The Lin family's sons were no exception.
However, Lin Zhongyuan and Lin Zheyun were older and could be considered as half laborers, so they couldn't waste time and had to help their father and grandmother with the work in the fields.
She could only watch helplessly as her two younger brothers proudly carried their little baskets to find their younger sister.
Lin Wanyue held a small multigrain steamed bun in her hand, squatted next to the firewood, and chatted casually with Little Pink Butterfly about the price.
"If I chop more firewood, could I have a big little cream cake?" Little Pink Butterfly asked, still chopping wood in her hands.
She chopped wood rather slowly, so she had to put in extra effort in order to get to eat the big cream cake.
Fortunately, as a ghost, she doesn't have to worry about being weak or hurting her body, since she doesn't even have a body right now.
"No way." Lin Wanyue shook her head decisively. "There's not enough firewood. But if you can help Mom wash the clothes, then I can give you a small cake~"
Her storage space is overflowing with supplies, so a small cream cake is no problem for her.
But Lin Wanyue had already thought it through in her little mind. If she gave Laifu and Little Pink Butterfly whatever they wanted, then it would be difficult to negotiate with them.
"..." Little Pink Butterfly angrily slammed the axe down in her hand, shrieking, "You actually expect me to wash your clothes! Washing clothes is such a chore..."
Lin Wanyue didn't dare remind the irritable Little Pink Butterfly that chopping wood seemed to be even rougher work than washing clothes.
"Hmph, it's just a little cake I haven't even tried yet! I don't want it!" Little Pink Butterfly said domineeringly.
Laifu, standing nearby, said cheekily, "Oh my, that ghost can't even get a small cake."
The little pink butterfly narrowed its eyes, looked at Laifu, and said, "Anyway, from now on I'll just steal your cakes!"
“?” Lai Fu was stunned.
"Does that mean I won't be able to eat any more in the future?" Lai Fu was surprised to find that he was the one being gossiped about.
Lin Wanyue stood to the side, chuckling as she stuffed the last bit of the small steamed bun into her mouth.
Just as she stood up, she noticed three incense sticks stuck in the ground beside her and asked curiously, "What's this?"
"Oh, I guess your mother was worried I'd go hungry, so she brought it over this morning. Tell her not to waste her money; it doesn't taste good." Little Pink Butterfly glanced at it.
Lin Wanyue also thought that was the case.
Money can be spent, but it shouldn't be wasted.
So she ran to the kitchen, tugged at Xuefu's clothes, and told her, "Mother, Mother, there's no need to burn incense."
Xuefu is a clean person and is tidying up the kitchen.
“But they’ve already helped your brother chop wood, and they’re so pitiful. We don’t even know if they’ve ever had a full meal before. Now that they’ve come to our house, we can’t let them go hungry.”
"No, she's not hungry." Lin Wanyue shook her head like a rattle-drum.
Besides the milk tea she owns, Little Pink Butterfly also beats Laifu until he cries for his parents and obediently offers him the candy and snacks she scavenged from Lin Wanyue, eating until her belly is round every day.
There was no sign of hunger at all.
Lin Wanyue felt that the little pink butterfly ate more than she did.
Fortunately, I have enough snacks stored in the warehouse of my villa to feed these two gluttons.
"It's not fair to ask people to work for free, is it?" Xuefu still had some doubts.
She had never seen a ghost; all the stories about ghosts and monsters she knew were legends she had heard since childhood.
While some of the ghosts in these stories are good, most are evil creatures that eat and harm people.
She only felt a little relieved after Lin Wanyue said that the little pink butterfly wouldn't harm anyone, but it was impossible for her not to have any thoughts in her mind.
"She didn't work for nothing, she's already taken so many things from me."
"The paper you burned for her?" Xuefu laughed.
Lin Wanyue is only three and a half years old, so naturally, her family can't hide anything she does.
Xuefu had already seen Lin Wanyue secretly burning paper money, but she didn't say anything.
Lin Wanyue was somewhat embarrassed to find that her mother seemed to have discovered her secret. She touched her nose shyly and nodded obediently.
“If you run out of paper, just get some from your older brother. I’ll buy him more later,” Xuefu said with a smile.
"Mommy, you're so sweet!" Lin Wanyue hugged Xue Fuxiang and kissed her, then happily followed her two older brothers out to play.
Lin Zihan wanted to catch fish, so he had already put on his fish basket.
Lin Ziqiu wanted to go to the mountain to pick mushrooms, so he carried a small sickle in his hand.
“Brother, the river has only been rising for a few days, how could there possibly be fish?” Lin Ziqiu said reasonably.
"What if?" But Lin Zihan didn't think so. "When the river was this high before, we could catch fish. If we caught fish, we could go back and make braised fish and drink delicious fish soup. My sister could grow taller."
After the rains these past two days, the river has slowly risen, and it's already higher than the calves of several children.
The river water was murky, but not particularly rapid.
Lin Wanyue felt a little hungry when she heard Lin Zihan mention braised fish, and she swallowed.
"Fourth pot, let's catch some fish! If we can't catch any, we can go up the mountain to pick mushrooms!" Lin Wanyue looked at Lin Ziqiu expectantly.
How could Lin Ziqiu resist such an adorable little sister?
But he still showed the demeanor of an older brother, rolling up his trousers, placing the small sickle and basket on the riverbank, and instructing Lin Wanyue, "Little sister, don't come down, let your brothers catch it!"
