Chapter 69 Very Sweet
Lin Zixia walked briskly, like a joyful bird.
She couldn't describe her mood at the moment, she just felt her chest was full and swollen, like iced soda in the summer, gurgling with fine bubbles.
She never thought Lu Xiangye would react like this.
She thought he would be angry.
But he didn't, and she felt a little happy.
It's like when the little schemes and tricks you tried so hard to hide are exposed, but instead of getting angry, the other party enthusiastically plays along with you.
The leaves of the sycamore trees have turned yellow in autumn, and are glowing with warm light under the setting sun.
Lin Zixia couldn't help but smile as he walked home.
Passing by a small shop, there was a ginger cat sleeping at the door. Lin Zixia squatted down and looked at it for a while, then whispered, "Although you've become as fat as a pig, you're still very cute today."
The orange cat didn't know if it understood, but it lazily opened its eyelids, glanced at her, and then turned its head to the other side.
For some reason, Lin Zixia felt that its arrogant and domineering nature was very similar to Lu Xiangye.
"I'll bring you food next time, if I remember."
Lin Zixia stood up, clapped his hands and went home.
When she got home, Ye Yinghui had already prepared dinner.
"Auntie, uncle, I'm back!"
Lin Zixia opened the door, holding pomegranates and oranges bought from the fruit shop downstairs.
Ye Yinghui brought out the dishes and glanced at her. "Hurry up and wash your hands and eat! Why did you buy some fruit? Tell me what you want to eat and I'll go get it."
Lin Zixia curled her lips and said, "I saw these pomegranates at the fruit shop downstairs. They're nice, big and red. Auntie, you like them, right? And my uncle-in-law is home, so someone can peel them for you."
Xu Chengpeng pretended to be serious and said, "Xiao Xia, you make me, your uncle, appear passive."
Ye Yinghui glared at him and said, "Neither of you two is as considerate as Xiao Xia."
"Little cotton-padded jacket is still the best."
Lin Zixia put his schoolbag back in the bedroom, then washed his hands and ate.
At the dinner table, Ye Yinghui asked about Lin Zixia's parent-teacher conference. "My sister was really anxious. I told her to finish lunch before leaving, but she ended up going home so busy right after the parent-teacher conference. She couldn't get any free time."
Xu Chengpeng responded, "Your sister has always been like this. It's not like you just found out on the first day."
Ye Yinghui picked up a shrimp for Lin Zixia and said, "Eat more."
"Thank you, auntie."
After a pause, Lin Zixia suddenly asked, "Aunt, has Lu Xiangye always lived with Grandma Lu? Why haven't I heard him mention his parents?"
The owner of the business, Lu Xiangye, didn't want to bother Grandma Lu, so he simply didn't go to open the business. What about his parents?
Ye Yinghui thought for a moment. "We've lived here for a few years now, and I've only run into them once or twice during Chinese New Year. I heard your Grandma Lu mention that Xiaoye's parents seem to be researchers, traveling all over the country and very busy."
Lin Zixia nodded, "Is that so."
She remembered the model of the Milky Way she saw in Lu Xiangye's bedroom. He seemed to have mentioned that his mother worked in astronomy.
After dinner, Ye Yinghui pushed Xu Chengpeng for a walk downstairs in the community.
When he got into the elevator, Xu Chengpeng was still holding a freshly cut pomegranate in his hand and peeling it with a bowl in his arms.
He felt helpless. "Does it have to be this way? Can't I come back and peel it later?"
Ye Yinghui rolled her eyes at him. "If it weren't for Xia Xia telling me that, I wouldn't have remembered. How long has it been since you peeled a pomegranate for me? When we were dating, you would peel it every day and put it in a box for me. Now that you've cheated on me, you don't cherish it anymore, right?"
"How can I? I'll peel it now and every day from now on."
Xu Chengpeng quickly begged for mercy and cried out in pain, "Xiao Xia, you have caused so much harm to your uncle."
After getting out of the elevator, Xu Chengpeng handed her a handful of peeled pomegranates and said, "Xiao Xia is a thoughtful child. But can you see that she is much happier and more lively today?"
"Your sister came yesterday, and she was incredibly quiet. She didn't say a word. I don't know how they've treated her over the past few years."
Ye Yinghui sighed silently, "We have no right to say anything about this matter. After all, Xiaoxia is in our home now, and she is a beloved child..."
…
Upstairs, Lin Zixia knocked on the door opposite.
Two seconds later, the door opened from the inside. Lu Xiangye stood lazily at the door. Seeing that it was her, he stepped aside and said, "Come in."
When Lin Zixia entered the room, Lu Xiangye bent down, took out her pair of duck slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on the floor, then walked straight into the living room.
Lin Zixia was stunned for a moment, then changed her shoes and followed him, "You still kept your slippers. I thought you threw them away."
Lu Xiangye turned around and glanced at her, "It's not like you're not coming."
Lin Zixia: "Where's Grandma Lu?"
Lu Xiangye: "I went for a walk."
Lin Zixia took out two oranges from his pocket and handed them to him, "I bought them downstairs, they are very sweet."
Lu Xiangye put his hands in his pockets, raised his eyelids and glanced at her, his voice lazy, "Bribe me?"
Lin Zixia: "Can you speak? I'm just happy to share."
Lu Xiangye reached out and took an orange from her hand, tossed it up, and caught it steadily. "Is it really sweet?"
Lin Zixia: "You'll know if you try it."
Lu Xiangye tilted his head, a hint of smile in his dark eyes, "I really should try it."
Although he said so, he had no intention of moving and just stared at Lin Zixia.
Lin Zixia instantly understood what he meant and muttered softly, "You want to enslave me again."
Lu Xiangye bent down, his eyes level with hers. Seeing her unconvinced expression, he raised his eyebrows slightly. "After school, someone told me what she wanted. How could I have forgotten?"
Lin Zixia raised her eyes and glared at him, but she didn't know that her almond-shaped eyes were round, black and clear, and had no lethality at all. They only made people feel cute.
Her cute and pretentious appearance makes people want to tease her and make her angry.
Lu Xiangye moved his fingers, holding the orange in his hand, and stretched out his tone, "I have a bad memory. Maybe if I eat something sweet, I can remember it."
Lin Zixia lowered his head and resigned himself to peeling the oranges for him.
However, Lu Xiangye watched her movements and understood clearly that she was probably treating him like an orange peel and tearing it piece by piece.
It's somewhat personal.
The slightly astringent aroma of oranges spread across his nose. Lin Zixia handed him the peeled orange flesh and said, "Here, try it."
Lu Xiangye took a look and frowned at the white veins on the orange. "Orange peel is bitter."
Lin Zixia: ???
She took a deep breath and said, "This has nutritional value. Eating some is good for your health."
Lu Xiangye: "I don't like it."
Lin Zixia closed his eyes, wishing he could pin Lu Xiangye down and beat him up.
She forced a smile and said, "Okay, please wait a moment."
Then break the orange into segments and carefully clean the white veins on them.
She lowered her eyes and put the peeled orange flesh on a small plate.
"Is this okay now?"
You could tell that she was gritting her teeth.
Lu Xiangye's idea of asking her to peel off the thin film came to an abrupt end.
Enough is enough, Lu Xiangye thought. If he brought it up, she would definitely turn around and leave on the spot, and might even step on him hard before leaving.
He reached out, took a petal and put it in his mouth. The juicy, sweet and sour orange flavor bloomed on his tongue.
Lu Xiangye tasted it slowly, looked at her angry expression, and said nonchalantly, "It is indeed very sweet."
Sweeter than he imagined.
