Chapter 18 Becoming a Mother

In fact, Tu Ling woke up when Fu Xiang hugged her, but she didn't move because she was afraid that the little boy would be embarrassed. She had just driven Zi Ye away and found that Fu Xiang beside her was secretly smelling her scent. She thought that even if such a young child was abused by his mother, he would still be afraid of being rejected by his mother.

"Our Fuxiang smells like milk." Tu Ling said as she stretched out her hands to hold Fuxiang in her arms, resting her chin on the top of Fuxiang's head: "Go to sleep."

Fu Xiang's eyes suddenly became wet. He didn't know why he wanted to cry. He only knew that the person behind him was so warm, completely different from the mother in that cold season.

Should I forgive her?

Fu Xiang turned around awkwardly and faced Tu Ling: "Can you apologize to me?" If you apologize to me, I will forgive you and call you mother. Haven't you always wanted me to call you mother?

"No." Tu Ling answered without hesitation. It wasn't her fault, so why should she apologize? Even if it was to appease her child, she wouldn't be happy to do so. "I can only say that your mother was a complete jerk back then. She really shouldn't have done that."

"Hmph!" Fu Xiang turned back forcefully. He knew this would happen. How could a female bow her head to apologize to him?

The more he thought about it with his eyes closed, the more aggrieved he felt. He suddenly jumped up from the bed and ran out of the cave.

The noise woke everyone up. The first one to react was Tu Ling, who immediately chased after them: "Don't come over, I'll go." The kid was probably too sad, maybe even crying. If his fathers saw him, wouldn't it be so embarrassing?

Tu Ling followed Fu Xiang into the woods. Although the kid was young, he ran very fast. Looking at the unfamiliar environment around him, Tu Ling frowned. It was over. It felt like something was going to happen.

She had no idea where this place was. If she had known earlier, she would not have pretended to be cool and stopped Bai Qi and the others.

"Fuxiang, stop running! It's dangerous at night!"

Fuxiang, who was running fast in front, didn't hear anything at all and rushed forward. Suddenly, he felt he stepped on something soft and then fell down.

"ah--"

When Tu Ling heard Fu Xiang's cry, he immediately stopped and walked forward carefully to investigate the situation.

After pushing aside a bush, I saw Fuxiang, but he was now sunken into the ground.

"swamp?"

Fu Xiang saw that Tu Ling was still walking towards him and immediately stopped him: "Don't come any closer, this is a man-eating demon."

Tu Ling pointed to the swamp at his feet and said, "Are you talking about this?"

"That's right! Don't get close to him. He swallowed an orc from our tribe before and never came back." Fu Xiang sniffed and struggled a few times, only to find that he couldn't break free and was sinking deeper. It looked like he was going to be eaten today too.

Tu Ling looked at Fu Xiang, who was only half an arm's length away from her. She was not panicked at all. She could pull Fu Xiang out in an instant: "This is a swamp, not an ogre. Don't move when you encounter it. Now you just do as I say."

When Fu Xiang heard Tu Ling telling him not to move, he stopped immediately and looked at Tu Ling with hope. He believed that females were wise and great beings and would definitely be able to save him.

"Lean back and try to increase the contact area between your body and the swamp."

Fu Xiang did as she said. His legs had already sunk in, so he could only lean his upper body backwards and half-lying on the swamp.

"Yes, then slowly pull your right leg out. Don't rush, take your time."

Fuxiang slowly pulled out his right leg and felt his back and head sink slightly into the mud, but he still held his breath.

After pulling out his right leg completely, Fu Xiang looked at Tu Ling nervously, who gave him a reassuring look.

He turned around, placed his right leg on the swamp, and began to slowly pull out his left leg. Finally, all parts of his body were pulled out, and Fuxiang wanted to stand up.

Tu Ling quickly stopped him: "Don't stand up, just lie down or crawl over here."

Following Tu Ling's instructions, Fu Xiang lay on his back and moved little by little. When he felt the ground beneath him was no longer wet and soft, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing that the cub was safe, Tu Ling hugged her chest and leaned against the tree trunk: "Hehe, let's see if you dare to run around next time."

She wanted to continue with the flirtatious remarks, but the kid unexpectedly got up, hugged her legs and sobbed.

Tu Ling was a little panicked, wondering if she had scolded him and made him cry. She quickly loosened her arms from hugging her chest, squatted down and hugged Fu Xiang: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been so mean to you."

The kid looked up at her with red eyes: "Say sorry to me, I forgive you." Then he hugged Tu Ling's neck, buried his head in her neck, and shouted muffledly.

"Mother."

Tu Ling was a little touched. She finally became a mother, but at this moment she wanted to say that her sorry was not that sorry. But seeing the little guy crying so sadly, forget it, it didn't matter if she took the blame.

"Oh, forget it, let's go home."

"Hold me." Fu Xiang hugged Tu Ling and refused to let go, acting coquettishly.

Tu Ling had no choice but to maintain this posture. She put her arm around Tu Ling's legs, picked her up, and walked back slowly. But after walking for a while, she remembered that she didn't know the way.

"Fuxiang, do you know the way?"

"I don't know." He was running around without looking at the road at all, otherwise he wouldn't have run into the swamp.

"I have good news for you. Your mother doesn't know the way either."

Fu Xiang finally left Tu Ling's neck and was standing up in her arms. The two looked at each other.

"What should we do then?"

Tu Ling remembered a short video she'd watched before, where she'd learned that the distance between tree rings could be used to determine direction. In the Northern Hemisphere, wider distances indicated the south, while narrower distances indicated the north. The reverse was true in the Southern Hemisphere. This method wasn't very accurate at the equator.
