Around 2 a.m., Lu Jianshen was still working when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his stomach.
The consequences of my recent irregular eating habits have finally caught up with me.
He knew it was his old ailment acting up again and wanted to find some stomach medicine, but he found that the medicine cabinet was full of cold medicine, which he hadn't prepared at all.
He immediately called Chen Lei.
In the dead of night, Chen Lei rushed to the Lu family home as quickly as possible.
"Mr. Lu..."
He rushed into the Lu family home.
The noise coming from the living room woke Ah Lu up.
A-Lu rubbed his eyes and groggily got out of bed, only to see his father looking pale as he leaned against the sofa in the living room.
Uncle Chen Lei was frantically searching for stomach medicine, and he was also making phone calls to contact the hospital.
"Uncle Chen Lei, what happened to my dad?"
Chen Lei looked distressed and gently rubbed the child's head.
The relationship between the two broke down, and the one most affected was A-Lu, who should have had a happy and fulfilling family life.
"A-Lu, you stay home for now. Uncle will take your dad to the hospital. It'll be alright, don't worry."
After saying this, Chen Lei quickly helped Lu Jianshen up and prepared to go out.
"A-Lu, don't worry, Dad will be alright."
Lu Jianshen tried his best to appear in a good state so that his son wouldn't worry too much.
A-Lu could still sense it; her father's expression clearly showed he was in pain.
He watched as Uncle Chen Lei helped Lu Jianshen out the door.
At the entrance, the ambulance carrying medical staff was already waiting.
The little guy couldn't sleep and stood alone in the living room.
The tutor rushed down from the third floor and saw the young master standing in the living room.
"A-Lu, it's so late, why aren't you asleep yet?"
"Teacher, my dad went to the hospital. Will he be alright?"
The tutor was woken up in the middle of the night and was so sleepy that she could barely keep her eyes open.
But thinking of her monthly salary of 30,000 yuan, her expression softened a little. She calmed down and coaxed the child, saying, "It's okay, you should go back to sleep and not delay your rest."
A-Lu nodded. He missed his mother and wondered how his father was doing tonight, whether he was in pain, and how serious his stomach ache was.
"Teacher, can I borrow your phone?"
The tutor frowned and handed over her phone.
A-Lu dialed Tang Li's number.
Tang Li had just finished washing up and was about to rest when she saw an unmarked number flashing on her phone screen.
She initially thought it was a wrong number, but somehow a feeling compelled her to answer the call.
"Mom, it's me..."
Hearing her son's voice, Tang Li felt a lump in her throat.
"Ah Lu, why are you calling me so late? What happened? Whose phone is this? Aren't you getting any rest?"
Tang Li asked a lot of questions in one go, and A Lu could only answer according to his own thoughts.
“I was at home. My dad had a stomach ache, so Uncle Chen Lei took him to the hospital. There was no one else at home.”
The little guy sounded a bit lonely, and he completely ignored the tutor standing next to him.
Tang Li immediately became worried when she heard that there was no one else at home.
"Are you okay being home alone?"
"Mom, can you come and keep me company?"
Tang Li was already worried about the child, so upon hearing this, she immediately agreed.
"Wait for me, I'll be right there. You can't go out alone, you know? And don't touch any dangerous appliances."
While on the phone, Tang Li put on a coat, changed her shoes in the entryway, grabbed her bag, and went out.
On the other end of the phone, A-Lu returned the phone to the teacher.
"Teacher, thank you for your phone. You can go home now. I'll explain things to your dad."
The tutor felt somewhat helpless upon hearing this.
"You brat, it's already two in the morning, where do you expect me to go?"
That seems true; it's pitch black outside.
"Then go upstairs to sleep. My mom will be here later, I'll wait for her!"
When the little guy mentioned his mother, his voice clearly rose, and he seemed to be in a good mood.
"Then you can wait in the living room and get some rest later."
At the hospital.
Jiang Xu was on night shift at the hospital when she saw that Lu Jianshen had registered for emergency treatment, so she rushed over immediately.
"What's wrong? Is your stomach acting up again?"
Chen Lei nodded, bracing himself for a barrage of scolding from Dr. Jiang.
But Jiang Xu did not.
"Get him to the ward immediately!"
After a flurry of activity, Jiang Xu carefully reviewed all the test results before finally letting out a sigh of relief.
She was exhausted and glanced at the man resting on the bed.
"I've reminded you before that you need to take good care of your health. Have you been forgetting to eat again lately?"
Lu Jianshen didn't answer, seemingly annoyed by Jiang Xu's chatter. He frowned and turned his head to the other side.
Chen Lei, who was about to enter the ward, stopped in his tracks. He knew that Dr. Jiang's duty, though delayed, would surely come.
"I know you've been preparing to fight for custody of the children lately. Is it so bad that you can't even eat on time anymore?"
Lu Jianshen frowned even more deeply. "Dr. Jiang, who told you about this?"
“My cousin is your company’s lawyer. Don’t blame him for leaking company secrets. I asked him about it.”
Lu Jianshen's expression was rather unpleasant. "He has already leaked my personal information. He doesn't need to come to work tomorrow!"
