Chapter 46 Kiss Mark
"My senior said you two aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend, Mr. Chen, there's no need to show off like this."
Lin Yujing and Chu Yan walked side by side, quickly heading towards the back door.
As soon as the two walked out of the cemetery area, they saw reporters holding GoPros waiting for them on the only way out.
When the reporter saw her and Chu Yan, regardless of whether they knew each other or not, as long as they confirmed that they had left from Jiang Yingli's tombstone, they went to greet them.
"Hello, are you also a relative or friend attending Ms. Jiang Yingli's funeral?"
"May I ask you both a few questions?"
Chu Yan lowered the umbrella even further, trying to cover their faces from being in the frame.
Finally, seeing the reporter trying to extend the GoPro under the umbrella, Chu Yan shoved the umbrella and car keys into Lin Yujing's hand and said, "Run."
Lin Yujing's mind was filled with the thought that she couldn't appear on the trending searches at the same time as Chen Jingshu.
So when he heard Chu Yan's words, he practically took off running.
It wasn't until she completely shook off the reporters, ran into the car, closed the door, and was panting heavily that she belatedly realized her ankle was hurting.
Lin Yujing gasped, rolled up her trousers halfway, and her ankle was visibly swollen.
She then realized that she had panicked while hiding from the reporters. The rain was most slippery when she ran down the last two steps, and she only managed to maintain her balance by bending her entire instep and twisting it on the ground.
"Hiding from people is really pathetic." Before the indentation on Lin Yujing's ankle had healed, Chu Yan had already pulled open the driver's seat and sat down.
His jacket, which he had draped over his head, was completely soaked. He tossed it haphazardly onto the passenger seat. "Are you okay?"
Lin Yujing pulled down her trouser leg and simply hummed in agreement.
She and Chu Yan didn't have much to say to each other, so Lin Yujing looked out the car window for a long time.
The vast rain curtain was now shrouded in fog, and the people and scenery in the distance were blurred into a hazy, indistinct mass.
Lin Yujing wiped the car window several times with her palm before she finally saw the tall, straight figure striding towards her.
The car door was opened, and a cold wind swept in the subtle scent of ebony and sandalwood, with a hint of wormwood added today.
Lin Yujing quickly made way for Chen Jingshu, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw a group of reporters being stopped by security guards not far behind him.
On a rainy winter day, the flashlights are even more glaring due to the reflection of the raindrops.
Chen Jingshu closed the car door behind him, sat close to her, and kept his gaze fixed on her eyes, motionless.
"What are you looking at?" Lin Yujing asked.
Chen Jingshu narrowed his eyes slightly. "You seem unhappy."
She was indeed a little down, but not because of attending Jiang Yingli's funeral.
Instead, she tried to sneak in through the back door and avoid reporters. Her mind was filled with thoughts of not being able to make the news at the same time as Chen Jingshu, and then she sprained her ankle...
Each and every one of these things was like an invisible tether, pulling at her self-esteem.
Lin Yujing still reached out and poked Chen Jingshu's cheek, trying to hide her inner emotions, "Your face looks like you're about to kill someone."
A hint of weariness lingered in Chen Jingshu's eyes. He raised his hand, took her palm, and rubbed it gently. "I'm just a little wistful, and a little tired."
Lin Yujing sat back a little, letting Chen Jingshu lie down on her lap.
He didn't say anything else, and she didn't feel comfortable asking him directly, though she was actually a little curious about what he and Jiang Yingzhi had talked about alone just now.
Chu Yan started the car, glanced at the black car still chasing closely in the rearview mirror, and muttered, "I have to go to the garage to change cars this afternoon. These entertainment reporters are really annoying."
"Go ahead, same old rules, no sports cars, the rest is up to you," Chen Jingshu said, his eyes closed and Lin Yujing's hand tucked into his chest.
Lin Yujing asked, half out of curiosity, "Why not a sports car?"
In her memory, the group of trendy rich kids from Yijing really liked to drive sports cars around town.
Chen Jingshu patted his leg, "I can't straighten it."
Chu Yan added, "Jing Ge is nearly 189 cm tall. He once sat in a convertible sports car and his head was sticking out of the windshield. His legs were cramped and his whole body felt suffocated, so he prefers this kind of modified off-road vehicle or SUV."
Lin Yujing couldn't help but imagine Chen Jingshu driving a sports car with his head sticking out, especially considering Yijing's latest notice that helmets must be worn when riding electric bikes.
He poked his head out of the sports car, wondering if he would be stopped by traffic police and asked to wear a helmet for safety.
Thinking of this, she burst out laughing.
Before Chen Jingshu could confront her, her sprained ankle suddenly throbbed with pain.
Lin Yujing's expression suddenly changed, and she bent down to touch her ankle.
This was the first time in Chen Jingshu's life that he had been slapped across the chest. Because Chu Yan was still there, he could only feign seriousness and ask, "What happened?"
Lin Yujing pushed him away, saying, "I twisted my ankle on the steps while hiding from the reporters."
Chen Jingshu bent down, pinched her left foot, and placed it on his lap.
Lin Yujing then noticed that her ankle seemed even more swollen than before.
"It looks a bit serious. Let's go to the hospital for an X-ray to check, just in case the bones are injured," Chen Jingshu said.
Lin Yujing was still shaken, especially thinking about the reporters following her car. Who knew if they would take this opportunity to write something else entirely, like, "Instead of going to the hospital, you should just apply some ointment."
"How can this be?"
"I don't want to run into reporters," Lin Yujing said softly, her tone full of grievance.
Chen Jingshu frowned slightly. "So what if we meet? We're both unmarried. Even if I say you're my wife, they can't find fault with it."
Lin Yujing patted his hand and scolded him, "Stop talking nonsense. I think it'll be fine to just apply some medicated wine when we get home."
Helpless, Chen Jingshu took out a can of iced cola from the car refrigerator and used it to cool her ankle down. "If she still doesn't wake up later, we'll have to go to the hospital."
"Okay." In any case, she was in a state of crisis right now and would never risk going to the hospital.
Chu Yan drove around Chang'an Avenue several times until he shook off the black car behind him before stopping downstairs at the Wanxiang Hotel.
Chen Jingshu stopped her from getting out of the car, quickly opened the car door and ran to her side, saying, "If you don't want to go to the hospital, then I'll have to carry you upstairs."
"That's too eye-catching!"
"My wife was injured, so I carried her home. What did I do to deserve this?!"
Ignoring her refusal, Chen Jingshu picked her up in a princess carry, saying, "Don't struggle, or I'll just walk slower and slower."
The handsome man and beautiful woman attracted a lot of attention as soon as Chen Jingshu carried her into the front desk on the first floor.
Lin Yujing buried her head in his chest in embarrassment.
In a secluded corner, neither of them noticed that the reporter who had been left behind earlier was sitting in the rest area, secretly taking pictures of this scene.
-
Once upstairs, Chen Jingshu carried her directly to the bedroom and carefully placed her on the bed. "Sit still and don't move. I'll go get the medicated oil."
Lin Yujing's shoes were off to one side, revealing her two ankles. One was slender and fair, while the other was shockingly red and swollen.
Chen Jingshu returned in less than three minutes, carrying a medicine box, and knelt on one knee beside her bed.
He first rubbed the medicated oil in his palm to warm it, then grasped her ankle, which, even swollen, was only about the size of a hand, and asked, "Does it hurt?"
Lin Yujing placed her hands behind her back, tilting her head to look at his exceptionally gentle movements, "It doesn't hurt."
Previously, there was a height difference between the two, but now that he was in the lower position, Lin Yujing noticed the silver strands flashing at Chen Jingshu's temples.
It seems there are more than before.
He's only 26 years old, and he already has so much gray hair!
Lin Yujing couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.
"What did you talk about with President Jiang today?" The heartache stirred within her love, and she finally asked the question that she had been holding back for so long.
Chen Jingshu paused, looked up at her, and after a moment's thought, said, "He told me that Jiang Yingli is not dead."
Lin Yujing was also shocked, her eyes wide open, her mouth agape, "Miss Jiang, no..."
"She's in Columbus, the capital of Ohio, and Lao Jiang asked me to look after her for him."
Lin Yujing thought of the university she was applying to for her doctoral program, which was located in Columbus, and thought, "President Jiang really is very shrewd..."
"Yes, he's always been like this since he was a child."
"Then why did he entrust them to your care...?"
Lin Yujing bit her lower lip and asked a half-finished question without any context.
It's unclear whether he was secretly jealous of Chen Jingshu taking care of his ex-fiancée, or curious about the future of the relationship between the Jiang siblings.
Chen Jingshu, unaware of the complex thoughts swirling in her mind, simply stated frankly, "Old Jiang has been dismissed and reassigned to the lab. I heard it's a rather remote place, almost like an isolated island."
Lin Yujing said "Oh" and didn't reply.
But he couldn't help but wonder, is this the consequence of openly defying the family?
"What kind of expression is that?" Chen Jingshu asked as he wiped her hands with a wet wipe after applying the medicated oil and a plaster.
Lin Yujing twitched the corners of her mouth and changed the subject, "I got up early today, and I'm just a little sleepy now."
"Really?" Chen Jingshu tossed aside the wet wipes, pulled her close, and collapsed onto the bed. "You're always lying at home, and you're still sleepy?"
Chen Jingshu's company fully resumed operations on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year. He started going to work at seven o'clock yesterday morning.
Lin Yujing, a college student, will be on holiday until after the Lantern Festival before school resumes.
But ever since the two of them lived together during the Spring Festival, Chen Jingshu seemed to have inexhaustible energy.
When he got home from work last night, Yijing was already shrouded in darkness. Lin Yujing was thinking of being gentle and kind, but who knew that helping him take off his coat would lead to something arousing him.
Before Lin Yujing could react, Chen Jingshu had already bent down, hoisted her onto his shoulder, and tossed her onto the bed.
This morning, when she got out of bed, her legs felt slightly weak.
Now, she felt a pair of restless hands. Lin Yujing quickly grabbed his wrist. "Chen Jingshu, can't you think about something else?"
Realizing his thoughts had been exposed, Chen Jingshu simply stopped pretending and said, "I only want you."
"I'm starting to suspect that you're faking your heart condition." She's never seen a heart patient with better physical strength than an average person.
He's more like a tireless, immature teenager in his adolescence.
“Who would fake being sick for no reason? Do you want me to show you your medical records?”
Lin Yujing hesitated, wanting to lie down on one side. "Nothing is as straightforward as this. I'm really scared."
"What are you afraid of?"
"I'm afraid you'll ruin me."
Chen Jingshu held her in his arms, his hand caressing her buttons. "How could I bear to part with her? We still have a lifetime to spend together."
Lin Yujing scoffed coldly, "People say that you can't trust what a man says in bed."
“Jingjing, it’s been so long, and you’ve never told me you love me.” Chen Jingshu barked directly at Wen Chao.
Lin Yujing felt a brief lack of oxygen in her brain, and she gasped softly, "You never told me that either."
"I love you." Chen Jingshu looked at her with sweet eyes, and amidst the sound of rain, he repeated, "Lin Yujing, I love you very much."
Lin Yujing didn't say those words for a long time, pretending to be stupid and changing the subject.
After a long while, Chen Jingshu finally let out a long sigh, "Alright, aren't you tired?"
"A little sleepy."
“…”
-
For those few days, their lives were pretty much like this.
It felt like I was living my own life under this dome of the sky.
Lin Yujing received another message from Zhang Jiale just before the Lantern Festival.
In hindsight, this pure-hearted puppy had been gone for a long time.
Zhang Jiale: [Senior, so you weren't with President Chen after all!]
Lin Yujing scratched her head and glanced at the man who was squatting on the ground pruning the flower branches. He looked like a carefree and leisurely prince.
She couldn't bear to disrupt his life any longer.
Lin Yujing replied: 【No.】
Zhang Jiale: [I was assigned to do an experiment a while ago. Because it involved classified information, all cell phones were handed in, which is why I didn't get a chance to greet my senior.]
Lin Yujing: [Studies are the priority, it's okay.]
Zhang Jiale: [Senior, are you at school? Let's grab a meal together!]
Lin Yujing hadn't seen Zhang Jiale for a while; he'd been spending all his time with Chen Jingshu lately, and she should get used to the separation sooner rather than later.
So I replied: 【Okay.】
Lin Yujing sent Zhang Jiale the address of Wanxiang Hotel, and the two made an appointment to have dinner together on the Lantern Festival.
Chen Jingshu appeared just in time behind her, staring at her phone screen with a furrowed brow. "You're going to spend the Lantern Festival with him?"
Lin Yujing turned off her phone screen and moved away from him. "You're going back to the old house for dinner on the Lantern Festival. I can't just stay here all alone."
Chen Jingshu leaned into her arms, his hot breath burning her chest. "I certainly have no objection to you being with Qi Woxue, but this little girl has been coveting you for a long time, my number one rival in love."
"You've already given me away... and you're still afraid of him?"
“Miss Lin, I haven’t forgotten that I’m just your bed partner, without any official status.”
As he spoke, he began to unhook her bra. "How about you give me a title? That way I'll feel more secure."
Lin Yujing was amused by him and cupped Chen Jingshu's cheeks in her hands. "In my eyes, he is just a simple and cute little brother."
Chen Jingshu frowned, having already pinned her down. "Even if he's a little brother, he's an adult now."
"Lin Yujing, don't forget, I was with you when I was 19, and you were my first time too." As he spoke, Chen Jingshu pulled her fingers and scratched them back and forth on his neck. "You can't just abandon me after starting something."
Lin Yujing withdrew her hand, "It'll get scratched in a minute."
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Chen Jingshu, do you realize you're acting like a complaining woman?"
He quickened his pace, ramming into Lin Yujing until she couldn't speak. "Whose fault is that? If you gave me the title of your legal husband, I don't know how much more sunny and cheerful I would become."
-
On the day of the Lantern Festival, Lin Yujing got up early to put on makeup.
Chen Jingshu stalled for time, insisting on taking her to see Zhang Jiale before he would return to the old house.
"You don't even like him, yet you insist on seeing him."
"He likes you, of course I have to be careful."
The two stepped out of the elevator together and immediately spotted Zhang Jiale standing outside the hotel.
Pure Love Puppy bought a new car, a white Mercedes. Upon seeing Lin Yujing, he immediately fawned over her, saying, "Senior, the East Second Ring Road is too far. It's much more convenient for me to have a car."
Lin Yujing watched as the two men passed overhead, amidst the faint, silent smoke of battle.
Chen Jingshu deliberately unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt, revealing scratches on his neck and several kiss marks he had left on Lin Yujing to seduce her.
Afraid that Zhang Jiale wouldn't see it, she deliberately tugged at her collar and said that it was getting warmer in Beijing and that it was really hot.
Now, even if Zhang Jiale didn't want to pay attention to him, he saw him.
Helpless, Lin Yujing avoided the two and got into the car directly.
Standing outside the car, Zhang Jiale looked completely distraught. "My senior said you two aren't boyfriend and girlfriend at all. President Chen, you don't need to show off like this."
Chen Jingshu narrowed his eyes and deliberately patted his shoulder. "Little kid, your senior said this is an adult game. In her eyes, you're just a little brother, so we're different."
Zhang Jiale angrily slapped his hand off his shoulder, saying with a hint of annoyance, "Seriously, bro? I've been chasing you for two years, and you've only been here for two months, so all my hard work has been for nothing!"
Chen Jingshu raised an eyebrow, seemingly calm, but his tone was full of turmoil, "Little friend. I've been waiting for her for seven years."
