digging a hole

Tu Ling: .....As if she didn’t ask.

Finally, before dying of thirst, the Tu Ling camp arrived at the Mermaid Sea.

The Mermaid Sea surrounded the Orc Island, glowing a clear blue under the sunlight.

The sea breeze blew in from the horizon, bringing not coolness but the fishy smell of sea water and terrifying heat waves.

Many orcs have gathered on the beach of the Mermaid Sea, carrying prey on their shoulders. Due to the long journey, the prey has begun to rot, and the smell is extremely pungent.

The orcs were looking for a place to hide from the sun.

Tu Ling was too hot to talk, so he just gestured to Yin Hen and the others to go find a place.

But the beach was too wide, without even a slightly larger tree, and there was no place to block the sunlight. Even if there was, it would have been occupied by others.

"What should I do if I can't find a place to hide, female master?" Zi Ye's face was full of anxiety.

Tu Ling took a deep breath, trying to expel the heat from her body: "Let's find a place with soil and dig a hole to crawl into."

“Be careful!”

The Tu Ling camp found a place at the junction of the beach and the land, where they could dig holes and keep an eye on the situation on the sea. As long as the mermaids appeared, they could exchange them for fresh water and salt crystals.

But in fact, Tu Ling doesn’t care much about the mermaids’ fresh water and salt crystals. As long as there is sea water, she can make fresh water and salt crystals by herself. But she is quite interested in the mermaids’ crystals. So can she also exchange them with those orcs for some crystals?

Tu Ling's eyes lit up, there's hope!

"Female master, what kind of hole should we dig?" Shiyi came over with Tieqiu and asked Tu Ling.

Tu Ling picked up a branch from the ground and drew a rectangle on the ground that was two meters wide and three meters long: "Just dig according to this outline, about one meter will be enough."

In fact, Tu Ling wanted them to dig two meters deep so that the living environment would be larger, but seeing how exhausted they looked, he thought better of it. It would be enough as long as they could block the sunlight.

While they were digging the pit, Tu Ling put the animal skin on her head and went to the forest to search for a bundle of firewood. What she lacked the least now was firewood. Looking at the island, she felt that if she lit a fire now, the Orc Island would be finished in an instant.

Tu Ling carried firewood to the beach and took out a small pot. This small pot came with a stove top, which was a little small, but enough. There were four steel poles around the pot, and a conical piece of glass was fixed above the iron pot.

The iron pot was filled with sea water. Tu Ling began to add firewood and light the fire. Soon the water began to boil. Tu Ling no longer cared about the fire at the bottom of the pot, but took out an iron spoon and placed it under the conical glass. As the water boiled, the steam hit the glass and turned into drops of water.

Under the influence of gravity, the water droplets on the glass gather into small streams and flow downwards, eventually dripping into the spoon from the cone mouth.

Get fresh water!

Tu Ling boiled the water over and over again. When the water in the pot was almost dry, she would refill it with sea water. By the time Yin Hen and the others finished digging the hole, Tu Ling had collected half a bucket of pure water.

Yinhen came to find Tuling and found that her face was red at the moment: "Female Master!"

Tu Ling shook her head and saw that it was Yin Hen. "I'm fine. Let me share this water with everyone first."

But Yin Hen didn't go to check the water. Instead, he checked Tu Ling first. After finding that Tu Ling was indeed fine, he went to check the water in the bucket.

He thought the water was seawater: "My Lady, you can't drink seawater."

"It's not sea water, it's fresh water."

Yinhen had always believed in Tuling. Since the female master said the bucket contained fresh water, it must be fresh water. But where did the female master get the fresh water? Hadn't the mermaids yet come ashore? Could the female master make fresh water like the mermaids?

Yinhen looked at Tuling in shock, and only then saw what Tuling was doing: "Madam, are you making fresh water?"

"Um."

Yinhen took a deep breath and calmed himself down.

The female master is so powerful, how can he, as a male, behave so shamefully?

Yinhen picked up the bucket and brought it to Tuling's mouth: "Madam, you drink first."

Tu Ling didn't refuse and gulped down two big gulps.

After drinking, Yinhen stood up and pulled up the hide on Tuling's head: "I'll be right back."

After saying that, he ran away with the water.

Yinhen fed the water to Yinji and Fuxiang first, but when they were drinking, Shiyi almost knocked them over: "You can't drink sea water! Do you want them to die?"

Yinhen wasn't angry. After all, he would have misunderstood her the same way. "It's fresh water. The female master did it."

Shiyi didn't believe it, so he picked it up and took a sip, then said blankly, "It's really fresh water."

This water was not exchanged from the mermaid tribe, and it was even less likely to be obtained by Yinhen, so it could only be... Shiyi returned the water to Yinhen and ran towards Tu Ling.

Looking at Shi Yi's back as he ran towards Tu Ling, Yin Hen lowered his head, as if he didn't need to go back.

"Mastress!"

When Shiyi was still several steps away from Tu Ling, he began to lunge forward, fell heavily into the sand, and rolled and crawled to hug Tu Ling's thigh.

"Madam~, you are so amazing~."

The starry eyes in Shiyi's eyes emitted a light that Tu Ling had never seen before, just like a dog seeing a bone with meat on it.

The reason why Shiyi was so excited was that he felt that following the female master was the best decision he had ever made in his life. He seemed to have seen a better life beckoning to him. No! He was already living a better life. Who else could have fresh water to drink even if the camp was in chaos? He was so happy!

"Madam, can I help you?"

Shiyi was eager to try it. He had never made fresh water before, so it must be difficult. He would definitely listen carefully later!

"Oh, sure. Keep an eye on the fire at the bottom of the pot so it doesn't go out. Fill it up when the water is almost gone, but make sure the spoon is always placed under the cone."

Shiki nodded quickly, and then asked: "And then?"

"No, there's only fresh water in the spoon."

Formula 1:! ! ! !

He looked at the water in the spoon. Was it so easy to get fresh water?

He took a bite and it was real.

"Okay, I'll go check the hole. You stay here and watch. It's okay if the water is gone. Just be careful that no one steals the pot."

Shiyi's face was full of determination: "Even if I die, I won't let anyone take away this blame!"

Tu Ling left with peace of mind and went to the cave. Tu Ling's initial idea was to dig a tunnel, but she felt that it would not be safe if it collapsed, and the tunnel was too narrow. She felt depressed, so she dug such a hole.

Tu Ling took out two wooden boards from the space and placed them over the entrance of the cave, blocking about two-thirds of the area.

After jumping down from the cave entrance which was not covered by wooden boards, the ground was only just below his crotch, not to mention how low Yinhen and the others were when they got down. Tu Ling bent down and crawled into the cave. The area was quite large, two meters by two meters, and everyone should be able to sleep if they squeezed together.

Tu Ling spread an animal skin on the ground and took Fu Xiang and Yin Ji down: "You two should also come down to avoid the sun."
