Chapter 100 The World in the Cracks

"What's going on? How could this happen?" Everyone's body was covered in golden light and shadow, like flowing liquid metal, shining with a strange and dazzling light.

"This, this..." Bai Di seemed a little surprised. He took two steps forward, his whole body immersed in the ocean of light. He stood side by side with Blore, looking up at the tall stone tablet together.

In this ancient relic, a huge stone tablet stands in the center, like a silent giant, dwarfing the other stone tablets. The erosion of time has made it look slightly vicissitudes, but it still exudes a mysterious atmosphere.

Suddenly, black and gold runes slowly emerged from the stone tablet, gleaming with light, as if telling the people of an ancient secret. At the same time, red and black patterns began to appear on the bodies of the living dead submerged in the transparent space. These patterns spread across their bodies like burning flames.

At this moment, Bai Di appeared out of nowhere. He looked at everything happening in front of him, and a hint of excitement and anticipation flashed in his eyes.

He whispered, "Is it finally going to start?" Then he turned and ordered the people behind him, "Get ready, there may be a fierce battle soon!" After that, he waited quietly, his eyes revealing determination and resoluteness.

As time went on, the runes glowed brighter and brighter, and the patterns on the living dead became more and more clearly visible. The whole scene was filled with a mysterious and tense atmosphere that made people hold their breath.

Finally, when the light reached its peak, a loud bang was heard, and the stone tablet exploded, scattering fragments everywhere. At the same time, the space behind the living dead began to distort, as if something was about to emerge from it.

But in the end, everything fell into calm again. The person inside the stone tablet had patterns all over his body, but apart from this, he looked no different from a normal person. His eyes were black and white, and his gaze was bright and sharp, just like a newborn baby, except that his body shape didn't quite match.

Seeing this, Bai Di took out another bronze box. After the box came into contact with the golden light, it changed instantly, becoming as white as snow, with a delicate and smooth texture, just like porcelain.

At the same time, the box opened with a sound, and a faint golden liquid appeared under everyone's feet. The liquid was sticky and ripples were light. There was no choice but to climb onto the stone tablet first.

Blore used his hands and feet to climb up easily, and suddenly he saw a gap.

Blore was startled, and as if possessed, he crawled over and looked in carefully. Once he saw it, he couldn't take his eyes off it.

Hidden within that crevice was a village resembling a paradise. The houses were woven from strands of mycelium, arranged in a staggered pattern, exquisite and beautiful. These mycelium houses were not only beautiful but also blended seamlessly with the surrounding nature, as if they had grown from the earth.

The village is lush and vibrant with vegetation. Exotic flowers vie for beauty, exuding an enchanting fragrance. Tall trees tower over the village, providing a cool shade. Surrounding the village are lush farmlands, planted with a variety of crops, providing a rich source of food for the villagers.

In addition to plants, the village is home to a variety of animals. Fungus birds sing cheerfully on the branches, distinct butterflies dance among the flowers, and woven rabbits frolic in the grass, creating a harmonious ecological landscape. The villagers live in harmony with these animals, enjoying this peaceful and beautiful home together.

However, in this mysterious village, the faces of the villagers are covered by mycelium, as if they were wearing a thick mask, making it impossible to see their true appearance.

The situation has changed again, and everything seems to be different from before.

Their bodies seemed to be integrated with the mycelium, as if controlled by an invisible force, constantly stuffing handfuls of mycelium into their mouths, not even limited to the various plants and animals formed by the mycelium.

Each swallow was accompanied by a sigh of satisfaction. As the amount of mycelium they swallowed increased, the spherical fungus clusters behind them grew larger and larger, like giant balloons. The villagers' bodies didn't change noticeably, but their appetites grew, even gnawed at the land and houses, as if these were their only source of food.

Despite the aura of happiness surrounding them, this eerie scene left a chilling chill. What exactly did this reliance on and devouring of mycelium mean? Had these villagers lost their sense of self, becoming puppets of the mycelium? What would be their fate? These questions flooded Broll's mind, leaving him baffled.

Things soon took a turn for the better, and there was indeed something fishy going on.

One day, a brave traveler arrived at the village. Shocked by the sight, yet captivated by the villagers' happiness, he decided to delve deeper into the village's secrets and explore the truth behind the mycelium.

The traveler began to communicate with the villagers, and although their language was a little strange, he tried his best to understand. He found that the villagers had a special faith in mycelium, believing that mycelium was a gift from the gods that could bring them happiness and peace.

However, the traveler was not satisfied with the superficial explanation. He began to study the origin and function of the mycelium and found that it seemed to be related to a mysterious power that could influence people's thoughts and emotions, making them feel happy and satisfied.

As the investigation deepened, the traveler gradually uncovered the secret of the village. It turned out that the mycelium was a powerful biological weapon that could control people's thoughts and actions. The villagers felt happy because they were controlled by the mycelium and had lost their self-awareness.
