Chapter 60 Weiwei's Gift

Everyone was stunned when they saw Yun Zheng's body covered in wounds.

Although the bleeding from those wounds had stopped, the skin was torn and the flesh was exposed, a truly shocking sight.

Yun Chuwei dug her fingernails into her palm, and her pupils narrowed slightly.

She hadn't expected that even after sending a message to Yun Zheng telling him not to resist, he was still injured to this extent.

Fortunately, it appears to be mostly superficial injury and will not cause any serious damage.

Xie Sheng's brow twitched when he saw Yun Zheng's wounds. He looked at Yu Mian beside him with displeasure and a grim expression.

He had already instructed Yu Mian that even if torture was used, it shouldn't be too obvious. Ideally, Yun Zheng should feel the pain, but on the surface, nothing should be apparent.

He didn't understand how Yu Mian handled things.

Yu Mian knew why Xie Sheng was glaring at him, and he also felt very wronged.

He had clearly given the orders as His Highness the Crown Prince had instructed, and had explained them to them many times, so why were these people still inflicting so many wounds on Yun Zheng?

Originally, Yun Xian's betrayal had no impact on him.

In cases like this, it's common to go astray; at most, you'll get a scolding.

However, once Yun Zheng took off his clothes, revealing his injuries, he couldn't clear his name even if he jumped into the river.

Yu Mian's face turned pale, and he didn't know what to do for a moment.

Yun Chuwei spoke up: "So this is how the Minister of Justice conducts trials? Without any evidence, and without even clarifying the facts, he directly tortures people into confessing! I will certainly report this to His Majesty and ask for His Majesty's judgment!"

Yu Mian gritted his teeth and glared angrily at Yun Chuwei, but dared not say anything.

Yun Chuwei immediately went up and helped Yun Zheng up, saying, "Let's go back first, I'll put some medicine on you. This person can't escape!"

Yun Zheng nodded and left with Yun Zheng.

Seeing this, the others also dispersed.

Fearing retribution from Xie Sheng, Yun Xian immediately fled.

Soon, only Xie Sheng, Yun Lianhua, and Yu Mian remained in the hall.

Xie Sheng's eyes were filled with anger: "Yu Mian! What were my instructions to you?"

Yu Mian hurriedly came out from behind the desk, knelt down in the hall, and said to Xie Sheng, "The matter of interrogating Yun Zheng was entrusted to my subordinates. I repeatedly instructed them not to cause any unsightly wounds! I don't know why this happened! I beg Your Highness for forgiveness!"

Xie Sheng was furious: "Your people, you don't know why they've turned out like this, Yu Mian, I think you're tired of living!"

Yu Mian hurriedly said, "Your Majesty, I will definitely investigate this thoroughly and give you an explanation. However, why did Lord Yun suddenly speak up for Yun Zheng and Yun Chuwei today?"

Yu Mian kept bringing it up, hoping to divert Xie Sheng's attention to Yun Xian and make him forget his mistakes!

Xie Sheng frowned upon hearing this.

Yu Mian reminded him that the main reason their plan failed this time was because Yun Xian betrayed them.

If Yun Xian hadn't betrayed them, Yun Zheng's injuries wouldn't have affected their plans at all.

Xie Sheng couldn't help but look at Yun Lianhua.

Yun Lianhua quickly said, "Your Highness, I don't know why either. Everything I've done has been in accordance with Your Highness's orders! Have I done something wrong?"

Xie Sheng fell silent.

Yes, Lianhua is a simple girl. She has no ulterior motives. She does whatever he asks her to do.

What does Yun Xian's sudden betrayal have to do with her?

"This matter has nothing to do with you, but could you please ask your father for me? I want to know why he changed his mind at the last minute!" Xie Sheng said gently.

Yun Lianhua nodded: "I will ask Father about it!"

Even if His Highness the Crown Prince doesn't say anything, she will go back and find out.

Her father used to love and spoil her the most, so why is he siding with Yun Chuwei and Yun Zheng this time?

-

Yun Chuwei and Yun Zheng left the Ministry of Justice, and Yun Xian caught up with them.

"Yun Chuwei, I've done as you said! Where's Feng'er? Release Feng'er now!" Yun Xian said, looking at Yun Chuwei.

Yun Chu smiled slightly: "Don't worry, he's already back at his place. If you don't believe me, you can go and see for yourself!"

Yun Xian didn't say much and hurriedly boarded the carriage. He was clearly going to check on Luo Jifeng's safety.

Yun Zheng frowned slightly, as he hadn't understood why Yun Xian would speak up for them.

Now I understand. Yun Chuwei must have used someone's life to threaten Yun Xian.

Yun Zheng asked, puzzled, "Who are you using to threaten Yun Xian?"

Yun Chuwei said casually, "His illegitimate son is named Luo Jifeng."

Yun Zheng was stunned, and asked incredulously, "You mean, an illegitimate child?"

Yun Chuwei nodded.

"Haha!" Yun Zheng suddenly laughed. "That's great! That's wonderful!"

For so many years, he had always tried to please Yun Xian. Yet, in Yun Xian's eyes, he was less than a mere illegitimate child!

Yun Chuwei ignored Yun Zheng and instead looked at Sun Jiasheng, who was walking out from inside.

Because the Yun family is involved in today's matter, Emperor Tianqi sent Sun Jiasheng to listen in.

Sun Jiasheng approached Yun Chuwei and bowed to her: "Miss Yun, this old servant will report everything that happened today to His Majesty when I return!"

Yun Chu nodded slightly: "Then I'll have to trouble Eunuch Sun!"

Sun Jiasheng smiled politely: "Miss Yun, you flatter me. This old servant will take his leave now!"

Yun Chuwei nodded: "Take care, Father-in-law!"

After Sun Jiasheng left, Yun Chuwei saw Xie Xuan.

The man was tall and straight, standing not far away, quietly watching her.

She smiled, turned her head, and asked, "Why is Your Highness looking at me like that?"

Xie Xuan stepped forward and stood in front of Yun Chuwei, asking, "Yun Chuwei, are you satisfied with today's result?"

“Of course I’m satisfied!” Yun Chu smiled. “Is Your Highness Prince Xuan not satisfied?”

"Me? I think it's great!" Xie Xuan said.

Xie Xuan didn't say anything; he didn't care whether he was satisfied or not. He was simply happy to see her happy, nothing more.

Yun Chu raised an eyebrow, then leaned closer to Xie Xuan, lowered her voice, and said, "Xie Xuan, how about I give you a gift?"

Xie Xuan looked at the woman so close to him and his breath hitched.

He asked in a low voice, "What gift?"

Having lived two lives, this was the first time he had heard her say she wanted to give him a gift.

Actually, he didn't care whether there was a gift or not.

What he cares about is that she will want to give him a gift.

Yun Chu smiled and said, "Ministry of Justice! Just tell me a name, and leave the rest to me!"

Xie Xuan was taken aback.

He understood Yun Chuwei's meaning; she had a way to make his man the Minister of Justice.

He didn't quite understand why Yun Chuwei was helping him so much.

In her previous life, she seemed to be doing everything she could to help the Crown Prince.

In this life, because the Crown Prince refused to marry, His Majesty bestowed a marriage upon them. Should she help him?

Does she side with whoever is engaged to her?
