grass in front of them, revealing a somewhat pale and sickly face.

"Huh? I just saw something run inside?"

The woman glanced around but found nothing suspicious, muttering to herself.

"Could my brain be malfunctioning again?" She tapped her forehead with her fingertip. It had only just started to feel better; she couldn't possibly be...

She has recently gained some new insights and is preparing to build a new field.

Just then, her gaze suddenly froze as a fiery red figure swiftly flew past in her peripheral vision.

She turned around instantly and pounced, her lips curving into a slight smile as her hand touched something soft: "Got you."

Chu Li also wanted to see what had come in. This place belonged to the backyard of the Wuxiang Palace, and apart from her master and her junior brothers and sisters, no one else would come here.

The fiery red figure was pinned beneath her. She scrambled to her feet and grabbed the little guy by the back of the neck.

It's actually a fox.

I don't know which disciple's spirit pet wandered off and ended up in this place.

Chu Li poked the fox's face: "Whose spirit pet are you? Don't you know you can't just come here like that?"

However, this fox was not easy to deal with. It bared its sharp teeth and opened its mouth to bite Chu Li's fingertips.

Chu Li quickly withdrew her finger, leaving the fox with nothing to bite.

Taking advantage of the fox's momentary daze, she quickly glanced left and right, and then smacked the fox on the back with lightning speed.

"Eek—" the fox let out a long cry, its fur standing on end. If you looked closely, you could see a very human-like sense of shame and anger in its eyes.

On the other hand, Chu Li's face showed a rare hint of satisfaction.

No one knew that she actually really liked furry spirit beasts, especially foxes, whose fur was soft to the touch, but this hobby ultimately undermined her dignity as the senior sister.

So she always sneaked around once, but since the fox stumbled upon her today, she shouldn't blame her for wanting to have a go.

She pursed her lips, subtly touching the fox's ear tip, sliding down its smooth back, and continuing towards its tail...

The fox struggled to climb out, but in Chu Li's eyes, its strength was merely a weak resistance, easily suppressed.

After an unknown amount of time, when Chu Li stood up from the grass again, the fox in her arms was already disheveled. It stopped struggling and stared at the sky with its eyes open.

Looking at the fox's messy fur, Chu Li felt inexplicably guilty. She thought that this was someone else's spirit pet after all, and she should just have her fun. She knew her limits.

If the fox knew what she was thinking, it would definitely curse her dozens of times in fox language. And that's considered to be having some sense of propriety?

Chu Li used her fingers as a comb to slowly smooth out the messy fox fur before leisurely strolling to the Wuxiang Palace. She happened to have something to discuss with the sect leader and wanted him to help her find the fox's owner.

The fox's fur was glossy and shiny, indicating that it had been carefully cared for.

A pair of hands picked up the fox, just in time for her to go find her master and see if he had a master who owned it.

The human and the fox stepped onto the suspension bridge. On the other side of the bridge was the Wuxiang Hall, which was the main hall of the Wanxiang Sect. The sect leader handled affairs and received guests there.

Speaking of suspension bridges, they are a unique feature of the Myriad Manifestations Sect. Every area within the sect is connected by suspension bridges, and these areas are thousands of meters above the actual ground.

It would be terrible if they fell.

At this moment, there were guests inside the Wuxiang Hall.

"May I ask where our sect's grandmaster is located?" the man with fluffy fox ears asked with a smile.

His eyes curved upwards at the corners, with a rich red hue at the edges, subtly curving along the curve of his eyes.

As he spoke, a hint of flirtatiousness seemed to inadvertently slip through his eyes.

"I cannot disclose my master's whereabouts."

Standing opposite the two fox clansmen was a woman with a serious expression. Her demeanor was dignified, and every gesture she made revealed her high level of cultivation.

But she refused the man's request without hesitation.

Putting aside her master's current special circumstances, even under normal circumstances, she would never reveal the slightest thing about her master.

The fox-clan man who had remained silent chuckled mockingly. He had already said that this move was completely useless against the sect leader of the Myriad Manifestations Sect.

The man who spoke let out a soft breath, and his tone finally returned to normal: "Then we'll leave A-Yi here with you. It wouldn't be bad for him to learn about the spatial domain. He's very interested in space."

As everyone knows, the most famous domain of the Grandmaster of the Myriad Manifestations Sect is space, but the Sect Master, faced with such a blatant hint, simply nodded: "Don't worry, he will become my disciple."

Normally, becoming a disciple of the Myriad Manifestations Sect Master would be ideal, but their main objective this time...

The two fox clansmen looked at each other, then decided to leave it to A-Yi's fate.

Just as they were about to reach the Wuxiang Palace, the little fox in Chu Li's arms suddenly started to struggle again.

Chu Li, who had just been deceived by its gentle appearance, relaxed her guard for a moment and was actually allowed to jump out of her arms.

She gasped and immediately reached for the scruff of its neck, but the fox, which had already been scratched once, was exceptionally clever. With a few nimble leaps, it left Chu Li behind.

But when Chu Li looked up again, her pupils suddenly contracted. "Little fox, stop right now, you can't go any further..."

But Nan Yi could no longer hear the sounds coming from behind him. All he knew was that he did not want to appear in front of anyone in this form.

As long as he runs fast, no one will know that the fox being held and rubbed in someone's arms is himself.

Perhaps because he hadn't fully adapted to the drop in his cultivation level, his once sharp senses had become much duller than before.

The fox ran on its four legs until it crashed into a wall. Only then did it come to its senses and turn around to find that it was surrounded by walls.

The original sunlight has disappeared, leaving only coldness and loneliness.

Chu Li watched the little fox's figure disappear from sight and sighed with a headache.

To the southwest of the Wuxiang Hall lies a training ground for the master's disciples and their group.

But this place is very special. Their master requires them to reach the Nascent Soul stage before they can enter, but she, as the eldest senior sister, is only at the Nascent Soul stage.

The others were even less of a concern, with several not even reaching the Nascent Soul stage.

So nobody really knows what's inside.

But that little fox was only at the Foundation Establishment stage. Although this training ground wouldn't endanger their lives, if the people inside couldn't break through it, they would only be spat out when the people inside were on the verge of death.

Chu Li didn't hesitate much, since she had caused this trouble after all, and she directly touched the stone tablet next to her with one hand.

The stone tablet had a large "禁" (forbidden) character written on it. I don't know if the little fox didn't see it, or... it just couldn't read?

In the blink of an eye, Chu Li found herself in a dimly lit space. Recalling the familiar fluctuations she had just felt, she couldn't help but sigh. Sure enough, this was yet another realm.

The unique feature of the Myriad Manifestations Sect is the construction of domains. Within a single sect, there are countless domains. Therefore, when she stepped into the so-called training ground and discovered that it was yet another domain, she felt it was within her expectations.

As a Nascent Soul cultivator, she quickly adapted to the darkness below. Now, her only worry was how to find the little fox.

It is said that this place was left by the master's master, who was the sect's grandmaster. Her specialty was spatial domain.

Then she and the little fox are likely not in the same space.

"Little fox!" she called out, her voice echoing continuously throughout the space.

She listened intently for a while, but heard no other sounds. She shook her head, guessing that she and the little fox had been separated into different spaces...

Since this is a training ground, there must be some kind of attack involved. She tensed up, holding her breath and waiting.

But after a long time, when the surroundings were empty, she couldn't hold back any longer. She could still manage on her side, but the fox was easily injured.

Just then, another idea flashed through her mind: perhaps she could give it a try—

A subtle fluctuation suddenly appeared at that moment. Chu Li's eyes lit up, and she almost instinctively reached out to touch it. In the next instant, the space fluctuated violently, and her figure disappeared from the spot.

In another space, Nan Yi was struggling to deal with a sudden attack, which was different from other mechanisms; it could appear from anywhere at any time.

His fox fur was almost inevitably stained with blood, but with each successive attack, his movements became increasingly agile.

He paused briefly after dodging another attack, but the next second, an even more intense barrage of attacks made it almost impossible for him to dodge with his current cultivation level.

This attack can even be enhanced!

As it drew closer, almost impossible for him to escape, that image suddenly flashed through his mind again in that instant.

In that instant of distraction, his movements froze, and several attacks, as if guided by a mind of their own, bypassed vital areas and instead targeted his limbs, abdomen, and other vulnerable parts.

He could almost picture himself covered in wounds, but he wasn't going to hide anymore—

The next moment, the sound of the wind stopped, and when he opened his eyes again, he saw a figure that he didn't recognize.

But the moment he saw that figure, a face immediately popped into his mind.

Chu Li breathed a sigh of relief as she watched the arrow barely stop. She wondered if her master had set something up for her inside, so that she wouldn't be attacked at all after entering.

However, in this case, it's actually a good thing; otherwise, she probably wouldn't have had time to save the fox.

She reached out her hand to the fox: "I'll take you out of here."

Nan Yi looked at the hand in front of him, but slowly took a step back. The wariness in his eyes was obvious to anyone.

Then he heard the woman in front of him chuckle softly, and a chill ran down his spine. Before he could even see her expression, he felt a force on the back of his neck—

Familiar yet Linghu Wei is dead.

Everything went inexplicably smoothly after that. Spatial fluctuations reappeared around her. She held the fox in one hand and touched it with the other. The two of them escaped from the domain and returned to the side of the stone tablet.

As the sun shone on the fox, the bloodstains became more visible, and Chu Li sighed softly.

She squatted down and placed the fox on her lap. Seeing the fox move as if it wanted to leave, she immediately moved her wrist.

A light red ribbon was tightly bound around the fox's limbs. If one ignored the ribbon's function, the color actually matched the fox's own color.

Chu Li carefully applied the herbs to the fox's wounds. "I forgot to bring my medicine today, so this will have to do. But these herbs are quite effective, and it should be better by tomorrow."

The fox made no sound or any other movement, presumably having given up on escaping.

Chu Li, carrying a fox that smelled of herbs, arrived at the entrance of the Wuxiang Palace and knocked on the door.

The door slowly opened inwards.

At this moment, only the sect leader was in the hall. After she saw who had entered, she hurriedly took a few steps forward: "Master..."

She gasped for breath, realizing she was still used to it, and almost called out her old name when she saw that face.

She coughed lightly to cover her embarrassment: "Um... Chu Li, what brings you here?"

"Master," the woman opposite her called out calmly.

But then he saw a look of fear on the sect leader's face and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with Master today? Is he feeling unwell?"

The sect leader barely managed to stabilize herself; what else could she do? She was so frightened by the word "master" that her mental state was almost shattered.

She steadied herself before asking, "Did you come here today for something?"

Chu Li held up the fox in her arms: "I met it by chance on the road. It might be a lost spirit pet of one of the disciples, so I was going to ask Master to take a look."

The sect leader leaned closer and examined the fox closely—its wounds had been properly treated and its fur had been groomed. Although it wasn't as shiny as usual, it wasn't bad either.

After waiting for a while, Chu Li asked again, "Master doesn't know either? Perhaps I should go again..."

As she spoke, she pondered, realizing that she had indeed underestimated the situation. Although the sect didn't have many spirit pets, the sect leader was usually busy and might not recognize every single one...

"No need—"

“He is my newly accepted disciple, and also your eighth junior brother.”
