Chapter 43 The Vixen's Demeanor The automatic door opened and closed, swaying...

The automatic door opened and closed, the swaying wind chimes still ringing. The young man walked lightly, full of vigor. Li Chang looked up and asked, "Oh, the Evil Sword Immortal has been resurrected."

"Brother, look at my rings." Ning Buyi took out an exquisite velvet box and placed it on the front desk. Inside were two rings, one large and one small. The workmanship was not very fine, but at first glance, you couldn't tell that he had made them himself.

Li Chang picked up the box and looked at it against the light: "Not bad, I really couldn't tell it was made by you. You're quite capable." He gave a thumbs up, he really couldn't tell.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the inner ring of the diamond-shaped silver ring was engraved with characters; the smaller one was engraved with "移" (move), and the larger one was engraved with "禾" (grain).

"Her name has 'He' in it?" Li Chang asked casually.

Ning Buyi nodded: "Yes, her name is Xiao He." His sister's name is Xiao He, and his name is Xiao Yi; they're a match made in heaven!

Li Chang asked him how he planned to deliver it to Xiao He. Ning Buyi hadn't decided yet. Although the express delivery would arrive the next day, he preferred to deliver it in person. He knew they would meet when they could arrange to meet Xiao He.

Seeing his radiant, lovestruck expression, Li Chang noticed his eyebrows furrowed – the stench of romance was overwhelming! He grabbed a takeout bag and left the internet cafe, choked with stench!

The lunchbox flew in a parabola and successfully landed in the trash can. Li Chang stood outside for a while, walking around the shop to digest his meal.

Across from the internet cafe were a bunch of shops, some of which were unfinished and had their renovations removed, with traces of shop signs still remaining on the walls, and signs for rent posted on the glass doors.

This is an old street, and apart from the surveillance cameras installed by the shops themselves, almost all of them are old and neglected. There's a construction site nearby, which will probably make it a bit more lively once it's completed.

Li Chang stood there with his hands on his hips, dreaming about the future of this old street, even starting to plan what each empty shop would sell. One would sell spicy hot pot, another spicy tang—his son loved those.

His thoughts shifted with his gaze, eventually landing on an empty shop in the most remote corner. Suddenly, his eyes met someone's gaze, startling him so much that his heart skipped a beat.

Like a venomous snake flicking its tongue, it stared intently at him, as if it would pounce on him at any moment, strangle him until he suffocated, and then devour him bit by bit.

Li Chang clutched his chest, a chill running down his spine from the man's gaze. The man left quickly, but the shock lingered in his mind.

Many of the streetlights were broken, the days were short and the nights were long, the sun set early, darkness enveloped the surroundings, and there were only one or two pedestrians.

Just thinking about those eyes terrified him; the way a predator looks at its prey was so sinister and terrifying. And he was dressed all in black. The moment their eyes met, he broke out in a cold sweat, as if a vengeful ghost was about to take his life.

He shouldn't have called him the "evil sword immortal," that's what's truly evil.

Li Chang rubbed his arms and dashed back to the front desk. He never wanted to digest his food outside again; the front desk was much warmer.

Ning Buyi watched him go out for a walk and then looked after the shop at the front desk for a while.

"What's wrong, bro?"

Li Chang shook his head, letting him know how pathetic it was to be scared by a person. He guessed that person was just a local thug. He reminded Ning Buyi, "Jian'er, there are a lot of thugs in this old neighborhood. Be careful."

Li Chang wouldn't let him go out at night, so that wasn't a concern.

He saw right through her: "Oh~ you were just startled by this, weren't you?"

"Hey, you!"

Ning Buyi picked up his things, turned around, and ran upstairs. He stopped at the top of the stairs, stuck out his tongue, and went back to his room.

The moon wasn't working, and the room was completely dark. The light from the screen shone brightly on his face. Ning Buyi lay flat on his back and held up his phone. Zhu Yanhe hadn't replied to him for several days. Stingy Zhu Yanhe, cold-blooded Zhu Yanhe, bad Zhu Yanhe who didn't treat him like a brother!

Ning Buyi sent him a few more messages, but he still didn't reply. Instead, Jingjing sent a few messages in the group chat.

Jingjing: Congratulations to Jianjian for reaching 500,000 followers!

Guoguo: Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Chestnut: Great!

Ning Buyi held his phone in one hand, tapping the keyboard with his index finger, and sent a message: So many! What's the use?

He only gets tens of thousands of viewers a day for his live streams, but he has so many fans. However, he doesn't do anything else on his account besides live streaming, so it doesn't seem to be very useful.

Jingjing: Now you can participate in the Star Awards!

Chestnut: Only those with more than 500,000 followers are invited to the Tencent Video All Star Awards.

Guoguo: Pay attention! I was invited for money.

Spending money on me?! Such a good thing! Ning Buyi grinned, but his hand slipped, and his phone fell straight to his face. The dull pain made him writhe like a maggot on the bed. Supporting domestic products… It hurts so much to be hit by a brick!

Ning Buyi picked up his phone and asked some more questions about the Starlight Gala.

The Starlight Awards is an annual offline event held by Lemon Entertainment. The main participants are bloggers with more than 500,000 followers. The event is essentially an awards ceremony.

Different awards were set up in various fields, making the event comparable to the entertainment industry in China. Ning Buyi was still hesitant; he didn't really want to go to an event where he would be watched. Then Jingjing said something that made it impossible for Ning Buyi to go.

Jingjing: But your boyfriend will go!

Ning Buyi: Really?!

Xiao He will go! Is Xiao He a streamer too? Ning Buyi suddenly became interested, his eyes lit up, and he excitedly pedaled his bicycle on the bed for a while. He had been worried that he wouldn't have a chance to give the ring, and this was like a pillow being handed to him just as he was getting sleepy.

Jingjing told him that Xiaohe would definitely go because Xiaohe is the big boss of Lemon Entertainment. Surprised by Xiaohe's identity, Ning Buyi still decided to participate. He assured her that it was for the money and not because he wanted to find Xiaohe.

The weather in S City is always unpredictable. Yesterday, the air conditioning was blowing loudly in the places with ceilings, but today the air conditioning is blowing even more strongly in the places without ceilings.

Pei Qing pulled his coat tighter and stood at the entrance of the internet cafe. Since Zhu Yanhe wasn't here and no one was stopping him, he had to make sure he secured Ning Buyi even more.

A welcoming greeting rang out at the door. Li Chang looked up at the sound and froze for a moment, wondering who this person was who was treating their little shop like a red carpet.

The newcomer exuded a relaxed vibe. Although his clothes had no logo, the material and cut were clearly not cheap. He had a strange feeling that this guy was here to see Ning Buyi.

Pei Qing smiled politely: "Boss, is Ning Buyi here?"

He knew it; did his son have some kind of money-making ability? But now, not wanting to offend someone who was smiling, Li Chang raised an eyebrow and replied, "What do you want with him?"

The man, with a gentle smile and obedient demeanor, explained his purpose: "I'm his good friend. He's been in a bad mood these past few days, and I wanted to take him to a concert."

I didn't do my homework and didn't know about Ning Buyi's interpersonal relationships. I'll definitely do it next time.

Upon hearing this, Li Chang sized him up, his face full of displeasure. Another "good brother"? Just how many "good brothers" does he have?! But his son does indeed have some relationship problems, and he doesn't look like a bad person…

Li Chang said indifferently, "Then you wait, he hasn't gotten up yet."

Pei Qing frowned and asked, "Can't I go and call him?"

"You think you can just barge into someone's private quarters? Can't you have any manners?" Li Chang glanced at him, finding the man utterly inexplicable. "You let strangers into your home?"

He choked for a moment, shook his head, and sat down at the door as if he were in a local custom. He and Li Chang stared at each other, waiting for Emperor Ning Buyi to get up.

The yellowing shadows of the trees outside the window receded, and a melodious tune filled the air inside the car. The assistant in the passenger seat, however, sat upright with a heavy heart, wondering why his boss's face had turned an unprecedented shade of black.

He had never seen anything like this in the years he had been working there. In the confined space, he didn't dare to breathe, for fear of being kicked out of the car because of the noise.

The man's voice was indifferent: "What time is your flight?"

The assistant, putting aside his thoughts, replied, "Five o'clock in the afternoon."

He responded and looked back at the screen, where Pei Qing had sent a few more messages.

Pei Qing: Brother Zhu, does my baby like Japanese food? I was thinking of taking him to eat Japanese food.

Pei Qing: You might be more familiar with her^^.

"Ha, what a vixen's act," Zhu Yanhe scoffed, her face full of disdain. She pressed the side button and turned off her phone, out of sight, out of mind.

The assistant, holding his phone, would occasionally glance at their CEO in the rearview mirror. In the blink of an eye, their CEO Zhu's face looked even darker, as if he had been smeared with soot!

Ning Buyi didn't close the window when he went to sleep last night. In the morning, the cold wind blew into the room, and his exposed hands and feet shivered. He got up wrapped in the quilt because of the cold.

He slowly moved to close the window, and a gust of wind blew in his face, lifting his hair and waking him up completely. Ning Buyi slowly opened his eyes. Was winter coming?

He slipped back to bed, pulled out his phone, and thought, "Why isn't she replying yet? Fine, she won't reply then!"

downstairs.

A regular customer who came to use the internet during the day was startled when he entered the room by a door god blocking the way on the right.

He jokingly asked, "Hey Mr. Li, when did you hire a handsome young man to attract customers?"

Pei Qing's face fell. He had been sitting there for two hours, and the man in front of him wouldn't let him go upstairs. All he could do was send some baseless messages on his phone to provoke Zhu Yanhe.

Only by outmaneuvering your rival can you better win over Ning Buyi.

Li Chang waved his hand: "Go away, go away, our small shop can't afford to hire him, he's a friend of that scoundrel."

Pei Qingyou said softly, "Good brother..." He's not just an ordinary friend, he's a brother, a good brother you can hug!

"Alright, alright, good brother." Li Chang replied speechlessly to this childish and utterly naive fool.

Near-white light refracted through the automatic glass door as the boy, wearing a hoodie, trousers, and twill slippers, yawned as he came downstairs. Pei Qing had only ever seen those kinds of crocheted slippers at his grandmother's house.

He suddenly stood up and walked towards the stairwell.

Ning Buyi was descending the stairs when someone suddenly burst into his line of sight. He rubbed his eyes and recognized the person: "What are you doing here?"

Pei Qing curled the corners of his lips into a confident smile and asked, "Want to go to a concert?"

"In no mood."

Ning Buyi spoke decisively, pushing aside the person blocking his way and walking straight to the front desk. Ning Buyi didn't listen to music intentionally; he might have heard a song before, but he knew nothing else about it.

Pei Qing followed closely behind, then turned around and said, "I have to go to work today, I don't have time to play with you."

-----------------------

Author's note: [doge] Zhu Yanhe, are you feeling bad?

Ning Buyi becomes quite possessive and a bit cheeky after forming a relationship with someone. For example, when Zhu Yanhe goes out to eat and comes home, Ning Buyi checks him over first. If he smells other perfumes, he gets angry, but usually there aren't any. Zhu Yanhe will hug Ning Buyi tightly and say, "Wife, I missed you so much, I don't want to work." Ning Buyi will then cling to him and say fiercely, "No, you have to earn money for me to spend every day." Actually, Ning Buyi doesn't spend money, but Zhu Yanhe has to earn it. [Starry-eyed]
