Chapter 92 New Year

Chapter 92 New Year

At this time, there was no one outside except the children setting off fireworks downstairs.

There was no one in the elevator. Lin Zixia and Lin Zirui stood in a corner respectively, and no one spoke.

After exiting the elevator, Lin Zixia spoke first, "Go ahead and set off your fireworks. We won't interfere with each other."

After saying that, she walked straight out of the elevator.

Lin Zirui was holding the various fireworks and firecrackers he had bought and moved his lips. Before he could say anything, Lin Zixia had already walked away.

He was stunned for a moment, then carried his things to an open place with some disappointment.

Lin Zixia wrapped her scarf around her neck, put her hands in her pockets, and walked slowly along the path in the community.

The dim street lights cast shadows on the leaves and vegetation on the ground.

Lin Zixia walked and walked, then stopped by the pond and looked over. It was pitch black, and all the goldfish had hidden. She stamped her feet, trying to scare out the fish hiding in the cracks in the rocks.

But I still can't see anything.

A bit boring.

She found a stool and sat down, leaning back against it, her neck tucked into her scarf. In the distance, the sounds of children playing and frolicking mixed with the clatter of firecrackers, the air was thick with the atmosphere of New Year's Eve.

She just sat there in a daze.

As I sat there, my hands and feet became cold and chilly.

She stood up and jumped a little, then when she got warm, she sat down, took out her phone, checked her Moments, and then opened Happy Candy Crush.

After passing one level after another, she looked at the time and it was just past ten o'clock.

It turns out killing time is so difficult.

Just as she was about to think about what to do, the phone in her pocket vibrated and she took it out to look.

Lu Xiangye sent her a photo of fireworks being set off, with golden light falling from the sky and sparks flying everywhere.

I've never found children so difficult to deal with. Only by letting them set off fireworks can they calm down.

Lin Zixia curled his lips, raised his hand and replied, "You can take care of children, don't lead them astray."

Lu Xiangye: [I am the king of children]

Did you set off fireworks?

Lin Zixia looked up at the distance, [Yeah, I'm looking at it]

Lu Xiangye was pestered by the children, so he had to put away his phone and light fireworks for them.

Lin Zixia stayed downstairs for another half an hour before going back upstairs.

After waiting in the living room until midnight, the countdown to the New Year's bell rang. Lin Zixia also stood up, said Happy New Year to Lin Anhong and Ye Yinghua, and then returned to the room.

Lu Xiangye sent her a voice message at midnight. She closed the door and clicked on the voice message. A deep and clear voice came out of the phone.

"Lin Xiaoxia, Happy New Year."

I don't know where he came from, and there was some vague noise, like the sound of firecrackers.

Lin Zixia also replied with a Happy New Year, then turned off the lights and went to sleep.

Lin Zixia lay in bed, watching the deafening roar of firecrackers blare in the distance, one string after another. Everyone was staying up, waiting for this moment. She wrapped herself tightly in the quilt and forced herself to go to sleep early.

This New Year seemed no different to her, but it also seemed a little different.

After the first day of the New Year, we start visiting relatives.

Although we are relatives, we don’t actually have to visit many places. We just go to my uncle’s house, and other aunts and relatives will also come to my uncle’s house.

Early in the morning on the second day of the New Year, Ye Yinghua asked them to pack up and took the gifts back to his uncle's house.

Lin Anqiang's home is in a township in Qingjiang County, an hour and a half away by bus. This is also where Lin Zixia grew up.

After Lin Zixia started junior high school, he only came back during the Chinese New Year.

After getting off the bus on the street, you still have to walk along the cement road for a few minutes to arrive. Lin Anqiang's house is right on the roadside.

When they reached the door, Lin Anqiang and Wang Ruofang came out to greet them with smiles, "We're here, come in and sit down!"

Lin Anhong and Ye Yinghua handed over the gift boxes in their hands, and the group greeted each other before entering the house.

Lin Anhong has four brothers and sisters in total, and they get together on this day every year.

Lin Zixia greeted everyone one by one, and the adults chatted with each other on the side.

"I heard Xiaoxia is doing very well in Rongcheng. That's great."

"This child has been well behaved since childhood and has always been at the top of her class. It really makes me worry less. I wish your sister could be like you."

Lin Zixia didn't respond, just smiled and went to play with the child.

The adults would gather together to chat about family matters, their children's studies and daily lives, and then set up tables to play mahjong or poker.

After lunch, everyone chatted on the embankment in front of the house. Wang Ruofang was washing dishes in the kitchen, and Lin Zixia was helping her by rinsing the dishes washed with detergent with clean water and then putting them away.

Wang Ruofang: "Xiao Xia, stop it. You've made your clothes dirty. I'll do it."

Lin Zixia smiled and said, "It's okay, I'll just wear an apron."

Wang Ruofang didn't chase her away anymore and slowly started chatting, "Xiao Xia, are you used to going to Rongcheng? The competition and pressure in the city are fierce. I don't understand all this, but you should get enough rest and don't exhaust yourself."

Lin Zixia said softly, "I'm used to it, I know Auntie."

Wang Ruofang put away the washed dishes and wiped her hands on her apron. "Come with me."

She pulled Lin Zixia into the room, took out a red envelope from the drawer and handed it to her, "You know uncle and aunt are not very capable, use this as pocket money and buy some food."

Lin Zixia waved her hand and said, "I can't have my aunt."

Wang Ruofang took her hand and put it into hers, "This is New Year's money, everyone has it."

But hers is obviously different from others.

Lin Zixia pursed her lips and said, "My aunt usually has pocket money, so there's no need to give me so much."

"Just take it when I tell you to. Why is this kid so disobedient?"

"Now that you're busy with your studies and have gone to Rongcheng, a girl should have some money on hand. Do you think it's too little?"

Lin Zixia bit her lip and said, "Of course not, Auntie..."

"Then keep it. Be obedient." Wang Ruofang stuffed the red envelope directly into her pocket.

Lin Zixia knew he couldn't resist, so he didn't refuse anymore and just kept it in mind.

Wang Ruofang took out a few more red envelopes to give to the other children. When she passed by the living room, she took out a bag of pine nuts from the drawer and stuffed it into Lin Zixia's hand. "Your uncle bought these specially for you when he went to the market. He knew you loved them, so he saved them for you."

Lin Zixia was holding a large bag of pine nuts in a plastic bag, and her nose felt sore. This was something that Lin Anqiang and Wang Ruofang usually couldn't afford to buy.

Listening to the noisy sounds outside, her eyes became hot and she quickly walked into the bathroom and closed the door.

Lin Zixia leaned against the door, tilted her head back, tears rolling down her cheeks.
