Bai Di is now unwilling to believe his intuition, nor is he willing to believe that the person in front of him is his elder brother.
The Lou Xun standing in front of him at this moment seemed to no longer be the big brother he was familiar with, but a newly synthesized monster, exuding a terrifying aura.
Bai Di continued coldly, "I still can't convince myself that you are my elder brother."
However, the situation changed again in an instant.
Lou Xun, or rather, Bai Di's elder brother who was still in shock and confusion at this moment, suddenly seemed to have lost his support and fell down suddenly. His whole body seemed to be dragged by a powerful force and quickly immersed in the strange and bizarre sea of blood.
Bai Di was stunned by this sudden change. He subconsciously wanted to step back, but found that his feet seemed to be entangled by something and he could not move.
He looked down and saw that the originally solid stone fortress had shattered into pieces at some point, and his feet were deeply stuck in the fragments.
Bai Di's breathing suddenly stopped.
Something entangled him from behind - pale golden runes wrapped around his wrists and waist like chains, and the cold touch penetrated his skin. It was Broll's mental bondage.
He should have breathed a sigh of relief, but a strange emotion surged in his heart, as if he was forcibly dragged out of an unfinished ceremony, feeling unwilling, anxious, and even... a sense of indescribable loss.
It wasn't supposed to end like this.
The stone slab under his feet suddenly let out a dying groan, and spider-web-like cracks spread wildly with Bai Di as the center.
Silver-blue light seeped out from every crack, as if the starlight sleeping deep in the earth's crust had finally found an outlet to vent.
The whole world began to tilt, and the blood-red sky fell into nothingness like peeling wall paint.
Bai Di suddenly closed his eyes.
Eyelashes cast broken shadows on cheeks.
When I opened my eyes again——
The mountains left a hideous imprint on his retina. They were not naturally formed peaks, but thousands of bronze swords stuck upside down in the earth, their blades engraved with ancient spells.
The sea of clouds surged between the sword edges, and every wave turned into a silver-white meteor when it exploded, dragging a light trace like nerve veins in the sky.
"I see..."
Bai Di's sigh awakened the sleeping image.
Fragments of memory began to peel away from him—the orange his brother had handed him one afternoon, the flashing warning lights in the lab, the golden runes entwined around Blore's fingertips—and all the images suddenly twisted and distorted before they hit the ground. Familiar faces melted into wax tears, and the features of strangers reassembled and shattered, eventually transforming into translucent deep-sea creatures.
"Crash—"
Tens of thousands of jellyfish tentacles burst from the sea, carrying with them the distorted quality of dreams, each tentacle gleaming with the fluorescence of memory.
Some tentacles still have the remnants of undigested memories clinging to them: the corners of half a photo, a few blurred conversations, and a few faded emotions.
Bai Di reached out and touched the nearest tentacle.
A chill shudder ran through his fingertips, and the image of Lou Xun—split pupils, black scales, and that suffocating gaze—immediately emerged from within the tentacle. The image tumbled and twisted within the tentacle, finally shattering into stardust.
"That's too deliberate..."
Bai Di crushed the fluorescent light in his palm,
"A true nightmare... never displays its fangs so explicitly."
This dream was too absurd and too deliberate. He didn't even need to use much of his reason to notice the incongruity in it.
Those split pupils, twisted possessiveness, slowly growing bone spurs… all had a sense of clumsy imitation, as if some being was trying to replicate the fear in his memory, but ended up with something worse.
He slowly raised his hand, and the tentacles obediently wrapped around his fingertips, cold and soft.
"Have you had enough fun?" he asked softly, with a hint of weariness in his voice.
The sea of blood began to boil and the dream was collapsing.
The jellyfish suddenly turned collectively.
Their fluorescence went out at the same time, and then burst into dazzling blue light the next second.
Under the illumination of this blue light, the sea of blood began to boil, and the outer shell of the dream curled and fell off like a burnt film, revealing what was behind it—
A deeper darkness.
