Chapter 49 Ending

The higher he went, the fewer tentacles Nangel found growing in the swamp. If there were any, he didn't know how big or tall they had to be to be visible in the swamp.

The swamp gradually changed from dark green to black, gurgling, and the only road became narrower and narrower, giving people the feeling that they would fall in if they were not careful.

The smell of metal smelting, the smell of burning trees, the smell of animal carcasses that had been dead for a long time, and the indescribable smell of leather, all mixed together, fermented, stored, and evaporated into the air here.

The air turned dark green, as if it was the thick fog that appeared in the morning when he went to other places.

There was no way any animals or humans could survive in this place, and he felt dizzy.

Bei Teng kept muttering behind him, as if cursing something, but Nanger didn't want to pay any attention to him at all.

"No matter how we go, it's not a solution. Think about it quickly. Let's go back." Beidong felt that he had been breathing the poisonous gas for so long, he wouldn't mutate, right?

"You think too much. After we get out, I'm the one who inhaled all the toxic gas. At best, you've only polluted my mental landscape."

"Haha, I don't believe at all that spiritual pollution is not more important than your physical pollution." Beidong immediately started to speak sarcastically.

"I'm not saying anything, but you've been asking for my opinion instead of doing it yourself. You must think that I'm still the dominant one in this body, and you're just an image I split out." Nanger suddenly turned around, and the two of them almost bumped into each other face to face.

Then Nangel immediately "appreciated" that his face had a distorted expression. He turned his head away in disgust, not wanting to listen to Kitano's rebuttal in an octave higher voice.

"Talk less here. Aren't you afraid of inhaling more poison gas by opening your mouth?" Nanger said again and continued to move forward towards the increasingly narrow road.

You can clearly feel that we are getting higher and higher, it feels like we are hiking up a mountain.

However, the higher you go, the fresher the air feels. Walking along this path really makes you feel chest pain and difficulty breathing.

Nanger discovered that there seemed to be a special kind of insect in this swamp pool.

But it's true, both of them just encountered a toad-like creature. Insects have strong adaptability, so it's not surprising that they appear here, but their appearance is indeed a bit strange.

The road became narrower and narrower, and then suddenly it widened again, and a large flat land appeared in front.

It seems that it is the end.

Nanger and Bei Teng walked side by side again, but the road under their feet gave people the feeling that it was made up of various biological remains and various waste minerals that had been smelted and piled up. They didn't know if someone really built a road here. If so, that person would be a legend.

Walking on the edge, except that there is neither sea nor endless valley below, this place can also be called a cliff.

Atop that massive cliff, a terrifying scene unfolded before them. Below lay a green swamp teeming with black steam, emitting a pungent stench, like the entrance to hell. From time to time, pitch-black tentacled trees emerged from the swamp, twisting and writhing as if alive, a chilling sight.

A wooden raft floated on the surface of the swamp, swaying alone in this treacherous environment. The raft looked dilapidated and seemed as if it could be swallowed by the swamp at any moment. Yet, it stubbornly floated, as if it was the only sign of life in this dead place.

Standing on the cliff edge, overlooking this terrifying scene, an inexplicable fear welled up in my heart. The swamp emitting black mist, the dark tentacled trees, and the floating rafts made everyone who came here feel uneasy. This place seemed like the end of the world, a forbidden zone for life, and no one dared to set foot here easily.

But Beidong seemed to be born with something missing. He just lay down on this cliff made of unknown materials, looking straight at the dark green clouds in the sky, the only proof that time can flow.

He tutted, seeming dissatisfied with the current environment. "Actually, I prefer pine tea to this color, but where you live, the only time I see green seems to be when you're smelting ore."

As he spoke, he looked up at the sky, his eyes were emotionless, even a little indifferent.

At this moment, they were in a gray world, and everything around them seemed so monotonous and dull. However, at this moment, Nanger suddenly found that he had no desire to attack the other party, but was attracted by the other party's words.

"No wonder you always run to the forest. But there are not many places near the forest." Nanger responded, trying to understand Beidong's preferences and behavior.

"That's true." After answering this question, Beidong actually closed his eyes. It seemed that he really enjoyed the tranquility and relaxation at this moment.

This feeling of relaxation made Nanger's heart beat faster. He even wanted to lie down with Beidong and feel this rare comfort together.

However, just as they were about to bask in this tranquility, the clouds in the sky began to move violently.

They surged in from all directions, forming a huge vortex. At the same time, the swamp below began to churn violently, as if something was boiling beneath the swamp.

"What's going on?" Bei Teng immediately turned over and grabbed Nanger's sleeve.

The two men stood on the flat ground at the edge of the cliff, but the road under their feet quickly broke apart and they fell into the rolling swamp.

But facing this scene, Beidong was not afraid at all. He let go of Nanger's sleeve, and then he even strode forward with madness in his eyes.
