"Oh my!" An old woman washing vegetables by the pond saw the woman's strange appearance and shivered in broad daylight. She stood up and called out to her, "Excuse me, whose family are you? What do you want?"
Lin Wanyue recognized her; she was Granny Zheng from the village entrance.
Most of the villagers have gone out to work, and only these children and elderly people like Grandma Zheng have not gone out.
The woman ignored her, staring maliciously at a child who was about to walk past her.
"Hey! Who are you... What are you doing?" Granny Zheng looked around and, not seeing anything of her own, simply grabbed a stick and strode over.
"Stop!" Granny Zheng blocked the child who was being stared at by the woman, her face full of confusion. "Whose child are you anyway? Why are you scaring the child?"
"It's all your fault... It's all your fault! You killed me..." The woman stared at Granny Zheng with venomous eyes, and reached out to grab Granny Zheng's neck.
Grandma Zheng had been holding a stick and was somewhat on guard, but she was still pushed to the ground by the sudden force of the blow.
"Help! Help! Someone, help me! There's a crazy old woman here who's going to kill me!" Granny Zheng was no pushover either; she immediately started yelling as soon as she was pushed to the ground.
Her loud voice immediately attracted the attention of everyone in the village and those working nearby.
But the woman seemed not to hear at all and continued to reach out, trying to strangle Granny Zheng.
"Waaaaah... How scary!"
"Waaaa, Mother..."
The children who were fishing for shrimp by the river were frightened when they saw the woman moving so wildly that they started crying. The older ones were more clever and ran to the riverbank and fields to call for the adults.
