Chapter 298 What a handsome young man!

"Thank you, big brother!"

Lin Wanyue struggled to pick up the purse containing the heavy silver, and a sweet smile instantly appeared on her peach-blossom-like face.

Her round little face looked even softer with her smile, and her bright eyes curved into crescents like the bright moon in the night sky. Two tiny, pearl-like teeth were inadvertently revealed, making one's heart melt.

Qi Sichen, who was usually calm and composed, softened his expression when he saw such a lovely girl, and looked even more charming in the moonlight.

"Here!" Lin Wanyue stuffed the silver into her father's hand: "Father, don't worry, human traffickers can't possibly have this much silver! Anyone with this much silver can't possibly be a human trafficker."

Lin Weiming was also reluctant to part with so much money, so he gritted his teeth and said, "If you insist on going to the fortune teller tonight, that's fine, but I have to come along!"

"Yes." Qi Sichen smiled slightly and nodded, "That was the plan just now."

After all, she's someone else's daughter, and he can't just let her go out alone; her parents would worry.

"..." Seeing that the other party agreed so readily and gave the money so generously, Lin Weiming felt a little guilty, realizing that he had been judging a gentleman by his own petty standards.

"Wait a moment, it's windy tonight, I'm afraid the child will get cold, I need to go get her a coat to wrap herself in." Lin Weiming said, pressing the door button, but still not letting them in. He tucked Lin Wanyue under his arm and hurriedly ran back into the house.

"What's going on?" The whole family asked, looking at him with some confusion.

Lin Weiming is busy right now.

He shoved the entire silver pouch into Xue Fu's hand, then started rummaging through some weapons he had previously bought for Lin Zheyun, wanting to pick out a smaller one to hide on his person just in case.

Xuefu: "?"

He then briefly recounted what had happened outside the door: "It would be a fool not to make money with so much silver! I'm going out tonight. Eldest and Second Eldest, you two have to stay home and make sure nothing goes wrong. If anything happens, go to the Liu family and ask Young Master Liu for help."

"Oh!" Lin Zhongyuan and Lin Zheyun nodded when they saw the heavy purse of silver.

Seeing so much silver, neither the other family members nor the ghost could bring themselves to refuse.

"Hmm..." The ghosts in the house discussed among themselves, "How about we let the General stay at home? We can go with Wanwan, that way we can look after each other."

Lin Wanyue shook her head and said, "No need, you should stay home and take care of things. I still have my father!"

But Laifu, Xiaofendie, and the others disagreed, and finally decided to decide by playing rock-paper-scissors.

Lai Fu and Hu Jiuyuan went with Lin Wanyue, while the other ghosts stayed at home. If anything happened, they would have to leave a ghost behind to report it.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Liu Junlan hurriedly found a coat for Lin Wanyue and put it on her, saying, "You have to be careful on the road. Your father is never careful, so be careful not to catch a cold. You're still young, and if you catch a cold, you'll have headaches when you get older."

"Okay!" Lin Wanyue nodded obediently.

Lin Weiming also changed into a thicker set of clothes, which allowed him to hide the short blade inside without anyone noticing.

The large crab that had been hidden in his sleeve ended up being given to Lin Zheyun for nothing.

But now Lin Weiming has been blinded by so much money that he can't care about a crab anymore.

...

He picked up Lin Wanyue and followed Qi Sichen and his group to the largest inn in the county. On the way, the group exchanged names.

Qi Sichen claimed to be a businessman from a neighboring province, but Lin Weiming didn't believe him, feeling that the man's demeanor didn't seem like that of someone from a wealthy merchant family who dealt with money every day.

Qi Sichen's face is indeed very handsome, but one cannot ignore his frequent laziness.

This is a kind of arrogance and emptiness that unconsciously emanates from a long period of pampered life.

Because most things in this world are readily available to him and not worth his time or effort, he developed an indifferent attitude. Over time, this led to his detached and somewhat Buddhist-like temperament.

After arriving at the inn, Lin Weiming carried Lin Wanyue and followed them to a secluded courtyard, where they discovered that Zuixianlou was quite a hidden gem.

Upon entering the quiet and unassuming room, a maid quickly lifted the curtain for them. In the rosewood canopy bed with phoenix and dragon carvings, lay a young child, embraced by soft brocade.

His thin face was now burning red, his eyes were tightly closed, his handsome brows were furrowed in pain, and cold sweat was rolling down his face.

The maid next to him immediately took a damp handkerchief, wrung it out until it was half dry, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

However, this was clearly in vain; the child's face still showed signs of pain, and he was covered in cold sweat.

Qi Sichen took two steps over and gently placed the back of his hand on his face. Feeling the burning heat, a hint of worry appeared on his usually indifferent and somewhat cold face.

"Little girl." He turned to Lin Wanyue and said, "Come and take a look."

Lin Weiming and Lin Wanyue now understood that Qi Sichen had spent so much money and gone to such great lengths just to treat the boy in front of them.

Then they had nothing to worry about.

Lin Weiming placed Lin Wanyue on the ground.
