Red and white

Red and white

After finishing his trip to Guizhou, Lu Min bought a train ticket back to Nanjing.

He had just placed his order for the tickets when he heard Sang Qi say no.

Lu Min asked curiously, "You're still staying in Guizhou?"

Sang Qi shook his head and laughed, "Now that Qian Ganpeng has been brought to justice, we no longer need to hide."

"Then what?"

Sang Qi's eyes lit up: "And our trip isn't over yet."

"Travel? What travel?" Lu Min looked completely bewildered.

Sang Qi was furious: "You forgot? You're my team leader!"

When the topic of Team Leader Ti was mentioned, Lu Min immediately remembered him.

He smiled apologetically and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't remember for a moment."

Sang Qi sighed, forgave him, and said, "Well, let's finish the rest of the journey. If I remember correctly, there's still Meili Snow Mountain and Yubeng left. It won't be over until we finish those two places."

“Yes, you’re right. I’ll cancel the ticket now.” Lu Min was quick and canceled the ticket in a few seconds. Then he bought a ticket to Shangri-La.

They interrupted their journey in Shangri-La, so they want to start over from Shangri-La.

The next morning, Lu Min and Sang Qi boarded a train from Guizhou to Yunnan.

Starting from Guiyang, go to Kunming, pass through Dali, and finally rent a car in Dali to drive to Shangri-La, heading towards Meili Snow Mountain, and then to Yubeng Village.

This is Lu Min's entire travel plan.

Sang Qi leaned back in his seat and dozed off as soon as he got in the car.

At first, Lu Min thought that the past few days had been too thrilling and that Sang Qi was too tired, which was why she was exhausted. But when he saw that Sang Qi's face was pale and she was covered in cold sweat, she looked like she was sick.

Lu Min reached out and touched Sang Qi's forehead, thinking she had a fever, but to his surprise, Sang Qi's face was cold and her body was trembling uncontrollably.

Lu Min tensed up instantly. He held Sang Qi's shoulders and helped her straighten up: "Sang Qi, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Sang Qi was bent over in pain, his hands pressed against his abdomen, his teeth clenched on his pale lips, trying to endure the splitting pain in his abdomen.

Lu Min was extremely anxious and wanted to reach out and touch Sang Qi's abdomen to ease her pain, but he saw that blood was seeping from Sang Qi's lower body.

The bright red blood flowed out, spilling onto the ground and pooling into a puddle.

Lu Min's pupils contracted sharply, and an unprecedented sense of fear enveloped him.

At this moment, Sang Qi had already fainted, her drooping head resting on Lu Min's shoulder. Lu Min quickly picked her up and shouted, "Flight attendant, is anyone here!"

The surrounding passengers were startled and peered over to see what was happening. They saw that Sang Qi's clothes were covered in bloodstains and there was a large pool of blood under the seat, which was horrifying.

"My God, she's bleeding so much!" a man exclaimed in shock.

"She's bleeding down there! Is she pregnant?" one of the women exclaimed in a panic.

Upon hearing the word "pregnant," Lu Min suddenly froze, his mind going completely blank.

The train attendants who rushed to the scene were shocked to see what was happening and immediately asked if there were any medical personnel in the carriage, but no one answered.

The train attendant glanced at the time and calmly said, "The train is about to arrive at Kunming Station. We have already contacted the Kunming 120 ambulance service. We will take you to the hospital after you get off the train in Kunming!"

For now, we can only wait!

More and more people gathered inside the carriage, all of them onlookers.

At that moment, Sang Qi's breath grew weaker and weaker. Lu Min was helpless and could only try his best to control himself, breathing heavily and gritting his trembling teeth.

But as he lowered his gaze and it fell upon Sang Qi in his arms, his eyes instantly reddened, his nose tingled, and large tears welled up in his eyes, falling onto Sang Qi's cheeks and eyelashes...

The situation was extremely urgent, but just then the train arrived at Kunming Station and the doors opened.

Just as the car door opened, Lu Min disregarded everything, grabbed Sang Qi, rushed off the car, and ran as fast as he could out of the station.

"Sang Qi, hang in there a little longer, hold on!"

The ambulance had arrived, and the medical staff rushed forward to lay Sang Qi flat and quickly pushed her into the ambulance.

Lu Min, his hands covered in blood, grasped Sang Qi's hand, his eyes moist and red, filled with torment and heartache.

………

The entrance to the emergency room at the hospital.

Lu Min sat on the cold bench, his hands behind his head, propped between his legs, waiting silently.

Time slips away little by little, subtly and silently.

Lu Min didn't know how much time had passed; it felt like a very long time, yet also like the blink of an eye.

The door to the emergency room opened, and Lu Min suddenly looked up, abruptly stood up, and stepped forward.

Sang Qi was unconscious and was wheeled into the ward by a nurse. Lu Min gazed at the haggard and pale Sang Qi from afar, his heart clenching, and his eyes inexplicably blurring.

The attending physician removed his mask, stared at the dazed and disheveled man before him, and asked, "Are you a family member of the patient?"

Lu Min nodded listlessly: "I am her husband."

The doctor frowned, his tone reproachful: "What kind of husband are you? Didn't you know your wife was pregnant?"

Lu Min raised his eyelashes, his mouth agape in astonishment, as if struck by lightning.

A tidal wave of emotions surged through his mind, and scenes of his daily life with Sang Qi flashed before his eyes.

"I don't want to move; people get lazy in spring."

"I don't want to eat, it makes me feel nauseous!"

"I think my period is irregular again."

She was pregnant!

As someone who spends every day with Sang Qi, he didn't notice anything unusual about Sang Qi's body and was completely unaware of it!

Damn it!

If he had discovered it sooner, Sang Qi wouldn't have experienced such a terrifying adventure in Guizhou, nor would it have affected the fetus in her womb.

An overwhelming sense of self-reproach overwhelmed Lu Min, leaving him unable to recover for a long time.

"Because of your negligence, your wife miscarried, and the situation is quite complicated. It is very likely that she will have difficulty conceiving in the future..." The doctor sighed as he spoke, "I really don't know what you young people are thinking."

At this moment, Lu Min's world seemed to have lost its medium; all sounds around him vanished into the air, and he could not hear any sound.

He walked blankly toward the ward, like a walking corpse devoid of all senses. From the time he was resuscitated to the ward, his steps were heavy, each step feeling like shards of glass piercing his soles and bones, causing excruciating pain.

He suddenly stopped when he reached the door of the ward.

Standing at the doorway, his gaze slowly fell upon Sang Qi.

Sang Qi lay weakly on the bed, hooked up to an IV drip, her whole being devoid of life and energy, utterly broken.

He no longer had the courage to go in.

He's the one who made Sang Qi suffer; how can he possibly face her?

That was one of the few times Lu Min had cried so hard since he became an adult; it wasn't just a matter of silently shedding a few tears.

He squatted in the corner by the ward door, sobbing softly. His cries were restrained and suppressed, like a stubborn child who was clearly in extreme pain but didn't want to let himself cry out loud.

………

Late at night, the hospital was brightly lit and completely silent.

Sang Qi suddenly opened her eyes, and the sound of her heavy breathing woke up Lu Min, who was taking a nap next to her.

Lu Min lifted his eyelids and saw Sang Qi staring at the ceiling with tears in her eyes, her pillow soaked with tears, leaving wet patches.

Lu Min breathed a sigh of relief and said thankfully, "You're finally awake."

Sang Qi's unfocused gaze suddenly focused on Lu Min, and tears welled up in her eyes.

“I dreamt that you died!” Sang Qi choked up, clearly terrified by the dream.

"Silly girl, I've been watching over you, how could you die!" Lu Min's lips curled up slightly, and then he leaned down and gently placed a kiss on Sang Qi's forehead.

"I won't die. I'll always be there for you. Don't worry, don't be afraid," Lu Min comforted him gently.

Sang Qi pouted, still shaken, and held Lu Min's hand tightly: "Don't go, stay here, okay? I want to be able to open my eyes and see you anytime, anywhere."

Lu Min nodded: "Okay, I won't go anywhere."

………

Three days later, the warm sunlight streamed into the ward, making the room bright and dazzling.

Sang Qi reached out the window and felt the intense heat of the sun, and said, "I want to go downstairs for a walk."

Lu Min, who was peeling an apple, hummed in agreement, quickly finished peeling the apple, handed it to Sang Qi, and then helped her downstairs.

The hospital's garden walkways were built like those in a city park, and it was very pleasant to walk on them. Sang Qi walked back and forth several times before finally sitting down on a stone bench nearby.

She's been lying in bed these days, unable to go anywhere. Since the weather is nice, she wants to move around more and stretch her muscles.

Lu Min was worried that the stone bench was too cold, so he took off his thin shirt and put it on Sang Qi's back.

Sang Qi took Lu Min's hand, leaned on his shoulder, and said blankly, "Will I never be able to have children again?"

Lu Min's eyelashes trembled slightly. He composed himself, covered Sang Qi's small hand with his large one, and said gently, "Don't think so much. We'll have a child in the future."

Sang Qi smiled faintly: "Don't lie to me, I know my situation..."

Actually, Sang Qi didn't realize she was pregnant at first. It was only after she had dealt with Qian Ganpeng's matter that she belatedly discovered she was pregnant.

She was somewhat shocked and worried because she didn't want to get pregnant and have children so early, and she was also filled with a deep fear of pregnancy.

At the time, she planned to leave Guizhou first and go to Dali to have a hospital check-up. If she was confirmed to be pregnant, she would then consider whether to keep the baby or not. Who would have thought that she would have a miscarriage unexpectedly halfway through? Everything happened so suddenly and unexpectedly.

"I'm sorry..." Lu Min said guiltily, "It's all my fault for not taking proper precautions, otherwise you wouldn't be like this..."

Sang Qi sighed, "It's all in the past, I don't want to talk about it anymore. Actually, I wasn't sure whether to keep the child or not at first. Now, I guess it's God's choice for me..."

“But…” Sang Qi’s voice was weak, “the price God paid for making this choice for me was too high. I will never have children again.”

"Don't say that," Lu Min said, dissatisfied. "The doctor just said that it won't be as easy for you to get pregnant again, not that you can't get pregnant again. Besides, I really don't like children. They're a huge problem and they interfere with our sex life. I've never thought about having children!"

Sang Qi just smiled.

She knew that Lu Min said this to put her mind at ease.

“Lu Min…” Sang Qi suddenly called out to him.

"Um?"

"Will you leave me? I can't have children. In reality, if a man knows his partner can't have children, he will definitely leave."

These words ignited Lu Min's fury. He was enraged, but dared not vent his anger on Sang Qi. He could only clench his fists in frustration, his teeth chattering with rage, and he said in a suppressed voice, "Is that what you fucking think of me?"

Sang Qi was dumbfounded.

"I'd give my life for you, and you actually think I'd abandon you just because we don't have children? That's all you think of me?"

Sang Qi immediately sensed Lu Min's anger, and hurriedly hugged him, burying her head in his shoulder, and murmured, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have thought of you like that!"

After a while, Lu Min calmed down and his anger subsided.

He gently massaged Sang Qi's shoulder and said softly, "Can you trust me just this once? I'm not the kind of person you think I am. I admit, I have thought about having a child with you, about having a family..."

He paused for a moment, then continued, “I come from a divorced family. I grew up with my dad, but he didn’t like me much and always treated me coldly. Later, something happened in my family, and I started living a nomadic life. I have never felt the warmth of a family or the love of my parents, so I want to have a family and have my own children.”

"But everything I want comes with one condition: being with you. Without you, all my ideas would be meaningless."

These words filled Sang Qi with deep emotion: "I'm sorry, I was wrong."

"Don't ask me those kinds of questions anymore. My answer will always be you," Lu Min said firmly.

In reality, men may indeed abandon women because they cannot have children, but in Lu Min's eyes, as long as you love someone enough, you can give up having children.

He loved the person, not the person's reproductive ability.

In his relationship with Sang Qi, having a child would be a wonderful thing, but he wouldn't force it; he would let nature take its course.

Most importantly, he was with Sang Qi.

………

A week later, Sang Qi had recovered, but was still somewhat weak.

The planned trip had to be canceled at the last minute, but after being discharged from the hospital, Sang Qi did not return to Nanjing, but went to Lijiang with Lu Min.

Sang Qi said she wanted to stay in Yunnan for a while, as a way to relax after her illness. Lu Min had no objections, so he took Sang Qi to Lijiang.

Lu Min took Sang Qi back to the city where she used to work and live.

Previously, Lu Min lived in Lijiang and owned a small apartment there. After he and Sang Qi arrived, he first bought new home furnishings and tidied up the apartment before letting Sang Qi move in.

Although the house wasn't big, it was in a good location, close to Lijiang Old Town, and the surrounding environment was perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.

After returning to Lijiang, Lu Min did not go back to his original travel agency to continue working as a self-driving tour leader, but instead took on his previous part-time ride-hailing job.

He drives a ride-hailing car all day to earn a little money, while Sang Qi stays at home alone, watching TV, scrolling through her phone, and occasionally going for a stroll around the neighborhood, living a relaxed and carefree life.

In the blink of an eye, more than a month has quietly passed.

Over the past month, Linna and Zaxi knew that Sangqi and Lumin were in Lijiang, so they came to meet them for a meal.

Lin Na asked Sang Qi about her plans for the future. Before Sang Qi could speak, Lu Min interrupted, "Next, we'll hold a wedding for Sang Qi."

Sang Qi suddenly remembered Lu Min's wedding planning and couldn't help but become curious.

Lu Min had already planned the wedding, but so many things had happened in recent days that disrupted many of his plans, so he had a new idea.

Sang Qi rested her chin on her hand and looked at him expectantly.

Lu Min said, "Our journey only includes Meili Snow Mountain and Yubeng. I want to take our wedding photos under the golden sunrise on Meili Snow Mountain and have our wedding in Yubeng. That way, we can finish the rest of our journey together, okay?"

Sang Qi was slightly taken aback, and a dream she had before suddenly surfaced in her mind.

The dream was beautiful and hazy. She still remembers standing at the foot of the mountains in Yubeng, reaching out to touch the warm sunlight and sensing the direction of the wind in the mountains.

The wild breeze was so gentle and refreshing, cool and invigorating.

Sang Qi had never been so attached to a dream.

At that moment, Lu Min's voice could be faintly heard in the wind.

He called her name in the wind.

Sang Qi turned around at the sound, and the wind lifted her long hair, which danced and fluttered freely in the sunlight.

Her gaze pierced through the light refracted from the snow-capped mountains, fixed on Lu Min not far away.

He stood with his back to the wind, like a small mountain standing tall and majestic.

When Sang Qi met his clear eyes, she smiled brightly, her smile as radiant as the sun.

Her bright smile made him laugh too.

In the mountains and wilderness, the wind howls, as if telling ancient secrets.

They smiled at each other, their smiles conveying a myriad of emotions and longings between them.

Wild wind, please keep blowing, this road trip isn't over yet.
