Chapter 242 Wanwan's Flying Talisman

The next morning, Lin Wanyue was not woken up by the familiar crowing of a rooster, but by a little pink butterfly poking her cheek.

"Wanbao, wake up! Wake up!"

"I'm not getting up..." Lin Wanyue pulled the pillow over her head, rolled over on her French-style bed, and said weakly, "I still want to sleep..."

“Even if you want to sleep, you have to go sleep outside first. It’s already dawn outside. What if someone sees you not in bed?” Little Pink Butterfly pulled off her blanket, and the slight coolness finally made Lin Wanyue’s mind clear a bit.

With a thought, Lin Wanyue returned to her room from the villa.

The carved bed was naturally not as comfortable as a Simmons mattress, but Lin Wanyue was still half asleep. The sheets and blankets, which had been aired out, were cool and dry, so she didn't mind closing her eyes and continuing to sleep.

Not long after, Zhou's wife quietly pushed open the door, peeked out, and found Lin Wanyue's small body still nestled in the bed, sleeping soundly, making soft "hoo" sounds.

So Zhou's wife went in, pulled the blanket up to cover her lower abdomen, and since the weather wasn't too bad and she didn't have to worry about her catching a cold, she closed the door and went out.

Little Pink Butterfly and Laifu watched in horror.

Once everyone had left, Little Pink Butterfly quickly patted her chest: "That scared me to death!"

"You stay here and keep watch over Wanwan. I saw from the roof last night that several rats had made holes in this house. I'm going to drag them all out today!" Laifu rolled up his sleeves.

“Okay.” Little Pink Butterfly raised her eyebrows: “These rats are really a nuisance! They eat people’s food and ruin people’s houses. You should go now.”

Laifu slipped out.

He's an old fox after all; for him to shrink himself down and swat a rat is like a dimensional reduction attack.

In less than half an hour, Laifu had cleaned up all the nests of rats that had recently moved into the Lin family's house. Even the dozens of newly born baby rats couldn't escape the fate of being killed; they were all thrown into the pond at the village entrance.

At first, the fish in the pond at the village entrance were scared away, but after eating a few small mice, they all opened their mouths wide and came to wait to be fed.

Laifu found it amusing, so he dug up all the mouse holes in several of the neighbors' houses and threw them in to feed the fish.

Lin Wanyue slept until the sun was high in the sky before she finally woke up.

It was so hot that she was already covered in sweat while she was sleeping.

Zhou's wife had been waiting in the main room of the Lin family. When she heard Lin Wanyue open the door, she quickly went over to greet her and asked if she was hungry and if she wanted something to eat.

Lin Wanyue ate until her stomach was round last night, and she's not very hungry now.

Besides, she didn't really like the cooking of the Zhou family's daughter-in-law. Being away from her parents was a good opportunity for her to eat more junk food.

"Auntie, no need, I'm not hungry yet." Lin Wanyue shook her head. "Are Uncle Zhou and the others catching rats? Could you take me over to see?"

"Yes, yes, yes." Zhou's young wife quickly replied, "They're catching rats. You don't know how scary it is until you try to catch them. When they opened the door, they were shocked. Everyone in the village, young and old, was mobilized!"

"Who knew those rats not only destroyed the village's ditches, but also gnawed on many people's houses. It's a good thing you came back and reminded us of this, otherwise who would have the time to kill rats every day? Even if we killed them every day, we could never get rid of them all."

Rats reproduce so rapidly that villagers usually kill them by beating them with sticks. Even if some people are willing to spend money to buy rat poison in town, once one family's rats die, rats from other families immediately break away and take over their territory, making it impossible to eradicate them completely.

Lin Wanyue's brows furrowed again.

Afraid that she would worry, Zhou's wife quickly added, "But now it's all good. With the smoke and water, even if the rats had nine lives, they wouldn't survive."

“Auntie, don’t worry. After we deal with the rats this time, I will write another talisman for everyone to try to keep the rats away from the ground.” Lin Wanyue said this with a heavy heart.

Even she couldn't wipe out all the rats; all she could do was intimidate them and send any rats that wanted to come running away.

However, this does not prevent others from being harmed by these rats.

Her abilities are limited, and this is all she can do.

"Oh, that's wonderful!" Upon hearing this, Zhou's wife was already overjoyed: "It's all thanks to our village's little fairy!"

"Auntie, please don't say that. I'm not some little deity." Lin Wanyue quickly waved her hand in refusal.

Afraid of upsetting her, Zhou's wife immediately shut her mouth when she heard her say that. Then she remembered something else: "Oh, right, my husband was worried last night. He said he was afraid of delaying sending you back to the city, and that Aunt Liu would worry... Do you think we should send someone to deliver a message back?"

"It's alright, it's alright, I'll go write a letter to Grandma right now!" Lin Wanyue remembered that she was supposed to send a letter to her parents and grandma when she left the Zhou family yesterday, but she was so busy with the delicious food in the villa that she completely forgot about it.

Upon hearing Zhou's wife's reminder, Lin Wanyue quickly ran into the room on her short legs and pulled out a piece of white paper and a pen. She briefly recounted what had happened on the paper and told her grandmother that she would be going back in two days so that she didn't need to worry.

She folded the paper into the shape of a paper airplane and stuck a small flying symbol on it.

The little paper airplane flew towards Liu Junlan, not very fast, and even a little bumpy.

"Oh dear..." Zhou's wife watched the paper fly out of the sky like a white bird.

She kept craning her neck to look, her eyes full of wonder, until the little paper airplane gradually turned into a tiny dot in the sky and disappeared from sight, only then did she reluctantly turn her gaze away.

That little fairy is really amazing!

She could make a piece of paper fly out of her hand.

Lin Wanyue didn't want to eat, but she wanted to help the village get things done as quickly as possible, so she went to Zhou Jiren for help and guidance.

"Wanwan, you're here." Zhou Jiren said excitedly as soon as he saw her. "Don't worry, the rats in the ditch have been almost wiped out. Now that you're awake, I think we can split them into two groups."

“I’ve brought these men here to dig out the ditch. Catching rats isn’t difficult. We can leave it to the children; they can get it done faster that way. What do you think?”

“Yes, that’s fine.” Lin Wanyue nodded in agreement with Zhou Jiren’s statement.

Lin Wanyue made some minor modifications to the previously dug ditch, which can serve to deter animals.
