Chapter 83: The Road to the Unknown

Because they were in the water, they could float, but the four people still floated slowly down while looking at the reliefs next to them. The reliefs were a little blurry, and all the people or animals that appeared on them had no faces, which looked a little strange.

No one knew who it was built for. How could anyone use such a large staircase? The sides were wide enough for eight of the four of them to stand. It was as if they had accidentally entered the world of giants. It was so dreamy and unrealistic.

As Blore watched, he suddenly heard a slight cracking sound, as if something had cracked. He subconsciously looked around, but found nothing unusual.

At this moment, there was another burst of crackling firecrackers, followed by the sound of many people chanting something. The sound was low and vague, as if it came from a distant place, which made people feel creepy.

Blore started, covered his ears, and looked around for the source of the sound. However, there was nothing around except endless stairs and darkness.

After being stunned for a moment, he quickly grabbed Ma Tuan and pointed at his ears, trying to explain to him the strange sound he heard. Ma Tuan looked confused, but nodded to show his understanding.

Ma Tuan heard the sound of twisting on the wooden board, the sound of huge waves, and the extremely piercing screams. Those sounds intertwined together and made him feel dizzy.

He felt a sudden pain in his heart, and he didn't know what was going on. He just felt an inexplicable fear surge in his heart. He clung to Blore's arm, hoping to find some comfort.

Blore didn't know what was wrong with Matuan. He was about to speak when he remembered that they were underwater. He had no choice but to squat down and accompany Matuan.

Seeing this, Lu'e was a little confused, but she and Xianmenlai still stopped to wait for them.

Ma Tuan felt his head buzzing, but on the contrary, Blore seemed to be unable to hear any sound.

But he could no longer hear their voices. Instead, he heard the sounds of weapons clashing, spears piercing bodies, and wailing. These sounds were like a powerful force that shook him so much that he could not stand up.

The four of them stood alone atop the massive black staircase, feeling as if they were in the passage to the Eighteenth Level of Hell. The staircase, bottomless and serene, exuded a chilling aura, seemingly awaiting their arrival with indifference.

Meanwhile, Ma Tuan felt the spiritual power within his mental image begin to boil. The wind on the ice field became extremely fierce, mixed with hail and snowflakes, making him feel a chill. And where the skeleton man's sesame ball was buried, vines unexpectedly grew.

Unlike the emerald green vines of the Ma Tuan itself, the vines growing here were more translucent, with a faint white-gold halo swirling through them. Every inch of the vine was delicately patterned, as delicate as a work of art. Within the vines, white-gold flowers blossomed, emitting a faint fragrance.

Ma Tuan clenched his fists tightly and his body trembled slightly, as if he was going through a fierce battle.

At this moment, a deafening bell sound suddenly rang out, like a powerful force shaking the entire space. The bell sound was so grand and so passionate that it made people's hearts and minds ripple.

At the same time, all the riots subsided instantly, as if suppressed by an invisible force. Ma Tuan also slowly stood up, a hint of doubt and vigilance in his eyes.

The rest of Blore and the others also became alert and looked around, trying to find the source of the bell. However, they were clearly in the water, so how could there be a bell ringing?

After the bell rang, the surroundings returned to calm, but there was a strange atmosphere in the air. Ma Tuan gestured to the other three, indicating that everyone should leave quickly.

The four of them quickly ascended the stairs, with Ma Tuan trailing behind. He opened his palm, revealing a small, squashed white-gold flower. The flower emitted a faint glow, seemingly imbued with some mysterious power.

Just above their heads, a milky white mycelium quietly emerged from the massive stair railing. It slowly wriggled, gradually expanding, soon enveloping the entire railing and extending toward the stairs.

The mycelium continued to wriggle, gradually growing thicker and stronger, eventually forming into enormous snakes. These snakes spat out white tongues and gazed coldly at the four figures below. They coiled and twisted on the stairs, as if waiting for the right moment to attack.

Above the stairs, some figures in black armor began to appear slowly. They held spears in their hands and had long swords hanging from their waists. Their bodies were tightly wrapped, but their eyes were dull and lifeless. Apart from that, no other skin could be seen.

These figures emerged silently from the darkness like ghosts. None of them held onto the handrails, moving slowly downwards, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings. Even more eerie, their hair was all crimson-green, cascading down behind them like long, bound snakes, emitting an eerie aura.

Lu'e seemed to sense something unusual and turned back to check, but all she could see was darkness. She couldn't help but frown, feeling uneasy.

Blore noticed Lu'e's behavior and looked at him with some confusion. Lu'e shook her head gently, indicating that she was fine, and smiled to reassure Blore. The group continued to rush down.
