Chapter 78 Strange People and Fog

The sunlight at this time of year filtered through the gaps between the branches and leaves, casting circular circles of light that looked like dancing golden elves. These circles of light hit the stones, as if draping them with a mysterious veil.

Everywhere around me was lush greenery, vibrant with life. Tender green leaves swayed gently in the breeze, creating a rustling sound that seemed to play a beautiful melody. In the grass, colorful flowers competed for beauty, emitting bursts of fragrance that attracted flocks of butterflies and bees to gather nectar.

The white mist drifted away, like a dream. Against the backdrop of the wisps of white mist, the green calyx looked even more like a pile of snow jade, with an upright posture, just like an immortal from heaven.

But when he asked, the children just ignored him as if it was a set routine and just fiddled with the gray mushrooms in their hands.

Xiankelai and the others certainly knew that Lu'e was not a fairy who had descended to earth. His temper was even more eccentric than theirs.

Xianmenlai and Jiuyizhi looked at each other, and both ran to Luye at the same time, each holding one of her arms.

"Let's discuss this first. If we really can't do anything, we can just ignore these kids. Alas, even our good looks are useless. I won't go up and make myself look bad." Xiankelai said while winking at Jiuyizhi.

"It's nothing. I feel like I can't get anything out of them. I'll go in and take a look first. You guys wait here." After saying that, as if it was useless, Lu'e just turned sideways and walked out from between the two people. In the blink of an eye, black fog appeared and he had disappeared.

"Hey! Let's go together." Nan Song was a little anxious when he saw it, and wanted to follow. However, he was stopped by Lu Nanyao before he could run two steps.

Lu Nanyao shook her head at her and gestured to her legs.

"Let the one who is least hurt go find someone," she said as she walked towards the children.

"Hey, he just went in like that? Then how did he find those three people?" Nan Song was a little curious.

"It's okay, he has his own way." The remaining three people looked at each other in confusion, but quickly looked away, revealing a sense of guilt.

Nan Song knew that he couldn't get anything out of the question, so he simply kept his mouth shut.

The forest seemed to have turned into a white ocean. The big white dog's chain was long enough that it stayed at the edge of the white fog, walking back and forth as if looking for something.

At this moment, there was a sudden whooshing sound, and then a group of white-haired old men and children rushed out from the white mist. Their hair was all shiny white, and on their backs were huge bamboo baskets filled with gray mushrooms with a metallic texture.

They naturally walked over to where Nansong and the others had been sitting, and as if they hadn't noticed them, they pushed Lu Nanyao, who was sitting on the stone, aside and sat down on their own. The four of them seemed invisible, completely ignored.

"What's going on? Can't they see us?" Xianmenlai staggered after being pushed by one of them. When he was about to turn around and ask, he found that the person who pushed him was a short, hunched old man.

The old man raised his head, with a very strange expression on his face. Perhaps because of his advanced age, his eyes were narrowed into slits, almost unable to open; his mouth was crooked and his nose was collapsed.

However, despite this, he still grinned and sneered at Xiankelai a few times, allowing Xiankelai to clearly see the few teeth in his mouth.

"No, you can see it, can you please have some manners!" Jiu Yizhi saw that Lu Nanyao was not hurt after being helped up by Nansong, so he turned around and questioned the person who took his seat.

The man ignored him completely, took the basket off his shoulder and started counting the items.

The remaining few people looked at each other and felt that something was amiss, so they decided to investigate. They cautiously walked to a distance and carefully observed the group of people. Surprisingly, they were all white-haired old people and young children. Their hair was as white as snow, giving people an eerie feeling.

As they approached, a large white dog suddenly stood up alertly and barked at them fiercely, its eyes flashing with vigilance, as if it was full of hostility towards these strangers.

At that moment, a deep, mysterious chant drifted from the white mist: "Black-headed ghosts, white-headed fairies, two circles turn and turn, cliffs grow on both sides! White mushrooms transform into ghosts. In the woods, there are treasures, there are treasures, there are treasures."

Nansong turned her head when she heard the singing. To her astonishment, she saw a child quietly standing behind her, holding a giant mushroom high in his hand, as if showing her some precious treasure. The child's appearance surprised and frightened Nansong.

Somewhat surprised, she discovered that the child's eyes were yellow.

"You are outsiders, don't stay here." The child held up the mushroom and said to the people in front of him.

Several people were a little confused, and it took them a while to guess what he meant.

Everyone ignored them, why did the child suddenly speak?

Although he didn't know the purpose, as soon as he saw that there was hope in the communication, Xiankelai immediately started asking questions.

"I want to ask, is this place okay? You are indeed outsiders and don't know much about this place."

The child seemed to be thinking carefully about what he meant, with a puzzled expression on his face. After a bit of guesswork, he replied:

"We don't welcome others in our village. You'd better leave quickly. We are about to have a festival." The child said seriously.
