Chapter 307 Being chased by something unseen

"Leave it outside, I'll come get it myself," Qi Sichen said coldly.

It was already late afternoon, nearing dusk.

Ragnarok is the time when gods and demons meet, and it is the easiest time for all kinds of ghosts and monsters to test it.

Qi Sichen dared not gamble with Qi Yuan's life, so he could only be as careful as possible.

"Yes." Upon hearing the order, the person outside placed a heavy object on the ground and then gradually walked away.

Qi Sichen and Qi Yuan watched as the dark shadow on the curtain outside gradually shrank until it disappeared, and only then did they feel slightly relieved.

"Uncle, are you alright?" Qi Yuan asked, his brows furrowed.

He was still young and hadn't experienced much. Only today did he learn for the first time that the reason he had always been weak and sickly was because a vengeful ghost was haunting him and wouldn't let go.

Now that those ghosts have returned, it's impossible not to be afraid.

"It's alright. If you're scared, just hold my hand and we'll go out and take a look," Qi Sichen said reassuringly to Qi Yuan.

Just before leaving, he looked up and saw the sword hanging on the wall, so he took it down and held it in his hand.

This sword was one he had used before; it wasn't just a decorative item that hadn't seen blood.

It is said that swords and knives that have killed people carry a malevolent aura and can ward off evil spirits.

Qi Sichen wasn't sure if these claims were valid, but he could only try his best.

As soon as Qi Sichen pushed the door open, a huge gust of cold wind rushed in, making it hard to open one's eyes.

"Yuan'er, hold on tight to me." Qi Sichen instinctively grabbed Qi Yuan with his elbow, just like Lin Weiming had grabbed Lin Wanyue before, protecting him like a chick.

He brandished his blood-stained sword with his other hand and roared, "Whatever kind of monster you are, show yourself and fight me if you dare! What's with all this hiding and concealing?"

The fierce December winds, comparable to the coldest in Beijing, finally subsided slightly.

"Uncle, what should we do? Look, the sun has disappeared." Qi Yuan looked at the dark clouds and howling wind outside, and was quite worried.

"Don't be afraid! No ghost will dare to harm you," Qi Sichen said as if making a promise, and then loudly called out to his usual subordinates.

But for some reason, we didn't hear a response from them.

Without much hesitation, he picked up Qi Yuan and brandished his cold longsword with his other hand, walking towards the Lin family.

The surrounding winds began to rage again, making it difficult for him to discern the road ahead.

The sand and dust stung my eyes.

"Uncle, go to the left!" Qi Yuan whispered in his ear.

Qi Sichen naturally did not hesitate at all and walked in the direction he was told, but he couldn't help but wonder: "How did you know?"

After all, Qi Yuan had never been to the Lin family before.

"Hmm..." Qi Yuan said after a while, "I don't know either, I just feel that we should go this way, Wanwan should be there."

"..." Qi Sichen did not ask any more questions. Instead, he silently braved the strong wind and followed the direction Qi Yuan pointed out, walking step by step with difficulty towards the Lin family.

The sky had darkened, and a chilling, eerie wind swept through the streets and alleys.

...

The Lin family had already eaten dinner, and because the weather was cool and windy, they couldn't stay outside for too long.

In the quietest corner of the Lin family home, a lamp was still lit, through which one could vaguely see Lin Zhongyuan engrossed in reading a book, with a gray-white figure standing beside him, bending over and carefully pointing out his secrets.

The lights in the other rooms were off, and the room was plunged into darkness and slumber.

Lin Weiming was still awake, tossing and turning in bed, sighing.

"What are we going to do? Wanwan is so young, and she's about to be deceived by a man! It makes me so sad just thinking about it. She's so young, and those scoundrels are no good at all." Lin Weiming cursed through gritted teeth, feeling heartbroken and saddened by his daughter's lack of consideration.

Xuefu lay next to him, rolling her eyes as she listened.

Let's not even talk about how our daughter is growing up and will get married sooner or later; no matter how many times he nags her, it won't change anything.

Besides, Wanwan is only five years old, and that child looks to be only seven or eight years old. They're just playing together, so why is he so concerned about her?

"Alright, alright! If you ask me, you're just a girl, too idle. If you had a few more girls, I don't know how you would have so many eyes to keep an eye on them," Xuefu said, somewhat speechless.

"I don't have that many daughters, do I? Why don't you give me another one?" Lin Weiming hugged his wife, seeking comfort.

Xuefu pushed him aside in disgust, but Lin Weiming came closer again.

The couple were playfully bickering and exchanging intimate sweet nothings when they heard a loud 'bang,' which startled them both.

Xuefu quickly pushed someone: "Go outside and see what's going on!"

Lin Weiming was a little reluctant. He had finally managed to warm up in the blankets, but relying solely on his righteous spirit and anger at being disturbed, he put on his shoes and went outside.

Xuefu was also worried that something had happened, so she put on her coat and followed behind.

As soon as Lin Weiming opened the door, a blast of icy air made it hard for him to open his eyes. Forcing his eyes open, he saw two people dressed in white.

Could it be a ghost?

No, no, no, impossible! Lin Weiming quickly banished the thought from his mind.

The reason is simple: they keep several ghosts in their own home!

If it really is a ghost, there's really no need to be afraid.

But they're also ghost messengers from the underworld? What if they come to catch ghosts?

As he hesitated, the two men took another step closer, and he realized that the two men in white were not ghosts at all, but the Qi family father and son he had seen earlier that day.
