After the wedding, everyone went home.
Xiong Ruoyou drove her car at high speed through the empty street corner.
In the past three years, she has learned to drive.
Driving, she glanced at the navigation system on the screen. When she arrived at her destination, she took the things she had bought on the street and got out of the car.
She walked alone down the quiet corridor after passing through the smart security gate, climbed a few steps, and stopped in front of a tombstone.
The surroundings were pitch black, and a chilling wind was blowing. The scene looked like it was filming a horror movie.
She took out the small lanterns she had bought, along with her phone which was also lit up, and placed them in front of the grave, illuminating the path and allowing her to clearly see the photo and name on the tombstone.
"Fan Xuanye, I've come to see you." Xiong Ruoyou looked at the only tombstone in front of her, sighed, slowly squatted down, and put everything she was holding on the ground.
Looking at the pile of things, she thought for a moment, then reached out and arranged them one by one.
"I'm sorry, there aren't many shops open on the street at this time, so these are the only things I can buy."
Xiong Ruoyou arranged the items neatly; they were all puffed snacks, which Fan Xuanye definitely wouldn't like to eat.
"If you were still alive, seeing these things, you probably wouldn't eat them even if you were starving." She laughed self-deprecatingly, opened two cans of beer, took one for herself, and placed the other in front of Fan Xuanye's tomb.
I took a sip of beer; the taste was pungent and irritating, nothing like the beer at Mu Qingyun's wedding.
"Brother Mu and General Su got married today. They are a perfect match. It's like their hard times have finally come to an end." Xiong Ruoyou took another sip of beer. "It tastes awful. It's nowhere near as good as the beer at Brother Mu's wedding."
She shook the beer she'd barely drunk and casually put it on the ground. "You know, if you were still alive, I could take you to Brother Mu's wedding, to eat delicious food and drink fine wine."
She turned her head and glanced at the photo on the tombstone. It was Fan Xuanye's ID photo taken when she was in military school. Back then, she was an innocent and naive little girl, full of hope for the future.
"It's a pity you're dead."
The fragments of the past suddenly vanished like bubbles. She couldn't help but reach out and touch the tombstone, hoping to find some comfort, but instead touched a cold hand.
The cool sensation spread slowly from my hands toward my heart.
"Now that you're dead, you won't be able to decide what you eat or drink. Whatever I want to bring you, you'll have to eat it."
A sour feeling rose in her nose. She blinked, then felt a sharp pain in her eyes and quickly closed them. But tears still streamed down her face as she closed her eyes.
"Ugh, it must be because the wind is too strong," she muttered to herself, wiping away the tears on her cheeks. The wind was so strong that her cheeks would sting if she didn't wipe them away in time.
"Fan Xuanye, I'm not afraid of anything now. Nothing can frighten me anymore." Xiong Ruoyou said for a while, then felt her mouth was dry.
In this situation, you should still drink some water.
After thinking for a moment, she picked up the beer that was on the ground and gulped it down.
The unpleasant liquid went down her throat, but she felt nothing at all.
"Do you remember the day I confessed my feelings to you? I had thought about it for a long time and made a lot of determination before I confessed to you, but you gave me that kind of answer."
She was filled with remorse whenever she thought about what happened that day.
She shouldn't have run away that day. She should have asked her questions. If she had stayed and asked, things might not have ended so tragically.
"If I cried in front of you that day, or knelt down in front of your door and cried, you would feel sorry for me, right? In that case, you might not be able to control your feelings of love, and I would be able to get the result I wanted."
She closed her eyes briefly, trying to prevent the tears from welling up and falling.
“I received your voice message. You only left me this message after you died. Did you ever think about how much pain I would be in?” She clenched the can in her hand and lay down on Fan Xuanye’s tombstone.
"You'd rather I hate you for the rest of my life."
She sighed and tilted her head back to finish the beer in her hand.
The cold liquid rushed into her stomach, and she frowned in pain. "Okay, I was lying to you earlier. I'm very grateful that you left me a voice message so I could know the truth."
The can in her hand was empty, so she casually tossed it aside, throwing the beer directly onto the ground.
“You know me. Telling me the truth will make me stronger. If you keep refusing to tell me the truth, I may never be able to let go of this in my life.”
Taking a deep breath, she picked up another can of beer and brought it to her lips, intending to drink it all, but her stomach was already aching slightly, silently protesting her reckless behavior.
"Forget it, I won't drink it."
She put the can back on the ground, looked up at the twinkling stars in the sky, and smiled. "Fan Xuan Ye, I don't dream about you much anymore. I used to dream about you almost every day, but as time goes by, you're almost never in my dreams anymore."
"Phew, I haven't dreamt of you for three months, and I haven't thought about you for a month. If it weren't for Brother Mu's wedding today, I probably wouldn't have thought of you at all."
She rubbed her aching temples, sighed, and pushed herself up from the ground. "Fan Xuan Ye, I'm leaving. Once I leave, I may never come to see you again in this lifetime."
She looked at the photo flickering in the dim light. A gust of wind blew, the light shifted, and Fan Xuanye's eyebrows and eyes were now in shadow, making them difficult to see clearly.
She stood there for a while, staring blankly at the photo, until a cold wind suddenly blew by, making her shiver and finally bringing her back to her senses.
She retrieved the light from the tombstone and the phone, then looked at the photo again. Without the light, both the tombstone and the photo were completely dark, and she couldn't see anything.
As I walked back with my things, the cold wind rustled the leaves in my ears, sounding as if someone were gently brushing them aside.
Hearing the commotion, Xiong Ruoyou remained unmoved. She walked to the door, got into her car, glanced at the cemetery one last time, frowned, and finally made up her mind to drive away.
......
"You rejected them, and now you're leaving them with this voice message. What's the point?"
Three years ago, Shu looked at Fan Xuan Ye, who had just finished recording the voice message, with a disdainful expression, "So what if she knows the whole truth?"
“If I don’t tell her the truth, she’ll keep thinking about it. Only by telling her can she let go completely.” Fan Xuanye handed the recording in his hand to Shu. “If I’m not dead, I’ll come back and give it to her myself. If I’m dead, I’ll have to trouble you.”
After saying that, he drove the fighter jet he had borrowed from Shu toward the space battlefield.
