Chapter 46 Living Under the Same Roof
Lin Zixia has become accustomed to walking slowly to and from school along this Wutong Avenue.
Sometimes she would walk while observing the surrounding buildings and people coming and going, and sometimes she would take it as a rare moment of the day to empty herself, but more often, she would put on headphones and listen to English listening or English songs.
I get out of school at 5:30 and get home around 6:00, and Ye Yinghui has just finished preparing dinner.
"Auntie, I'm back!"
Lin Zixia opened the door and went back as usual. She didn't smell the fragrance of food as usual. She felt a little strange. She looked out and saw Ye Yinghui packing her luggage in the living room with an anxious look on her face.
Hearing Lin Zixia's voice, Ye Yinghui forced a smile, "Xiaoxia is back."
She stood up, looked at Lin Zixia and slowly said, "Xiaoxia, your uncle-in-law was in a car accident and needs surgery. I have to go take care of him."
Lin Zixia's heart skipped a beat, and her eyelashes trembled slightly. "Is it serious?"
Ye Yinghui: "Don't worry, his life is not in danger, but he has no one to take care of him over there..."
"Then you go quickly, auntie. Don't worry about me. I can do it on my own." Lin Zixia said quickly before Ye Yinghui could speak.
Ye Yinghui was very pleased with Lin Zixia's understanding. "I'm worried about you being alone at home. I've already made an appointment with Grandma Lu across the street. You can stay at her house for the time being."
A trace of surprise flashed in Lin Zixia's eyes, and she subconsciously refused, "No need, auntie, I can do it myself."
Ye Yinghui was very persistent, "How can I be at ease leaving you, a little girl, at home alone? I will come back as soon as possible."
Ye Yinghui received the news that afternoon. She was so anxious that she wanted to fly over immediately. But thinking of Lin Zixia, she felt she had to talk to her in person and arrange her future life.
So she booked a flight for the evening, planning to wait until she got back from school and tell her before leaving.
Lin Zixia knew that Ye Yinghui was anxious, and now was not the time to argue about other things. She nodded and said, "I understand, auntie. You don't have to worry about me. Your uncle's health is more important."
Ye Yinghui sent Lin Zixia to Lu's house before leaving with her suitcase. Lin Zixia pursed her lips and said, "Auntie, please be careful. Let me know when you arrive. Also, tell me about your uncle's situation."
"Okay," Ye Yinghui raised her hand and touched Lin Zixia's head, then looked at Grandma Lu, "I'm sorry to bother you during this time."
"What are you talking about? Go quickly, don't worry, Xiaoxia is with me." Grandma Lu said kindly.
Only then did Ye Yinghui feel relieved and go to catch the plane.
Lin Zixia looked at Grandma Lu, feeling a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry to bother you during this time."
Grandma Lu smiled and said, "I watch that brat Xiaoye every day. I wish there was a little girl to accompany me."
Lin Zixia then remembered, "Isn't Lu Xiangye at home?"
I don’t know if he knows about this. I wonder if he will be unhappy if I move into his house like this?
Grandma Lu smiled and said, "I asked him to go downstairs to buy some cooked food and eat later."
Lin Zixia nodded.
Not long after, Lu Xiangye came back with two bags in his hands.
He didn't show any surprise when he saw Lin Zixia. After putting down his things, he calmly went into the kitchen to get the dishes and chopsticks, leaving only a sentence, "Wash your hands and eat."
Lin Zixia quickly followed, "Oh, okay."
At the dinner table, Grandma Lu looked at the gloomy Lin Zixia and comforted her gently, "Don't worry, Xiaoxia. Your uncle's injury isn't serious. He just needs surgery on his leg. You can stay with us for the next few days and treat it like your own home."
Lin Zixia curled her lips and said, "Okay, thank you, Grandma Lu."
"If you need anything, just tell Ono. You're welcome."
Lin Zixia raised her eyes and met Lu Xiangye's dark eyes. She moved her lips and said, "Okay."
After finishing the meal, Lin Zixia stood up to help clear the dishes. Lu Xiangye took the chopsticks from her hand and said, "You're not needed here. Go sit in the living room."
Grandma Lu also advised, "Xiao Xia, don't do anything. Just let him do it. Go to the living room and eat some fruit."
Lin Zixia had no choice but to withdraw his hand.
After dinner, Grandma Lu habitually went for a walk around the community. During school hours, she didn't want Lu Xiangye to accompany her, and she would go to the community alone to talk and chat with the old sisters she knew.
After the door closed, only Lin Zixia and Lu Xiangye were left in the room.
She sat on the sofa and looked back towards the kitchen. She could vaguely see Lu Xiangye's tall figure through the glass door.
Lin Zixia found it a little magical. How could the boy who was so arrogant and fierce at school turn out to be a good kid who could wash dishes when he got home?
And he looked very skilled at it, like he did this kind of thing often.
When Lu Xiangye came out of the kitchen, he saw Lin Zixia sitting upright on the sofa. He chuckled and said jokingly, "Why, it's not your first time here, so you're feeling reserved now?"
Lin Zixia turned around and saw that this person was not like this at the dinner table just now!
There were only two people in the room now. Lin Zixia curled the corners of his lips and said, "How can it be the same? I didn't live in your house before."
Lu Xiangye leaned against the wall with his arms folded, smiling lazily, "It will be the same if I stay a few more days."
Lin Zixia was stunned. Why did this sound strange?
However, since she was going to stay at someone else's house after all, she didn't go too far and said softly, "I'm really going to bother you for a few days."
Lu Xiangye raised his eyebrows slightly, he stood up and walked towards the door, "Come here."
Lin Zixia didn't understand why, but he followed him over.
At the entrance, Lu Xiangye took out a pair of slippers from his bag and handed them to her, "Wear these."
Lin Zixia lowered his head and saw a pair of light yellow slippers with a pattern of a little duck wearing a headscarf on them. They looked soft and cute.
A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. Prepared for her?
Seeing that she didn't answer, Lu Xiangye raised his eyes slightly and asked, "Don't you like ugly things like this?"
Lin Zixia's feeling of being touched lasted only a second. She reached out to take the slippers and replaced them with the disposable slippers on her feet. She said stiffly, "Thank you."
Lu Xiangye handed her another bag, which contained towels, toothbrushes, cups and some daily necessities.
Did he just buy it?
Lin Zixia: "Actually, I can bring these from home."
It's just across the street, just move over.
Lu Xiangye just bought these things when he went downstairs.
He heard about this from his grandmother after he came back from school. When his grandmother asked him to go downstairs to buy something, he went to the supermarket instead.
He didn't think too much about it at the time and just bought it.
"Thank you anyway."
Lin Zixia raised her head and looked at him with curved eyebrows and dimples at the corners of her mouth.
Lu Xiangye twisted his fingers slightly, his eyes moved downwards, landing on the shallow dimple, and he felt like poking it.
He did so.
