Huo Jiansheng helped call a hearse and transported Li Liangsheng's body to the funeral home.
Li Man asked her two children to stay at home with Zhang Yan, and she went to the funeral home with Huo Jiansheng.
After completing the formalities, a farewell ceremony was scheduled to be held three days later.
When Li Man returned home, Zhang Yan had already woken up. She lay on the bed with tears constantly falling from the corners of her eyes.
"Mom!" Riemann walked to the bed and called softly.
"Has your father's matter been settled?" Zhang Yan asked in a hoarse voice.
"It's done. The farewell ceremony will be held in three days." Riemann said with sobs.
Zhang Yan nodded and stopped talking. She stared at the ceiling with lifeless eyes. Her face was full of loneliness and sadness, and tears fell from the corners of her eyes from time to time.
It seemed as if all her energy and spirit had been drained away, as if she had aged ten years in an instant.
Seeing his mother like this, Li Man felt heartbroken and cried, "Mom, Dad is gone, but you still have me!"
Zhang Yan moved her mouth and uttered a weak voice: "Your father is gone, and I am the only one left..."
"No, Mom, you still have me. Duoduo will transfer back here to study, and I will stay at home with you in the future." Riemann said quickly.
Hearing this, Zhang Yan's gray eyes instantly lit up and looked at Riemann, "Really?"
Li Man nodded repeatedly, "It's true, Mom, I will come to accompany you in the future."
"Okay, okay!" Zhang Yan's tears flowed again and she said happily.
"Mom, get up and eat something. You haven't eaten for a day." Riemann said softly.
Zhang Yan shook her head. "You guys eat it. I really can't eat any more."
"How can you not eat? What should I do if you fall down again?" Riemann cried.
Zhang Yan couldn't stop crying, but she still got up obediently.
Li Man helped Zhang Yan out.
"Grandma." Xinyu called out sweetly when she saw Zhang Yan.
"Grandma." Huang Duoduo was not willing to be outdone and also shouted.
Zhang Yan forced a smile and responded, "Hey, good boy."
"Auntie, please come over and have dinner quickly." Huo Jiansheng called out.
"Hey!" Zhang Yan responded and said gratefully, "Mr. Huo, thank you so much."
"Auntie, Li Man and I are friends, you don't have to be so polite to me." Huo Jiansheng said.
Zhang Yan nodded gratefully and sat down at the dining table.
Looking at the food in front of her, she had no appetite at all.
After taking a few bites of rice, she couldn't eat anymore.
Riemann served Zhang Yan another bowl of soup.
After dinner, Zhang Yan called Li Man to the room, took out two property certificates from the safe, handed them to her and said, "This is the dowry that your father and I prepared for you a long time ago, a house and a shop."
Then he took out a passbook and said, "There's one million in it, take it."
"I don't want them." Li Man pushed all the things back, "Mom, these are for you to live on in your old age."
"Silly child." Zhang Yan smiled and said, "Mom has money for retirement, don't worry about me. I should have given you these dowries a long time ago, but you never admitted your mistakes to us, so we kept them until now. Now I will give them all to you. I know it's not easy for you to live outside."
"Mom!" Riemann shouted emotionally, tears streaming down his face.
I regret deeply for what I did in the past.
"Okay, stop crying." Zhang Yan gently wiped away her tears and said, "By the way, what's going on between you and Mr. Huo? Does he like you?"
"No!" Li Man quickly denied: "We are just friends, Mom, please don't say anything nonsense."
