Chapter 57 "The CEO's Guide to Winning Over His Wife" 8:30, 9:00...
He's supposed to start work at 8:30, and his 200 yuan salary is due at 9:00!
Ning Buyi kept urging the man to sit on a chair and then on the bed. He said, "We're already late."
It takes more than twenty minutes to drive from here to the company. Unless Ning doesn't leave the house at all, there's no way to protect those two hundred.
Upon hearing this, Ning Buyi paused for only a second, then turned around and sprawled back on the bed. Since he was already late, he figured he might as well sleep a little longer.
Zhu Yanhe stood up, turned the man over, and said in a flat tone, "One hour of absence will result in a deduction of one thousand."
For someone who has just lain down, standing at attention only takes a second. Zhu Yanhe knew he should deduct his pay. He should have said it was 30,000 a month! Ning Buyi pouted and let Zhu Yanhe dress him, wrapping him up piece by piece until he was wrapped up like a dumpling before he was satisfied.
After washing up, Ning Buyi followed Zhu Yanhe downstairs to work. Li Chang looked at Ning Buyi, who was wrapped up tightly, and then at himself, who was only wearing a single layer of clothing. His eyebrows furrowed. Is this still a world?
The boy followed closely behind the man, his face almost touching Zhu Yanhe's back. He yawned, expressionless, and used his sleeve to pound the man's waist. He was caught before he could pound a few times, and his hands were not freed until he got into the car.
"Breakfast." Zhu Yanhe handed him a beautifully packaged bag.
"Thank you, thank you." Ning Buyi replied weakly, then yawned and fell asleep while chewing on his food.
Strands of hair clung to the glass window, and a few crumbs lingered at the corners of his mouth. Zhu Yanhe's thoughts stirred slightly. He raised the front seat partition, gently lifted the boy's head, and pulled him into his arms. He wiped the crumbs from the corners of his mouth with his fingertips. The boy looked adorable as he slept, his long eyelashes fluttering.
The blinding sunlight streamed through the glass window and landed squarely on his eyelids. Ning Buyi slowly opened his eyes, looked around, and realized he was already on his bed in the office.
He lay back down; it felt so warm.
Zhu Yanhe finally finished dawdling and came out late at night. He sat at his desk, his sharp eyes scanning the computer screen, seemingly looking at something.
"come over."
Upon receiving the instruction, Ning Buyi jogged two steps back to his position, sat upright in his chair like a primary school student, blinked at Zhu Yanhe, and waited for the next instruction.
"Want to go to the auction this afternoon?" Zhu Yanhe opened the drawer. The space that used to hold documents had been emptied and replaced with all sorts of snacks. He casually pulled out a bag, opened it, and put it aside.
"What is this?" Ning Buyi took it and put it in his mouth without any hesitation; auctions were a blind spot for him.
Zhu Yanhe propped her head up and glanced at him, saying, "It has your favorite thing."
The boy's eyes lit up. What did he like most? Money.
Ning Buyi frowned. The only light in the dimly lit hall came from the stage, where dazzling jewels glittered in the glass cases. Zhu Yanhe had said there were things he liked most, and they were, but he hadn't said he'd just look at them!
"What are you doing here, Zhu Yanhe—" Zhu Yanhe rested his chin on his hand as Ning Buyi whispered in his ear to the man with his legs crossed beside him.
The man handed him the brochure in a calm tone: "Is there anything you like?"
The voice was magnetic and captivating. Ning Buyi glanced over and his eyes widened. Everything here was so expensive, with a string of zeros at the end. The boy shook his head like a rattle-drum, he dared not like it.
Zhu Yanhe looked into his eyes, his reflection shimmering in his clear, watery pupils: "You don't need to pay."
Ning Buyi shook his head even more violently. He hesitated even at thirty or fifty cents, since this was a price in the millions. Did he really want this as a family heirloom? He couldn't understand why a stone could be so expensive.
Moreover, how could he dare to accept something so expensive? He even finds it prickly to carry around. Sigh, this might be the legendary case of a wild boar not being able to carry jade.
The man glanced at him, the words swirling around in his mouth: "Pick one?"
"I don't want it." Ning Buyi handed this hot potato back to him. Why give him this? It would have been better to treat him to a delicious meal.
Zhu Yanhe narrowed his eyes and curled his lips: "Who said I gave it to you?"
The people around him looked at him with a hint of amusement. Ning Buyi looked up and glanced at him sideways, then gave him a massage on his legs. They just knew how to make fun of him. That hateful Zhu Yanhe.
He picked up the booklet, thinking he would pick out an expensive one to make Zhu Yanhe bleed, but finally his fingertip landed on a pigeon-blood red diamond necklace: "This one is sparkly."
Zhu Yanhe gave a soft "hmm" and casually played with the boy's wrist in her hand.
As the auction progressed past the halfway point, the surrounding lights dimmed and the central spotlight shone on. The pigeon blood red necklace, surrounded by diamonds, in the glass display case shimmered with iridescent light. Ning Buyi stared in disbelief. No wonder it was so expensive; it was so dazzling in real life.
"Raise the sign," Zhu Yanhe said lazily.
"I don't want it, I don't have any money." Ning Buyi shook his head, saying his refusal. He couldn't even count the zeros on the back of that necklace; he could probably only afford it if he started live streaming from ancient times.
“I have it.” Zhu Yanhe’s fingertips kneaded his wrist bones, lazily lifting the hand holding the sign.
The auctioneer's voice rang out as soon as the bidding paddle was raised, and the elegantly dressed woman announced their bids. Ning Buyi couldn't quite describe his feeling; it was as if he had that much money too.
The auctioneer's voice rang out again, someone had exceeded their bid. Ning Buyi turned to look at him, blinking as if to ask if he wanted it or not.
Zhu Yanhe chuckled softly and breathed close to his ear: "Help me get it, okay?"
Ning Buyi's eyes widened, his eyelashes fluttering like feather fans, and his mind went completely blank. Had Zhu Yan just begged him?! What else was there to say? He would go through fire and water for his good brother without hesitation.
The power of prayers and requests was like water in a frying pan, sizzling and crackling, satisfying Ning Buyi's hidden desire for conquest.
Now Zhu Yanhe didn't need to hold him up anymore. Ning Buyi's thin, white arm was raised straight up. Zhu Yanhe's eyes were full of laughter, and he laughed as slyly as a fox. He thought to himself that if he had known it would be this simple, the so-called "CEO's Guide to Chasing His Wife" that Zhu Zhu had given him would have been completely useless.
"Just watch and see, I'll definitely get it for you." The boy's eyes sparkled with fire, making his pupils look like dazzling gems. Zhu Yanhe rested his chin on his hand and watched quietly, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned, admiring the priceless treasure in his eyes.
Strangely enough, every time Ning Buyi called out a price, someone would follow suit. The young man was full of energy, and he never stopped holding the bidding paddle. Zhu Yanhe watched with a smile as the person determined to complete the task.
Zhu Yanhe led Ning Buyi in to register as a newcomer, while the one who kept bidding was the general assistant, who represented the Zhu family to bid on the items.
The two bidders took turns raising their paddles, and the necklace was immediately bid up to the maximum price. The assistant sent a message to his boss that he had lost, and then peeked around to see who was so stupid as to bid 20 million for a necklace worth a few million.
Looking at the dignified man in the transparent private room and the smiling boy beside him, he silently withdrew his gaze. He would not be ordering takeout at the discounted price today.
I'd spend a fortune just to see a beautiful woman smile.
"Am I amazing?!" Ning Buyi asked him with a smile, but his smile froze when he heard the auctioneer announce the price he paid. "Young Master!"
Zhu Yanhe smiled faintly: "Impressive."
"That person is crazy! He kept competing with me and made me spend so much money..." Ning Buyi slapped his thigh and said to Zhu Yanhe.
He couldn't accept that the necklace had increased in price several times over; the word "loss" was absolutely unthinkable in his dictionary, even if it wasn't his money! He was so angry that Ning Buyi gave Zhu Yan a massage.
"I'm sick," Zhu Yan said lazily, leaning back in his chair, pretending to be nonchalant as he soothed the boy's frizzy hair: "What do you want to eat tonight?"
"Whatever!" Ning Buyi said with a stern face, still muttering about that scoundrel who kept haggling over the price.
Zhu Yanhe raised an eyebrow, straightened his sleeves, and stood up: "If you're so worried, let's run."
Before Ning Buyi could even react, he grabbed her hand and they slipped away. The two ran smoothly to the door, the boy's hair flying up as he looked at her eyes, which were still unaware of what had happened.
"Hey!! How can we run away!" Ning Buyi stood there belatedly realizing what was happening.
“If they run away, you don’t have to pay anymore, so you won’t feel bad about it.” Zhu Yanhe said calmly, as if he didn’t think there was anything wrong with it.
He reached out and grabbed Zhu Yanhe, trying to pull him inside. What was he so worried about? It wasn't his money! How could Zhu Yanhe dine and dash? One should be honest.
Ning Buyi was even more anxious than the "shameless" person behind him. Zhu Yanhe was pulled a few steps and said with a forced laugh, "Aren't you heartbroken?"
"I don't care, it's not my money." The boy muttered in front, but the person behind him suddenly froze as if his legs were nailed to the ground. Ning Buyi thought he didn't want to go, so he tugged at his hand, "You can't dine and dash."
Zhu Yanhe stepped forward and picked the man up with one hand. His heart skipped a beat when he was suddenly lifted into the air. He held the man's neck tightly with both hands, trying not to drop him.
"Yeah, I'm not short of money." Zhu Yanhe laughed freely, exuding a youthful vigor he had never shown before.
You lied to me again!
The laughter turned into a gust of wind that rustled the leaves overhead, the alternating pattering sounds spreading through the air, only to be stopped by the elegant sound of a violin outside the window. A girl in a little dress stared intently at the violin, her arms gracefully arching as she held the bow, the melody entering Ning Buyi's ears through his gaze.
Inside the lavishly decorated Western-style restaurant, the warm light from the center of the stage shone on her, making her appear as a fluttering butterfly in the boy's eyes.
"Wow, Zhu Yanhe, that's so good." Ning Buyi tilted his head and stared at the performance. Zhu Yanhe across from him responded, his fingertips casually tracing the exquisite menu. A waiter in uniform beside him bowed slightly, showing utmost respect.
On the dining table covered with a lace-trimmed tablecloth, orange candlelight flickered, and cutlery were neatly arranged to one side, while a wine glass nearby was filled with a touch of burgundy.
"What is this?" Ning Buyi raised the cup but couldn't figure it out. He brought it to his lips and took a sip. It was so astringent!
"Wine." Zhu Yan rested her chin on her hand, a gentle smile on her lips as she looked at the boy.
The waiter pushed the dishes onto the table, which were all kinds of steaks. The waiter couldn't help but think to himself, "Normally people would only order one serving, how come they ordered seven or eight servings right away? I've never seen anything like it."
Ning Buyi held the knife and fork, unsure of where to begin. Even with a perfect demonstration right in front of him, he still couldn't understand it. He would take a bite with the fork and then stand up again. Aside from the fact that it was best to eat like this, there were no downsides.
