Chapter 108 He didn't want to be a bad person, he just wanted a very ordinary life...
It was just an ordinary document; I had no idea what Old Man Zhu wanted to do with it.
A moment later, there was a knock on the door. Zhu Guanghai responded, and an assistant pushed the door open and came in.
The assistant came in, glanced over, and paused before speaking: "Mr. Zhu, this?"
Zhu Guanghai: "It's nothing, go ahead."
The assistant responded with an "Mm," and opened the document in his hand: "Mr. Zhu's company is currently operating normally, but the latest technology contract has become invalid because the other party was sued."
"Secondly, three companies are intercepting Mr. Zhu's supply of goods. And those three companies applied to make an appointment with you last week."
Zhu Guanghai frowned. He remembered that such a thing had indeed happened before, but they dared not mess with the father, so they messed with the son? How absurd.
Ning Buyi listened intently, catching the words carefully. He asked, "Is it Zhu Yanhe's company?"
The assistant glanced at Zhu Guanghai's tacit approval and said, "Uh, yes."
Seeing his gaze lingering on the spot, Zhu Guanghai waved for him to leave, his voice, though strong, carrying a hint of weariness and age: "Do you know why that brat left the company?"
Ning Buyi raised his head: "It's because of me."
“He quit his job to be with you. I told him that if you could start your own company from scratch, I would stop interfering in your affairs.” Zhu Guanghai spoke slowly, his posture no longer as upright as before. After all, Zhu Yanhe was his child, even if they weren’t close, he was still his own flesh and blood.
His eyes flickered, and his long eyelashes trembled slightly: "But, but Zhu Yanhe is very capable, he will definitely succeed."
What he really wanted to say was that Zhu Yanhe was sure to succeed, so why did Old Man Zhu still do this?
"Hmph, with my abilities, it's a bit difficult for him to make a name for himself. It's just that I don't plan to take action, but a bunch of people are getting restless." Zhu Guanghai glanced at him, speaking casually.
He stared at the person in front of him for a long time without saying a word, his lips turning white. He lowered his head and slowly said, "But Zhu Yanhe is already very tired."
During the days Zhu Yanhe was hospitalized, he stayed up very late. He could feel a faint light even with his eyes closed. Sometimes when he brought him lunch, Zhu Yanhe would take a nap in between, because many people would come to the ward to talk during the day.
He didn't know how to help Zhu Yanhe. Every time he asked Zhu Yanhe, Zhu Yanhe would say that he was fine and that taking care of himself was the best way to help him.
Zhu Guanghai remained silent for a long time before replying, "I know, you can go now."
Zhu Guanghai told him to leave, and he thought that Old Man Zhu wanted him to leave Zhu Yanhe's side. Ning Buyi raised his head blankly and asked, "Then, Old Man Zhu, will you help Zhu Yanhe?"
Zhu Guanghai replied, "He only has one father, so if I don't help him, who will?"
The boy nodded slightly, said "okay," and left. Zhu Yanhe had told him not to leave, but if he left, Old Man Zhu would help Zhu Yanhe. He lay in his office, his mind a mess, unsure of what to do.
Ning Buyi was distracted at work all afternoon. He dialed Zhu Yanhe's number: "Zhu Yanhe, do you really like me?"
A gust of wind blew across the way, mixed with voices. Zhu Yanhe coughed and said, "Yes, I like it very much."
He raised the corners of his mouth and rubbed his eyes: "Then I like you very much too."
Zhu Yanhe's heart softened, and all she could do was hold Ning Xiaozhu in her arms that night: "I'll be home a little late tonight, don't wait for me."
There was silence on both ends of the phone. He spoke softly, "Are you going out to eat and drink with other people again?"
"Yeah, that's how it is with social engagements." Zhu Yanhe's eyelids kept twitching, and he felt something was off. He asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, it's just that Zhu Yan and you never used to come home late." Ning Buyi's voice was a little distant; his phone was hanging up, and the screen was displaying a ticketing app.
Zhu Yanhe: "Missed me?"
Ning Buyi hummed twice: "A little bit."
Zhu Yanhe chuckled softly, saying he would be back that evening and that he missed him very much. The boy's fingertips hovered in mid-air for a long time, he missed Zhu Yanhe too.
He only just realized it.
When Ning Buyi got off work in the afternoon, the driver came to pick him up. He felt empty inside. Outside the window, the shadows of the trees receded, and only a few leaves remained, clinging to the trunks.
The table was still set with steaming hot food. The person in front of the table listlessly poked at the food in their bowl. During those days in the hospital, they were still able to spend a lot of time with Zhu Yanhe every day.
He was still struggling with what Old Man Zhu had said today. He said Zhu Yanhe would be sad if he left, but Zhu Yanhe would have a hard time if he didn't leave. So, should he leave or not?
Ning Buyi was still agonizing over it even after washing up and getting into bed. He kept agonizing over it while playing on his phone. He decided to wait for Zhu Yanhe to come back first.
A bright light hung from the ceiling. He had to wait for Zhu Yanhe to return, so he couldn't fall asleep. His gaze swept from the left to the right of the light and then back again; he was avoiding the choice.
Ning Buyi didn't want Zhu Yanhe to feel bad, nor did she want to put Zhu Yanhe in a difficult position.
Maybe they shouldn't have been together in the first place.
The boy lay upright in bed, his mind racing with all sorts of thoughts that made his heart pound. Finally, he heard a noise at the door, and Ning Buyi immediately threw off the covers, jumped out of bed, and rushed to the front door.
It wasn't Zhu Yanhe who opened the door, but Xie Yuchen again.
"Here, catch this." Xie Yuchen helped the person in, and he hurriedly went to catch him. The strong smell of alcohol hit him, and the young man's eyebrows furrowed.
He asked, "Did Zhu Yanhe drink a lot? He seems drunk today."
Xie Yuchen spread his hands and nodded: "It's inevitable that some people who disliked him before will take the opportunity to get him drunk."
Zhu Yanhe enveloped him, his pounding heart pressed tightly against Ning Buyi's. The boy's eyes trembled, and he suddenly asked, "Does Zhu Yanhe have to do this every day? But he has only just recovered from his illness."
"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it will be the same for the next few days. Those clients are no pushovers," Xie Yuchen explained.
The boy obediently replied with an "oh," without saying anything else, only thanking Xie Yuchen.
The person on his back felt both heavy and light; he could carry Zhu Yanhe's weight, but he couldn't hold Zhu Yanhe's true heart.
Ning Buyi laboriously dragged the person to the bed. He sat on the edge of the bed, reached out and turned off the light, leaving only a soft, warm light that quietly illuminated Zhu Yanhe, whose haggard face could not be concealed.
The boy was bathed in the same warm yellow light. He smiled slightly, but his thoughts drifted back to his first meeting with Zhu Yanhe, to how Zhu Yanhe always took him to eat delicious food, to their trip to Norway, and to how Zhu Yanhe kissed him…
Ever since Ning Buyi drifted here, Zhu Yanhe has been there, gradually becoming a part of his life, and now they can't live without each other. Ning Buyi's heart has long been opened.
Zhu Yanhe already got a perfect score.
His eyes meticulously traced the man's appearance, and every little detail about them flashed through his mind. Zhu Yanhe was so good; Zhu Yanhe should not be bullied by others.
The boy slowly leaned down, their noses brushing together. He tilted his head slightly and gently pressed his lips against Zhu Yanhe's. A drop of moisture slid down his cheek and dripped onto Zhu Yanhe's face.
"I think I've fallen in love with you. Best wishes."
He opened his phone, and the order awaiting payment in the app had transformed into a train ticket, lying quietly in a small square. After doing this, he quietly climbed into bed and effortlessly snuggled into the warm embrace beside him.
The man instinctively put his arm around the boy and pulled him into a tight embrace.
Zhu Yanhe woke up just as dawn was breaking outside. He rubbed his temples to relieve the pain of his hangover. The boy in his arms had rosy cheeks and red eyes as if he had been crying. He couldn't help but hold him in his arms and kiss him for a while before going to work.
A moment later, Ning Buyi's phone rang. The young man touched his phone to turn off the ringer, and after lying on the bed for a while, he got up. He was leaving today.
The clothes Zhu Yanhe had prepared for him were still on the sofa in the room. He sat down at the table, picked up a pen, and began to write. After writing a few lines, he placed the note under the book that Zhu Yanhe read most often, with two small rabbit bears beside him.
Ning Buyi didn't take anything with him. Just like going to work every day, the driver downstairs was still waiting for him. He lied and said that Zhu Yanhe had asked for leave for him and let the driver go first.
The boy took a taxi to the station. The taxi was a bit bumpy, making him dizzy. Ning Buyi blocked everyone's contacts in the car, making his phone look like it was brand new, otherwise Zhu Yanhe would have come looking for him.
He left a note, but he doesn't know if it will work.
The boy looked out the window. The station was at the southernmost part of S City. Familiar places gradually disappeared from his sight. He would return to that small county town.
Ning Buyi wants to take the college entrance exam, wants to go to university, and wants to forget Zhu Yanhe.
As the train whistled, his last lingering attachment drifted away with the sound of the train. Old Man Zhu was right; he and Zhu Yanhe were never from the same world.
His presence will only hurt Zhu Yanhe; he shouldn't do that.
The boy on the bus pursed his lips tightly and rubbed his eyes hard, thinking that he could hold back his tears. His heart felt like it was being squeezed, but he couldn't cry, it would be too embarrassing.
Zhu Yanhe had been busy all morning and only now had time to sit at his desk. Ning Xiaozhu should be having lunch at this time, and would probably order him two big chicken legs. Thinking this, he opened the chat box.
He couldn't make the call at all; Ning Buyi had blocked him. Why? The only reason Zhu Yanhe could think of was that he had gotten drunk yesterday, which made Ning Xiaozhu angry.
He took out another phone and called Ning Buyi, but there was no response. Seeing the boy leave the house on time in the surveillance footage, he breathed a sigh of relief and then called the president's office at Zhu's Corporation.
Is Ning Buyi here?
Tan Yu answered the phone. She frowned upon hearing this: "President Zhu? Ningning didn't come. I thought she had taken leave."
Zhu Yanhe frowned as he listened. He didn't think Ning Buyi would block him, so had something happened to Ning Buyi?
Thinking of this, he immediately turned on the locator. The phone's location had already left S City and was heading towards J City. A strong sense of unease welled up in his heart. He didn't rush to confirm it, but went straight to his house.
He just didn't want Ning Buyi to leave.
Zhu Yanhe looked around the room. The completed test papers were still on the table. As if to reassure Zhu Yanhe, the man walked forward and opened the cabinet door, where all the clothes were displayed.
He moved to the bedside, and the piece of paper under the book caught his eye. Zhu Yanhe picked up the paper and quietly looked at the information on it.
The paper gradually wrinkled, and Zhu Yanhe's face grew darker and darker. The handwriting on the paper was not beautiful, but it was neat, just like Ning Buyi's.
