Chapter 128 Wherever Lu Xiangye is, that is Lin Xiaoxia’s home
The summer wind is warm and a little dry. The cicadas above my head are chirping at the top of their lungs, which is particularly noisy in the quiet night.
Lin Zixia sat on the bench downstairs, staring blankly ahead.
After she said out loud the words that had been accumulating in her heart for years, it was as if the depression had finally dissipated, and she suddenly felt relaxed.
But she was not as happy as she had imagined, instead she felt a little confused.
For all these years, she had not fought or argued, nor cried or made a fuss, and had only thought about studying, all for this moment, so that she could confidently accuse them of being irresponsible, express the grievances and injustices she had suffered, and have the courage and confidence to break free from their bondage and make choices according to her own ideas.
She should hold her head high and be in high spirits like a victorious general, instead of sitting here pitifully like a stray dog, not knowing where to go.
She only brought a cell phone and no ID card. Can she stay in a hotel?
She opened the app, took a look, and then exited.
From the apartment building ahead came the sound of an adult scolding a child, as if mad at the child for not learning pinyin well. From next door, the sound of piano music trickled in, a warm yellow light reflected from the windows...
She raised her eyes and stared blankly.
She didn't know how long she sat there when she suddenly felt her face was wet. She raised her hand to touch it and found that she had been crying without knowing when.
She wiped it twice, leaned back in her chair and looked up at the sky. It was already completely dark, without even a star.
She didn't know what to do now.
Should I go back, or go out and find a place to stay for the night?
Suddenly, there was a sound of footsteps behind her, and before she could react, someone patted her shoulder.
"You're sitting here feeding mosquitoes?"
As soon as Lu Xiangye finished asking, he saw the red corners of her eyes and the traces of tears on her face. He panicked and quickly squatted in front of her, "Why are you crying?"
Lin Zixia raised her eyes and saw Lu Xiangye looking at her nervously. She pursed her lips and asked, "Why are you here?"
Lu Xiangye reached out and touched her face, and said softly, "Wu You said he saw you sitting downstairs alone and asked me if I had a fight with you."
"I sent you a message and you didn't reply."
Lin Zixia sniffed and said, "I didn't see it."
Lu Xiangye reached out and tucked the loose hair behind her ears. His fingertips gently stroked the corners of her eyes. His voice was low and gentle, "What happened?"
Lin Zixia's eyes became hot, and the tears that had stopped flowing began to burst out again.
Tears fell one by one, hitting the back of his hand, as if burning his skin, and Lu Xiangye's heart tightened.
I can never wipe it all off.
Lu Xiangye's heart was clenched tightly. He had never seen Lin Zixia cry like this before.
He held her tightly in his arms and gently stroked her back. "If you don't want to talk about it, then don't talk about it. I won't ask anymore. Just cry it out."
Lin Zixia raised her hands and hugged him back, sobbing in his arms.
Summer clothes are thin, and Lu Xiangye felt that the clothes on his chest were soaked with tears. Lin Zixia's sobbing from time to time almost broke his heart.
He didn't say anything, but just gently stroked her hair, bent down and kissed the top of her head, to tell her that he was still there.
I don't know how long it took, but Lin Zixia cried enough and buried her head in his arms. She said softly with a muffled voice,
"Lu Xiangye, I have no home anymore."
In other words, she never had a home.
Ever since she could remember, she could vaguely hear about her life story from relatives and neighbors.
She has known everything since she was a child.
Later, when she went to school and understood more, she wanted to escape, to go out, and to be free.
But she would occasionally doubt herself, wondering if she was not obedient or good enough?
Is gender really that important?
She told herself countless times that it was not her fault.
They are poisoned by deep-rooted feudal ideas, and that is their problem.
But she was still very sad.
Just a few words made Lu Xiangye retract his fingers.
His hands around her froze, and his heart felt like it was being cut bit by bit by a rusty, blunt knife. The bleeding wound mixed with rust was blown in by the cold wind, causing a dull pain that was both sour and astringent, accompanied by a slight feeling of suffocation.
Lu Xiangye moved his lips, only to find that his throat was dry and he couldn't say anything.
He stepped back, held Lin Zixia's face, gently brushed away the hair that was stuck to her face, and lowered his head to kiss her red and swollen eyelids.
"No."
Lu Xiangye rested his forehead against hers, rubbed it affectionately, and said solemnly, as if it was a promise.
"Wherever Lu Xiangye is, that's Lin Xiaoxia's home."
He would give her a home, form a family with her, and make up for everything she lacked in her childhood.
Lin Zixia looked up at him, her nose felt sore, and tears filled her eyes again.
Lu Xiangye looked at her misty eyes and frowned, "Don't cry anymore, your eyes are going to be damaged by crying."
He held the back of her head, bent down and kissed her, his tone threatening, "If you cry again, I will kiss you right here."
Lin Zixia raised his hand and wiped his face, "I didn't cry."
Lu Xiangye rubbed her cheek and said lovingly, "You've cried like a kitten, but you haven't cried yet."
Lin Zixia turned his eyes away and didn't look at him.
Lu Xiangye suddenly leaned in closer and pecked her quickly on the lips.
Lin Zixia was stunned for a moment, his eyes, washed by water, were dark and clear, as if he had not yet recovered from his shock, "Didn't you say..."
Lu Xiangye smiled nonchalantly, "I didn't say I won't kiss you if you don't cry."
Lin Zixia: "Rogue!"
Seeing that she could scold him, he felt relieved.
Lu Xiangye raised his eyebrows slightly, lowered his head and kissed her again, "Only a scoundrel can kiss a girlfriend."
Lin Zixia glanced at him.
Lu Xiangye stood up, but suddenly stumbled and fell towards Lin Zixia. She quickly reached out to support him, "What's wrong with you?"
"My legs are numb from squatting."
Lu Xiangye leaned on Lin Zixia, pretending to be unsteady, with the corners of his lips secretly raised.
Lin Zixia helped him sit down and said, "Who told you to squat all the time? Don't you know how to sit up and talk?"
She punched his leg, "Which one?"
Lu Xiangye: “Two.”
Lin Zixia turned around and saw him smiling triumphantly. She immediately realized, "You lied to me again!"
Lu Xiangye held her hand and said, "I'm not lying to you. I'm really numb from squatting."
But it's not that serious.
The two of them sat on the chairs, and Lu Xiangye put his arm around her shoulders and let her lean on his shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell me when you were wronged?"
Lin Zixia bit her lip and said, "I haven't been wronged."
Lu Xiangye changed the question, "Then why don't you come to me if you're sad?"
Lin Zixia lowered his eyes. "I didn't think too much about it at the time. I just wanted to be alone for a while and calm down."
Lu Xiangye raised his hand and tapped her forehead. "Your way of calming down is to hide here and cry alone?"
Lin Zixia covered his forehead and said stubbornly, "I'm not crying."
"I just... just wanted to vent some emotions."
Lu Xiangye bent his fingers slightly, pinched the soft flesh on her face and shook it, "Remember, you have a boyfriend. No matter what happens, whether you are happy or sad, you have to come to me!"
Lin Zixia: "I understand."
Lu Xiangye loosened his hand, curled the corners of his lips, and said nonchalantly, "The obedient one is the good baby."
After two seconds, Lin Zixia tugged at the corner of his clothes and whispered, "There is indeed a problem now."
Lu Xiangye was very pleased with her reliance on him. His dark eyes looked straight at her, "What?"
Lin Zixia lowered his head and said, "I don't know where to stay tonight."
Lu Xiangye was stunned, glanced behind him, and asked in a low voice, "Why do you say that?"
Lin Zixia bit her lip. She had already threatened Ye Yinghua not to care about her. Even her aunt heard the quarrel. She wondered what she would think of her.
She was embarrassed to go back and didn't know how to face her and Xu Youlin.
Lu Xiangye didn't expect her to think this way. He gritted his teeth and rubbed her hair vigorously. "Lin Xiaoxia, you are quite promising!"
"If I hadn't come just now, what would you have done tonight? Sleep in a hotel or live on the streets?"
Lin Zixia said honestly, "I haven't thought about it yet."
Lu Xiangye laughed angrily, but when he saw her pitiful look with red eyes, he couldn't get angry at all.
He stood up and motioned for her to look back.
Lin Zixia turned around and saw Xu Youlin leaning against the side of the apartment building. He didn't know how long he had been standing there.
"Brother Yulin..."
After Xu Youlin swatted countless mosquitoes from his arms, he saw the brat next door coming over with his sister.
Lin Zixia pursed her lips and stood in front of Xu Youlin, not knowing what to say, like a child who had made a mistake.
Xu Youlin looked at the two people's tightly clasped hands, his forehead twitched, and his eyes turned slightly cold.
But when he saw Lin Zixia's face, which was obviously filled with tears, he pursed his lips but still said nothing.
He followed Lin Zixia since she left the house. It was late at night and they had just had a fight, so he was still worried.
Seeing her sit down on the bench, he didn't follow her. At this time, it would be better to let her be alone for a while.
He leaned against the wall next to the apartment building, looked at his cell phone, looked at Lin Zixia, and then swatted mosquitoes.
I don’t know how long it took, but Lu Xiangye came down.
When Lu Xiangye saw him, he was stunned for a moment, nodded slightly, and went straight to Lin Zixia.
After a few seconds, he saw the two of them hugging each other!!!
Just as he was about to step forward, he heard Lin Zixia crying. He paused and returned to where he was.
Then he witnessed the young couple hugging each other!
Xu Youlin really wanted to hit someone, but looking at Lin Zixia's expression, now was not the time to say that. Besides, it was this brat who had coaxed her into doing what she wanted.
He scratched the mosquito bite on his elbow and reached out to pull Lin Zixia's wrist. "It's late, let's go home."
Xu Youlin pulled Lin Zixia towards the elevator. Lin Zixia looked back at Lu Xiangye.
Lu Xiangye smiled at her and put his hand to his ear as if making a phone call.
Xu Youlin's approach makes her feel at ease.
Then he will just have to bear with it for the time being.
