Chapter 213 Adventures in the Forest Tavern (Part 2)

Blore felt a fine bead of sweat beading on the back of his neck.

He stared at the "person" who appeared inexplicably in front of him - the face seemed familiar, but it was covered with a layer of fog in the depths of his memory.

The noisy conversations and clinking of glasses in the pub suddenly disappeared, as if someone had pressed the mute button on the world.

He looked around subconsciously.

The hunter at the next table, who had just been boasting loudly, froze in mid-air with his glass raised, and the bartender's hand, wiping the glass, was frozen in a strange posture.

In the corner, a cat, about to jump onto the bar, hung in the air, its whiskers still stained with unshed milk.

The scene outside the window was even more terrifying.

Through the hazy glass, Blore saw that the forest, which was always unrealistically green, was undergoing strange changes.

Unseasonal snowflakes drifted down among the lush treetops, disappearing the moment they touched the ground.

What’s even more interesting is that a pale pink, tentacle-like substance is oozing out of the soil, slowly wriggling as if it has life, forming a disgusting gradient of colors against the backdrop of snow and green leaves.

At this moment, Ma Tuan slightly raised his head, his sight following the other person's slender body upwards——

The man's outline was clearly a perfect blend of a god and an elf, and every inch of his lines was as bright and holy as if kissed by moonlight.

Her long silver-white hair fell like a waterfall, and the ends of her hair glowed with a faint aurora-like blue, as if it would turn into stardust and dissipate at any time.

His facial features were so delicate as to be almost unreal: a high nose bridge, thin, light-colored lips, and a pair of narrow eyes embedded under his brow bones - his pupils were the emerald green that could only be found in the deepest part of the forest, but the edge of his irises was coated with an inhuman golden ring, like an imprisoned sun.

divinity. wild.

This should be breathtakingly beautiful.

But when Ma Tuan's eyes met his, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up.

——So similar.

That face was almost 70% identical to the "sesame ball" in my memory, but something was completely distorted.

The arc of his smile was too precise, the intervals between his eyelashes blinking seemed to be calculated, and even the rhythm of his breathing had an unnatural rhythm.

Like a statue breathed into life, perfect yet… wrong.

Even weirder is his skin.

Under the dim light of the tavern, the seemingly fair skin was faintly covered with fine, blood vessel-like lines and a mother-of-pearl iridescence, as if buried beneath the skin was not flesh and blood, but some kind of translucent gelatinous organism.

"What are you looking at?"

The man suddenly spoke, and his voice was like ice crystals rolling down the strings of a harp.

His head was tilted slightly to one side—at an angle so precise it looked as if it had been calibrated with a protractor.

Ma Tuan's Adam's apple rolled.

Like sesame balls. But sesame balls are never like this... blank.

The moment this thought came to mind, the other party's pupils suddenly shrank into a thin line, and the golden ring burst out with a dazzling light.

Blore and Nansong only felt their temples throbbing, as if something was piercing back and forth inside their skulls with fine needles.

That person.

Sesame Ball - if it could still be barely classified as a "human" - was stroking the top of Ma Tuan's head with a strange, almost gentle gesture, the joints of its fingers bent in a way that went against biological structure, as if what was wrapped under the skin was not bones, but something soft and squirming.

Then, the other person smiled "gently".

Nansong's back was pressed tightly against the back of the chair, and his fingertips unconsciously pinched into his palms.

She was complaining wildly in her heart - if she were in Ma Tuan's position, she would probably be scared to death!

She glanced at Bai Di calmly, and sure enough!

That abnormal big brother is having another attack.

Lou Xun's fingers were gripping Bai Di's wrist with an almost pathological strength, his knuckles turning bluish-white, but Bai Di seemed unaware - or rather, used to it - and let him hold him still.

There's really no hope.

She was convinced.

But what she didn't expect was that the fire could actually burn her and Blore.

The strange creature suddenly stopped stroking the dough, twisted its neck at an angle that no human could do, and looked straight at them.

Blore straightened his back instantly, like a student being called on by a teacher, his hands placed neatly on his knees, and he even held his breath.

Nan Song also quickly withdrew his gaze, pretending that he had not peeked at all. He stood straight with his eyes fixed on the wine glass in front of him - even though there was no wine in the glass anymore, only a circle of suspicious, slimy residue hanging on the wall of the glass.

Then, they both heard laughter.

The sound was so strange that it made people's scalps tingle, as if countless voices overlapped together, there were male and female, old and young, and even some kind of inhuman scream.

Nansong couldn't help but steal a glance out of the corner of his eye——

Damn it!

The corners of his mouth were tearing towards his ears at a visible speed, his skin like paper being torn apart by invisible hands, revealing the dark red muscle tissue and moist fascia underneath. Even more terrifying, those tissues were still wriggling, as if countless tiny insects were crawling under the skin.

"You should know soon."

Its voice changed. It was no longer the one that deliberately imitated human intonation, but had an echo like the deep sea. Every word was like a bubble squeezed out of a sticky liquid, carrying a fishy and salty smell as it exploded in the air.

Nan Song immediately felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She clenched her teeth tightly, fearing that she would vomit on the spot.
