Chapter 25: Half the Mission Successful (√)

The flags tied to the drum tower fluttered in the wind, and the sound of rustling was endless.

The blazing torches emitted a fiery light, shining on everyone's face, making it glow red.

"We're finally here. Climb up these stairs, and inside are the sick people.

Oh, by the way, you can call me Xiao Ka Hui. I have something else to do, so I’ll excuse myself first. Goodbye everyone.”

When they arrived in front of a bone building, the child waved to them and quickly turned and ran away.

"Okay, Xiaokahui, bye!"

Blore raised his hand hastily in farewell.

"Stop dawdling and go."

Nansong patted Blore's shoulder vigorously, then took the lead and stepped onto the stairs with the other two.

"Got it, I'll be right there."

Blore hurried after him.

I saw two long chains dragging around his ankles. Every time he took a step, the chains would hit the bone railing heavily, making a dull sound.

Blore was startled by the sudden sound, and then he was met with Nansong's angry gaze.

"Why are you so angry?"

Blore muttered softly, avoiding Nansong's gaze, while carefully slowing down his pace, trying not to make too much noise, and quickly walked up the stairs.

In fact, the patients' painful groans could be faintly heard from a distance. Blore walked forward and knocked gently on the door.

"Hello, is anyone inside? We have brought the antidote for the patients."

Not long after, the door suddenly opened with a bang, and a person wrapped tightly from head to toe stuck his head out.

"What did you just say? I didn't hear clearly."

As soon as the door opened, the painful groans from inside were immediately amplified several times and came out.

"If you want to go in, it's better to put on protective clothing first. It will be safer."

The tightly wrapped man squeezed out from the crack in the door and immediately closed it again. After carefully examining the four people, he spoke to them.

"Okay, where can I get the protective suits? We went into the forest with Mr. Nangle to look for a solution, and now we've found the antidote."

Ma Tuan was afraid that Blore would say something wrong, so he quickly pushed him aside.

"Really? You've found the antidote? And Nanger is back too?"

"Yes, if it's convenient, please give us the specific directions for the protective suits. If you want to find Mr. Nangle, then go to the laboratory to find him."

"Oh, I remember now. It's you four kids. Wait a moment. I need to make sure your medicine is correct."

The man in protective suit pulled down his mask, looked at the four people warily, and prepared to leave.

"Hey, I'm sure the medicine is right. Uncle Suijin got sick on the way, and it was thanks to this medicine that he recovered..."

Before Blore could finish his words, Tuanma stepped forward and covered his mouth.

"Miss, if you don't believe us, then go ahead and ask us. We have a clear conscience. I don't know if those patients can wait any longer."

Even though he was wearing a mask, one could tell from his voice that he was definitely smiling while speaking.

Nan Song and Bai Di did not say anything. It was natural to be wary of them, but they were definitely unhappy that they were still being suspected after finally producing the antidote.

"I'm sorry, this is my responsibility. I can't let anything that might be harmful in and cause secondary harm to the patients. Please understand." Seeing everyone's unhappy faces, she explained.

"It's okay, we understand." Nan Song said.

"Thank you for your understanding. I will be back as soon as possible." After saying that, she turned and hurried away.

The four of them could only wait where they were.

“Ah, my days are passing…”

Ma Tuan stretched lazily and said, "Listening to these people, I feel uncomfortable."

"But it's really strange. I hope Nangel can find the real reason."

Nansong agreed.

Sure enough, after a while, the woman ran back quickly.

"I'm sorry for taking so long. Put on these clothes and you can go in." She said as she handed clothes to everyone.

"Thank you!" Everyone took it while thanking them.

"You're welcome. I hope these medicines can help the patients," she replied.

After everyone had put on their clothes, the woman opened the door and motioned for everyone to follow.

When the last person came in, the woman immediately signaled to close the door.

The room was very large, with no end in sight. There were many transparent glass containers in the room, containing villagers who had fainted.

They lay motionless, as if frozen in time, and the glass containers were like giant crystal coffins, emitting an icy aura.

The room was filled with a pungent smell, a mixture of chemicals and mechanical lubricants. A faint light flickered on the walls, illuminating the people in the glass containers, making the entire scene seem particularly eerie and terrifying.

With the humming sound, machines are running. They may be producing air conditioning to keep the room cool, or they may be supplying oxygen to maintain the vital signs of the unconscious people.

In addition to these glass containers, there were also some people lying on hospital beds. Their heads were swollen like ripe watermelons, making it almost impossible to see their faces, and their bodies were also swollen.

Of the whole body, only the bright flowers growing on the top of the head look the most normal, but in this situation, they appear extremely weird and terrifying.
