Chapter 27: Where is the ginseng?

Lin Weiming is starting to panic.

Because he realized he seemed to have lost the ginseng.

That ginseng was meant to be exchanged for silver to pay taxes, to buy some more grain for the family, and to buy some fabric to make clothes for my daughter!

He searched high and low in the house, but he couldn't find a single ginseng root, let alone a small ginseng root.

"Dad, if you're watching over me from heaven, please bless me so I can find the things. Otherwise, Mom will definitely beat me to death! I'm your only son!" Lin Weiming couldn't think of any other way, so he could only kowtow three times to his father's memorial tablet on the altar.

But his father didn't appear; only his little daughter, Lin Wanyue, peeked over and ran over to look at him with her big, round eyes.

"Daddy, what are you doing?" Lin Wanyue had been talking more lately, and her voice was clearer than before, but it was still soft.

Lin Weiming felt anxious, and seeing his little daughter's adorable face made him feel even more distressed.

This is the one whose Wanwan he found...

He just lost it like that!

Lin Wanyue's clothes were made from Xue Fu's old clothes, and the fabric was faded and not very fresh.

"Daughter, I'm so sorry," Lin Weiming said with a bitter face and a dejected expression. "I think I've lost the ginseng."

Lin Weiming felt wronged as he spoke, and couldn't help but explain, "But I clearly remember putting it in the drawer of this altar, but now I can't find it anywhere."

Lin Wanyue: "..."

She opened her mouth, and suddenly her ears turned bright red.

How could she forget to take out the ginseng!

Lin Wanyue's small mouth twitched a couple of times, but she was too embarrassed to tell her father that she had actually hidden the thing.

I don't know if it's because Ning'an Village has such a good atmosphere, or because the copper locks are too expensive.

In short, the Lin family's house had no locks. She saw her father casually put the ginseng in a drawer. Feeling a little uneasy, she carried a small stool and hid the ginseng in her own space villa.

But now she forgot to take it out, and her father discovered that the ginseng was missing.

"Father," Lin Wanyue said with a fawning smile, "Wanwan will hide it well."

Suddenly, a new vista opened up before us.

Lin Weiming was so surprised he couldn't believe it!

He was prepared to be beaten half to death by his mother, but he never expected that his little girl would know where it was!

After Lin Wanyue finished speaking, she quickly ran back to her room with her short legs. Taking the opportunity, she quickly entered her space and, next to the spring in the small garden, pulled a small ginseng out of the flowerpot like pulling a radish.

But after not seeing it for a few days, I found that the little ginseng seemed to have grown even bigger?

The ginseng that was originally as thick as two fingers has now grown to the size of a carrot.

Lin Wanyue was a little puzzled, but she didn't have time to think about it now and quickly came out of the space.

He eagerly handed the small ginseng to Lin Weiming.

"Huh?" Lin Weiming took the small ginseng and also found it strange: "Wanwan, is this really the ginseng we had before? Why does it seem to have grown so much?"

Ginseng is not easy to grow; even decades-old wild ginseng may not grow very big.

Besides, they haven't seen their own dog for only a few days.

How could he have suddenly grown so much!

This is ginseng, not a white radish.

Lin Wanyue's gaze remained firm, her face serious: "No prick!"

Xuefu placed the porridge on the table and rolled her eyes at Lin Weiming: "You have quite the imagination, expecting our family to have several of these?"

"Yeah! If we could get a few more, our family would be rich." Lin Weiming nodded without hesitation.

But deep down he agreed with his wife's words; how could their family have a second one?

I must have misremembered again.

Lin Weiming stopped thinking about it and prepared to eat breakfast before taking the ginseng to the county town to sell.

There were pharmacies and clinics in the town, but Lin Weiming wanted to make more money and pay his taxes, so he planned to go directly to the county town.

He wasn't afraid even if it meant walking a longer distance.

When the children in the family heard that they were going to the county town today, Lin Zhongyuan was indifferent, but Lin Zheyun and his two younger brothers couldn't wait to stick to their father.

"Dad, please take us to the county town!" Lin Zihan clung to his father's arm, looking as pitiful as possible.

Lin Ziqiu, like his brother, clung to his father's other arm, unable to even eat: "Dad, I want to go with you too."

Lin Zheyun couldn't win against her two younger brothers' coaxing, so she could only squeeze through and say, "Dad, take me with you, I'll help you chop wood tomorrow!"

"Father..." Lin Wanyue looked over and said in a soft, aggrieved voice, "Promise me."

Lin Weiming wanted to get rid of his three sons, leaving the left one behind and the right one behind, not wanting to take care of any of them.

"Yes, yes, I've already agreed to Wanwan's request." Lin Weiming shook off the three mischievous kids on his body and picked up Lin Wanyue. "As for you guys, we'll go next time."

The three brothers: "..."

They say next time, but there probably won't be one!

...

The county town wasn't large, but it was bustling with people coming and going, making it quite lively.

Lin Wanyue rode on Lin Weiming's shoulders, looking around.

A pair of round, bright eyes, always busy, finding everything new and interesting.

Shops lined both sides of the street, and some people were selling all sorts of things under the shade of trees, carrying loads on their shoulders. They sold everything from clothing and food to housing and transportation.

There are also many vendors selling freshly made snacks, with a sweet and enticing aroma wafting through the air.
