Fortunately, it was Monday afternoon, and there were fewer vehicles on the road, so Ye Jingyu quickly brought Lu Ke back to the villa.
A few minutes later, Grandpa Song and Ye Yubai returned dejectedly. The two went to several nearby wholesale markets, only to find that they had already been surrounded by the army, and gunfire echoed through the streets.
Grandpa Song shook his head at the people on the sofa, "No supplies were found."
Song Yuanqing spoke first to comfort him, "Dad, it's alright, it's good that you're back safe and sound. I was so worried about you at home."
Yes, my mom and I were really worried. It's okay that we couldn't find the supplies; we have plenty at home and in other spaces.
It's not just a lot, it's more than enough for several people to eat in their entire lives.
Grandpa Song knew this too, but he was thinking far ahead. What if it was an apocalypse all the time? What would happen to Sweet Bean's future children, and their children's children?
When he learned that the zombies were coming, Grandpa Song only regretted that he hadn't worked hard enough before, and that he should have bought more, and even more.
As soon as he got excited, Grandpa Song took Ye Yubai and set off to find supplies.
As a result, they returned disappointed.
Grandpa Song nodded to Song Yuanqing, then pulled a packet of seeds out of his pocket like he was showing off a treasure. "Ta-da! We saw someone selling seeds on the street, so I bought them all."
"These are strawberry seeds that you like to eat, Qing'er. The rest are still in the car."
[Seeds! Grandpa was so clever! Fruits and vegetables were extremely scarce in the apocalypse because people didn't think about preserving seeds in the early stages.]
Grandpa Song smiled sheepishly. He hadn't expected that it was Ye Yubai who had suggested buying the seeds.
He handed the seeds to Ye Yubai beside him, "Little Bai, come on, show everyone what you've got!"
Ye Yubai's plant-based superpower has an exceptional ability to accelerate growth.
He was eager to prove himself; it was time to show them his importance.
Holding a strawberry seed in his hand, he slowly channeled his supernatural power into the seed.
The seeds begin to sprout, the buds grow rapidly, stems and leaves emerge, flowers bloom, and fruit ripens. The fruit changes from white to a mouthwatering red, and the aroma of strawberries fills the air.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that this single seed had produced twenty strawberries within a minute.
Ye Zhi babbled, pointed to the strawberry seeds, then to the strawberries in Ye Yubai's hand, and then stretched out her chubby little hand to Grandpa Song, indicating that she wanted to try it too.
I wish I had plant-based superpowers too.
Come to think of it, she hasn't really tried plant-based abilities yet, and she doesn't know whether her plant-based abilities are more offensive or more healing and regrowth-inducing.
Grandpa Song picked out a plump seed and gently placed it in Ye Zhi's hand.
Ye Zhi grasped the strawberry seed in her small hand and activated her supernatural ability.
The whole family's eyes were focused on Ye Zhi's hands.
A minute later, the seed showed no signs of germination; instead, it visibly shriveled up.
Having spent a long time in the apocalypse, Ye Yubai naturally recognized the use of Ye Zhi's plant-based superpowers at a glance.
Holy crap, this baby's superpower is the perfect counter to his superpower.
Ye Zhi carefully examined the seed in her hand, but before she could react, Grandpa Song, fearing that his granddaughter would be unhappy, immediately offered a way out, "This seed must be dead. Grandpa will give Tian Dou another one."
Grandpa Song selected an even plumper seed, stared at it intently, and threatened it in his mind, "Give me some face, or I'll turn you into a strawberry and eat you!"
Ye Zhi activated her supernatural ability again, and this time the seed was even more noticeably shriveled.
Ye Zhi had a guess in her mind: her plant-based superpower was offensive, and she could absorb the life force of other plants.
Looking thoughtfully at the shriveled seed in Ye Zhi's hand, Song Yuanqing said, "Xiaobai, can you bring the strawberry over to me?"
"Huh?" Ye Yubai didn't really want to go; he always felt that the strawberries were for the baby to play with.
If his guess is true, and this little kid's superpower is the natural counter to his own, his already low status in the family will be even lower.
Ye Yubai has been staying in this family for almost a month now, and before he knew it, he had come to regard himself as a member of the family.
Compare this to the painful experience of being starving and thirsty in the apocalypse, humbly begging Song Ranran for a little food that would trickle from between her fingers.
Ye Yubai felt that it was actually quite nice to live with Ye Jingyu's family. He didn't have to worry about his food, drink, or accommodation; he only needed to cook for them on a daily basis.
Most importantly, he glanced fearfully at Old Master Song's imposing face, knowing this man could hack into his system, and dared not run away.
Ye Yubai was very open-minded. He figured it didn't matter where he lived, so he might as well stay in the Ye family villa, enjoying good food and drink, and slowly complete his mission.
"Xiao Bai, your sister-in-law is calling you!" Grandpa Song felt that this kid had no other merits besides being a good cook; he was dull-witted and slow to react.
Ye Yubai closed his eyes tightly and handed the strawberry plant in his hand to Song Yuanqing.
Song Yuanqing smiled gently at him, "Thank you, Xiaobai, would you like some strawberries?"
"Look at how reluctant you are. It's not like your sister-in-law is eating alone."
Ye Jingyu, with great foresight, took the fruit plate from the living room table and picked the strawberries that had formed onto the plate.
He was the first to pick one up and try it. "It tastes good, very sweet and juicy. Everyone should try it."
After saying that, he picked up a strawberry, wiped it with a tissue, and then held it to Song Yuanqing's lips.
Grandpa Song and Lu Ke also took a few to try the taste.
