At each base, there are people on duty to keep watch at night. In the middle of the night, when everyone is feeling sleepy, the people on duty are also drowsy.
The duty officer at the Dawn Base vaguely saw a fat, bear-like dark figure. When he rubbed his eyes and looked again, he found that the figure had disappeared.
Is this an illusion?
The staff member on duty breathed on the car window, and water vapor quickly appeared on the surface. He raised his arm, used his clothes as a rag, and wiped away the water vapor, making the world outside the window clearer.
"Looks like he's drowsy and sleepy. He's tired, sleepy, and hungry, and I still have to keep watch at night," the staff member on duty complained quietly.
Meanwhile, Song Moshang tiptoed back into the RV carrying the little squid he had knocked unconscious.
Fearing that the little squid wasn't completely stunned, Grandpa Song concentrated his spiritual energy and thrust the spikes into the squid's brain without hesitation, turning its brain matter into a chaotic mess.
Zombies are incredibly resilient. Even if half of their brain is cut off, as long as the crystal core remains, the zombie will not die.
Zombies don't feel pain either, because their pain receptors have long been replaced by the zombie virus. Zombies are hungry all their lives, and their goal is to eat people!
Strangely, the little squid was awakened by the pain! It opened its mouth to scream, but its mind became increasingly confused, and with its head tilted to the side, it fainted again.
Grandpa Song kicked the zombie that was still struggling, and after confirming that it would not move again, he took out a rope and tied the sack tightly.
He patted the sack and said in a whisper, "See you tomorrow, little one."
Having accomplished his great task, Grandpa Song sprayed alcohol all over his body, carefully washed his hands using the seven-step handwashing method, and then climbed up to the bedroom on the second floor of the RV to sleep.
Ye Zhi witnessed everything within her mental domain. She had been awakened by the slight noises Song Moshang made as soon as he left the house.
As long as Ye Zhi is able to control her sleep, she generally won't fall into a deep sleep unless she's in an absolutely safe environment.
She put the sack into her spatial storage, then glanced at her parents sleeping peacefully in each other's arms before entering the space.
"It really is a little squid. Does Grandpa have a penchant for kidnapping handsome zombies?"
Ye Zhi squatted on the ground, looking at the zombie she had dragged out of the sack. She pinched her nose and muttered to herself.
The little squid looked much cleaner than the average zombie; at least he was intact, except for the bloodstains on his head caused by the violent old man.
Based on the wounds on the little squid, Ye Zhi reasonably guessed, "It should be one of the people from the previous batch who ate seafood with the zombie virus and got infected."
Previously, the sack was a sealed environment, so the little squid couldn't smell the scent of human flesh. But now that Ye Zhi had opened the sack, the sweet fragrance emanating from Ye Zhi kept wafting into the little squid's nose.
The little squid's nose twitched like a dog's, and its upper lip trembled involuntarily, revealing its sharp teeth.
The sweet smell of human flesh awakened the unconscious little squid. The little squid suddenly opened its eyes, kicked its legs, and quickly pounced on Ye Zhi, who was squatting on the ground.
The little squid, still groggy and barely conscious, had no idea that Ye Zhi was the person it had feared before. All it could think about was devouring the sweet and delicious baby meat in front of it.
"Certainly!"
Ye Zhi's sweet voice echoed in the empty villa. The little squid drooled as it looked at Ye Zhi, who was so close yet seemed to be separated by a chasm.
A stench of fish and decay assaulted the senses. Ye Zhi, controlling the little squid, arrived at the water dungeon where Song Ranran had been imprisoned before, and roughly threw the little squid into the water dungeon.
The seawater kept lapping and washing away the dirt from the little squid's body. The little squid, which had drunk a bellyful of seawater, floated on the water like a piece of duckweed, making sounds all the time, "Glug glug, ooh ooh, glug glug, ooh!" Glug glug, hungry, glug glug, hungry!
Although Ye Zhi couldn't understand what it was saying, she could tell from its tone that it was cursing fiercely.
She manipulated the surging waves to relentlessly pound the little squid's body, shouting, "Bath time, don't scream!"
The little squid seemed to understand her words, opening its mouth as if to say something, but ultimately chose to keep its lips tightly closed. Its leaden-gray eyes showed obvious fear. It remembered that this aura was the danger it had sensed earlier.
It gave in and stopped bothering Ye Zhi.
Ye Zhi's interest deepened as she watched the little squid suddenly quiet down, enduring the force of the waves like a submissive little victim.
"As expected of an intelligent zombie, it's really good that it can understand human speech."
The little squid obediently cooperated with Ye Zhi, letting the waves wash its body. After the little squid was cleaned by the seawater, Ye Zhi was satisfied and guided the little squid to the shore.
The little squid, now clean, had messy hair, and its white clothes clung to its body, revealing faint abdominal muscles. Its delicate face was filled with confusion and bewilderment, and its leaden gray eyes were full of fear. After being scolded by Ye Zhi, it pursed its lips and dared not utter a sound.
Ye Zhi flew around the little squid once, and kindly dried its soaked clothes, clicking her tongue and saying, "You're actually a zombie with eight-pack abs. You must have worked out a lot before you became a zombie."
Ye Zhi used a banana to pat the little squid's tightly closed mouth. "Weren't you quite vocal before? Make a couple more noises for me to hear." Ye Zhi was 100% certain that the little squid's earlier vocalizations were insults directed at her! She was giving it a bath, and it was insulting her!
The little squid understood Ye Zhi's words. The mental spikes from Grandpa Song had stirred things up in its brain, miraculously opening up the two parts of its brain that controlled pain and language.
A hoarse male voice rang out, "Hungry." The word, just like Ye Zhi's earlier words, seemed to have been forced out of her throat.
Ye Zhi, who was flying in the air, was startled by the little squid that suddenly spoke. "Holy crap, you can talk?"
She confirmed time and again that the little squid was indeed a level one intelligent zombie.
The original novel, "I Became a Queen in the Apocalypse by Relying on a System," mentions that high-level zombies, when they evolve to a certain extent, are almost indistinguishable from humans, able to speak and mimic human behavior.
Ye Zhi immediately gave Tiandao a thumbs up, "good".
The original plot has completely fallen apart. It's rare for the dog to be so oblivious and show some concern for its mother.
Ye Zhi chatted with the little squid in a good mood, "What do you want to eat? I have chicken, duck, pork, beef, lamb, all kinds of seafood, as well as vegetables and fruits."
This time, the little squid's voice is no longer hoarse. The little squid with eight-pack abs has a voice that sounds like a puppy. This contrast is so cute that it's completely captured the heart.
"I'll eat you."
