Chapter 129 Burned

Xie Chong casually flipped through the pages of the book, his eyes quickly scanning a few lines of text before he could no longer concentrate.

An indescribable emotion welled up inside him, making him feel somewhat agitated.

It was a strange feeling mixed with discomfort and a faint sadness, as if an invisible hand was gently tugging at his heartstrings.

He shook his head helplessly, trying to get rid of this inexplicable trouble, but the strange feeling followed him like a shadow and wouldn't go away.

Turning to look at Xie Xizhu on the other side, I found that she was watching intently, completely absorbed in the story.

Long ago, Xie Xizhu had already noticed that the knowledge and skills learned by the young masters of the manor were significantly different from those learned by the young ladies.

This realization caused some doubt to arise in her young mind.

At that time, Xie Xizhu was still an innocent and curious child.

One day, during a moment of free time, she mustered up the courage to ask her mother and grandmother the question that had been troubling her for so long: "Why do the young masters and ladies in the manor learn such different things?"

Hearing her granddaughter's question, the grandmother smiled and pulled her to sit down beside her, gently stroking her hair and saying, "My dear child, there are differences between men and women in this world."

The challenges and responsibilities that men and women face as they grow up are different, just as if they were on two completely different battlefields.

Therefore, naturally, you can't learn exactly the same things.

The mother, standing to the side, nodded in agreement with her grandmother's statement: "Men will need to venture out into the world and shoulder the responsibilities of the family; while we women will have to manage the household and raise our children."

Therefore, the skills they need to master are naturally different.

Back then, she was young, innocent, and clueless about everything in the world.

However, as the years passed, she grew into adulthood and her mind matured.

Those words and actions that once puzzled her now seemed to have answers, and she seemed to be beginning to understand the deeper meaning behind her mother's and grandmother's words.

She secretly resolved that no matter what difficulties and challenges she faced, she would do her best to do everything perfectly.

To this end, she devoted countless efforts and sweat, working tirelessly day and night to hone her skills and improve her inner qualities.

Everyone in the manor praised Xie Xizhu for having the demeanor of a grandmother at such a young age.

But at this moment, as he flipped through the family rules specifically designed for the young masters, an indescribable sense of sorrow suddenly welled up in his heart.

These family rules are like heavy shackles, binding people's thoughts and actions;

It is like an invisible high wall, blocking the possibility of equal communication between people.

All my perseverance and hard work seemed so absurd in the face of these family rules.

"Stop looking..."

Xie Chong suddenly rushed forward and snatched the family rules from Xie Xizhu's hand.

Immediately afterwards, he threw the book he was holding tightly to the ground.

After doing all this, he slowly raised his head, his cold gaze sweeping over everyone standing in the courtyard.

"They're all meaningless things! What's the use of looking at them? It's better to burn them all."

Xie Chong's voice carried a hint of powerless sorrow.

At this moment, Uncle Cheng, who had been standing silently to the side, was slightly taken aback when he heard this, but he didn't say anything.

When he arrived, the Prime Minister had already given him instructions: do whatever the young master tells him to do!

Standing in the crowd, Rong Ning was so surprised by Xie Chong's words and what he was about to do that she widened her eyes and raised her eyebrows high.

She looked at Xie Chong in disbelief and blurted out, "Young Master Xie, are you kidding us?"

These are the Xie family rules! How can you just burn them like that?!

"Your Highness... I am serious."

Xie Chong's expression was solemn, and he looked at Rong Ning with a firm gaze. He continued, "Our family has always been known for its strict family rules, but it seems that these so-called family rules have not truly achieved equal constraints on everyone in the family. This is obviously unreasonable and unfair."

He paused, took a deep breath, as if to inhale all the dissatisfaction and determination in his heart into his lungs.

Xie Chong stepped forward, his fists clenched and trembling slightly, and continued, "Family rules are the foundation of a family. They should be fair and impartial, and both men and women should be subject to the same norms and constraints. However, this is not the case in reality."

After saying this, Xie Chong's eyes became even more resolute. He turned to look at Uncle Cheng and solemnly said again, "Go and do it... As for Grandfather, I will go and explain the situation myself. If he blames me, I will take the blame."

Upon hearing this, Uncle Cheng was taken aback at first, then his face showed admiration, and he quickly bowed and said, "Yes... young master! This old servant will certainly live up to your mission and do my best to assist you in handling this matter."

Uncle Cheng is indeed a man of action; his agile and nimble figure quickly weaves through the crowd.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared with several burly men, who together lifted an enormous iron pot. The pot was as heavy as a small mountain, yet with their combined efforts, it seemed effortless.

Immediately afterward, Uncle Cheng threw a thick stack of family rules into the pot without hesitation. The papers fluttered down like snowflakes, quickly filling most of the bottom of the pot. Then, someone brought over a bucket of tung oil that emitted a pungent smell. Uncle Cheng took the bucket and evenly poured the golden liquid onto the family rules.
