Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Lu Huai walked into the room easily, and Lu Chao, who couldn't sleep to begin with, was woken up by his two fathers to study.

Lu Huai had been brooding over his youngest son's math test score of 60. Although he couldn't do anything with Jiang Yun tonight, he would accept it if they could enjoy a warm father-son relationship.

So he said to Lu Chao, "Show us your homework."

Lu Chao admitted frankly: "Homework? I didn't do it."

Lu Huai was silent for five seconds, then pointed at Lu Chao and looked at Jiang Yun, as if asking: Is this normal? Is he always like this, or is it just today?

Jiang Yun was no longer surprised by this, and his current mentality was relatively stable: "You write now. If you have any questions, ask your lover uncle, don't come to me."

Despite his poor academic record, Lu Chao was just as obedient as his older brother. He wouldn't even protest when his father spoke, pulling a battered math exercise book from his schoolbag and diving into it.

Lu Chao couldn't finish this for more than an hour. He lay on the coffee table, picking at his fingers, while his father and his lover uncle sat on the sofa behind him.

He was a little puzzled that his father didn't smile and pour a drink for his lover. He actually let his lover tutor his homework so confidently. Did his lover owe his father money?

Jiang Yun knew from just looking at Lu Chao's back that the boy was most likely daydreaming. His Alpha, unaware of the severity of the situation, considerately remained silent, simply to create a quiet learning environment for his son.

Five minutes later, Lu Huai and Lu Chao yawned simultaneously, and it was clear that both father and son were a little bored. Then, Jiang Yun was patted on the shoulder.

Jiang Yun looked at the Alpha beside him and asked with his eyes: Is there something wrong?

Lu Huai understood Jiang Yun's eyes, but no matter how much tacit understanding he and Jiang Yun had, it was impossible for them to communicate completely with their eyes like twins.

Lu Huai turned on his recently installed brain-computer and tapped twice on the virtual keyboard. A moment later, a 3D dialog box appeared above Lu Huai's head: [I haven't had time to say good evening to Foreign Minister Jiang yet.]

...It's a childish trick that only young people would play. They were helping their son with homework, not having a date in the school library.

Jiang Yun didn't want to pay attention to it, but Lu Huai couldn't stand it and poked him again, pointing at the bubble on his head with his fingertips.

The text in the bubble has changed to: [Why is Foreign Minister Jiang ignoring me?]

Jiang Yun called up the brain-computer keyboard with a cold expression and tapped only one key.

The next second, a bubble box appeared above Jiang Yun's head.

Jiang Yun: [? ]

Lu Huai: [There's a pillow I just threw away at the nine o'clock position on the door to Foreign Minister Jiang's cabin. Could you please help me pick it up later?]

Jiang Yun: [What on earth is Colonel Lu doing here?]

Lu Huai: [I can’t sleep, so I came to play with you]

Why do you need to bring your own pillow when playing?

Jiang Yun was just complaining that this way of communication was childish, but now he suddenly typed faster.

Jiang Yun: [I originally thought Colonel Lu was different from other Alphas, but I didn't expect that Colonel Lu is actually no different from them.]

Lu Huai: [Huh?]

With his son by his side, Jiang Yun always pays attention to his wording even if his son can't see.

Jiang Yun: [You all like to think about problems in terms of the House of Commons]

Lu Huai stared at the three words "House of Commons" on his cold-faced wife's head. He wanted to laugh but also felt a little wronged.

Lu Huai: [I just wanted to come see you. Foreign Minister Jiang is mentally unstable, so please don't take me with you. I personally prefer to use the House of Lords to resolve issues.]

Jiang Yun: [Really? Then even if the child isn't here, I'm willing to do that. Colonel Lu, are you just going to take a look?]

Lu Huai: [But then again...]

Jiang Yun knew what Lu Huai wanted to say.

He and Lu Huai were not only a couple, but also an AO couple. Even if it was for the inevitable susceptible period and estrus period, he would have to replace the single bed at home with a double bed sooner or later.

Although it has been seventeen years since I last did it, but... there is nothing I can't get used to, and nothing I can't adapt to.

When they were newly married, didn’t Lu Huai help him adapt quickly?

Jiang Yun's eyes swept across Lu Chao's back, and after confirming that Lu Chao was in a daze, he lowered his head to type.

Jiang Yun: [I want to touch you first]

Upon hearing these words, the slouched Alpha involuntarily sat up straight.

Jiang Yun wanted to touch him? He must have seen it right.

Lu Huai wanted to take another look, but Jiang Yun quickly deleted the bubble frame. Lu Huai lowered his gaze and landed on Jiang Yun.

Jiang Yun probably hadn't taken a shower yet. He was wearing the shirt he wore during the day, and his neck, extending from the open collar, was so white that it was dazzling under the light.

The great diplomat's expression was still cold, but unlike when he was working, this was an unguarded and completely trusting coldness.

It’s like the most precious and beautiful collection in a museum. You thought you could only watch from afar, you thought you had no right to touch it, but then you were pleasantly surprised to find a sign in the corner that said, “Actually, I want to touch you too.”

Lu Huai picked up the water cup and poured himself a glass of water to relieve his sudden thirst.

In order to avoid slapping himself in the face, he tried hard to use the "House of Lords" to think about why Jiang Yun suddenly said this.

Although he still believed that there was no essential difference between Foreign Minister Jiang and classmate Jiang Yun, the consequence of his last forceful kiss on Jiang Yun was that he was sent to the conference room to stand in the corner. Jiang Yun would not be so "cruel".

From this we can see that the only difference between Jiang Yun and before is that he is a little averse to physical intimacy.

Excluding physiological reasons, the next factor is psychological?

...He knew.

Jiang Yun must not have a clear sense of the reality of his return.

Jiang Yun wanted to touch his cheek and feel his body temperature; or touch his chest and feel his heartbeat to confirm that he was really alive.

Thinking of this, Lu Huai's bright eyes were covered with a layer of gray.

Jiang Yun, who had lived alone for seventeen years, still felt insecure.

Lu Huai: [Okay, where do you want to touch?]

Lu Huai faced Jiang Yun, lowered his head slightly, and placed his beating, intact heart in front of Jiang Yun.

However, Jiang Yun's gaze only stayed on his heart for a moment, and then moved to the position above his belt.

Lu Huai wore a black shirt today, the outline of his waist and abdomen still faintly visible under the opaque fabric. The horizontal and vertical lines of the texture were particularly clear when he leaned forward, even rising and falling slightly with his breathing.

Jiang Yun raised his hand and slowly placed his palm on the thin and neat eight-pack abs.

Lu Huai was suddenly stunned.

So, after seventeen years, Jiang Yun took the initiative to touch him again, not his face, nor his heart, but his...abdominal muscles?

Looking at Jiang Yun's hand on his lower abdomen, and then looking at Jiang Yun's cold face, Lu Huai almost laughed out loud.

What is this? What happened to the promise of “excluding the physiological level”?

Where is the promise that Foreign Minister Jiang will be strong yet cold?

Lu Huai grabbed Jiang Yun's wrist and was about to speak when his son in front of him suddenly said, "Uncle, I don't understand this question?"

Jiang Yun: “…”

Lu Huai: “…”

Lu Chao turned around and saw Jiang Yun and Lu Huai sitting at opposite ends of the sofa, at least half a meter apart. The distance was normal, except...

Lu Chao looked at his father, then at his uncle, and thought to himself: This is strange, why do these two adults have expressions that say "Oh no, I almost forgot you were still here"?

Lu Huai asked, "What don't you understand?"

Lu Chao said, "I don't understand any of it."

Lu Huai picked up the exercise book and saw that Lu Chao hadn't solved a single question. He vaguely realized something: "But this question appeared on the test paper where you scored the lowest 60 points. Didn't you know how to do it then?"

"What are you talking about, uncle?" Lu Chao was puzzled. "60 points is my highest score!"

“………………”

Lu Chao couldn't help but feel happy when he thought about the 60 points. "I guessed correctly on five multiple-choice questions and finally passed the exam. I wanted to show that paper to my father to comfort his spirit in heaven."

Lu Huai felt like a nerve in his brain suddenly snapped.

"Colonel, please continue," Jiang Yun stood up and walked towards the desk heartlessly, not caring about her husband's life or death. "I have to go to work first."

After taking his seat, Jiang Yun put on noise-canceling headphones to block out all the desperate, angry, and unbearable sounds from his hearing.

At this moment, his state of mind reached an unprecedented state of tranquility and peace.

An hour later, Lu Chao fell asleep on the exercise book with a broad mind after saying the classic line, "Uncle, don't get excited. I just can't do math. There's nothing I can do about it. It just can't get into my brain."

I slept soundly.

Lu Huai walked to the window and looked at the vast universe outside. Suddenly, he felt like he was in a dream.

Colonel Lu, who was always at ease with everything, showed an expression of doubt about life for the first time in his life.

It turns out that in this universe, there really are tasks that humans cannot accomplish no matter how hard they try.

He did not lose to the alien army, did not lose to the seventeen years of freezing, and did not lose to any intelligent creature.

Tonight, he was defeated by a math problem - a multiple-choice question on trigonometric functions.

He has already shown the most patience he has ever had in his life, and Lu Chao is also learning very hard.

But in the end, both sides suffered losses.

"I don't understand, Jiang Yun, I really don't understand." Lu Huai said blankly, "No matter how dumb a person is, how can he not learn trigonometric functions?"

Jiang Yun covered Lu Chao with his suit jacket and whispered, "Do you know how I usually comfort myself at times like this?"

Lu Huai turned around: "Hmm?"

Jiang Yun reached out and smoothed the boy's hair. "At least he's healthy and living a happy life."

Lu Huai's heart moved slightly. He returned to Jiang Yun's side and together with Jiang Yun, they looked down at the sleeping boy.

A sleeping child and two fathers standing beside him watching him sleep.

This scene made Jiang Yun feel warm and weird.

What’s heartwarming is that when Jiang Yun was hospitalized after giving birth, she often saw the couple in the next ward standing next to the cradle like this, gazing at their newborn baby with tenderness on their faces.

Every time Jiang Yun passed by the couple's ward, he couldn't help but take a few more glances at the scene.

What was strange was that he and Lu Huai were not looking at a fair and tender little baby, but their big baby who was 185cm tall and always failed in math.

Jiang Yun inexplicably felt like laughing.

No matter what, the scene that he had been thinking about for a long time has finally come true.

Although, it was sixteen years late.

"I understand what you mean. Although when I was tutoring him, I really wanted to take him to the [Poseidon's Halberd] and swing him around a few more times, preferably to shake the water out of his brain. However, when I saw his quiet and well-behaved face while he was sleeping..." Lu Huai's eyes softened as he spoke, "I still couldn't help but think..."

Jiang Yun continued Lu Huai's words and said, "I just hope he can be healthy and happy for the rest of his life."

Lu Huai joked, "If you really want two top-performing children, then we can only have one more."

"No." Jiang Yun's tone was filled with blame. "Colonel Lu clearly promised to have only two children with me."

Hearing the exact same tone as seventeen years ago, Lu Huai couldn't help but call out, "Baby?"

Perhaps he was too focused on watching the child, or perhaps he was used to being called so many times, Jiang Yun actually responded to his address: "What are you doing?"

Lu Huai tried his best to suppress the corners of his mouth and pretended nothing happened. He suggested: "Let's go see how Jiang Mu is doing. His good baby must be asleep by now."

Jiang Yun glanced at Lu Huai and asked, "If we run into other people on the road, how are you going to explain the fact that we were traveling together in the living area late at night?"

"No need to explain, others can think whatever they want." Lu Huai said disapprovingly, "Besides, how could you be caught having an affair with me?"

Jiang Yun frowned: "I'm not having an affair."

"Yes, yes, it's Foreign Minister Jiang who doesn't have one." Lu Huai walked around behind Jiang Yun and pushed Jiang Yun towards the door. "We are officially married - by the way, is our marriage certificate still at home?"

Lu Huai asked as he opened the door. As Jiang Yun walked out of the cabin, he saw Morris, sweating profusely, walking towards him and Lu Huai.

Morris's expression stiffened noticeably when he saw them coming out of the same cabin.

Jiang Yun looked up at Lu Huai and said with a smile, "Is this Colonel Lu's 'How could it be discovered'?"

Lu Huai didn't comment, but raised his hand and greeted Morris: "Good evening."

Morris calmed himself down and greeted the two men as calmly as possible: "Foreign Minister Jiang, Colonel, I have an appointment in the training room..."

Jiang Yun nodded and said, "Go and get busy."

Morris almost couldn't wait to flee the scene.

Looking at Morris's departing figure, Jiang Yun said calmly, "Colonel Lu did it on purpose."

Morris would go to the training room every night to train, and he would definitely pass by this road.

Lu Huai crossed one arm and naturally placed it on Jiang Yun's shoulder, and took Jiang Yun towards Jiang Mu's cabin.

"Yes, baby." Colonel Lu, who was exposed, admitted frankly, "I did it on purpose."
