Chapter 99 Leaving

Right after the host finished speaking, three teams chose to withdraw. Among them was Qian Xiaoxiao, a lone wolf. Qian Xiaoxiao had been staying in the shelter for the past few days, and her cough had worsened. Thankfully, the one-month period had finally ended. As soon as the host finished speaking, Qian Xiaoxiao immediately withdrew and waited for the rescue team to take her back to the cruise ship for treatment before returning home.

Soon, the rescue team arrived, along with a medical team. Although Qian Xiaoxiao could still walk on her own, the rescue team placed her on a stretcher. The accompanying doctor examined her and found no major problems, but further examination was needed on the cruise ship. The rescue team then took Qian Xiaoxiao away. Thus, Qian Xiaoxiao left the deserted island. She wouldn't be the last, nor the first, but some would remember her, like Zhao Yulong now.

Zhao Yulong believed that Qian Xiaoxiao's failure to help him led to his elimination and loss of the final billion-yuan prize. To get revenge on Qian Xiaoxiao, he didn't even go home after his elimination, instead seeking information about her. Of course, he was also subjected to online harassment, which fueled his hatred for Qian Xiaoxiao and fueled his desire for revenge.

Finally, he found an opportunity to take revenge on Qian Xiaoxiao by driving his car in front of her university. This resulted in a major tragedy that left three people dead and ten seriously injured. It also ensured his livelihood for the rest of his life. What saddened him most was that Qian Xiaoxiao escaped unharmed and even met a boy in the process.

The other two teams both featured female celebrities. Both of them, coincidentally, chose to withdraw when their one-month contract expired. In fact, given their teams' capabilities, they could have lasted a few more days, but they still chose to leave. According to them, they had already signed contracts and had a scheduled availability. After being selected, they discussed it and decided to take the opportunity to hone their skills and prepare for their next project. They never expected to be able to persevere for so long. Furthermore, considering the impact their withdrawal had on their teammates, they decided to give each of them 500,000 yuan as compensation. This was partly to thank them for their care over the past month and partly as compensation. After this incident, their online reputation improved significantly.

Meanwhile, Wang Lun and his three friends were having lunch together. They had all worked hard that morning, and were a bit tired during lunch, so they didn't talk much and focused on eating, while also thinking about what they would have for dinner. Ideally, they would have noodles, and then some pork. They were getting a little tired of eating fish and meat every day.

After lunch, Wang Lun went to check on the work on the backyard fence. Seeing that the fence was already taller than a person, he decided it was time to start building the chicken coop, since he had almost finished the earlier tasks that morning. So Wang Lun decided to begin building the chicken coop.

Without hesitation, Wang Lun went to fetch the branches used to build the shed. While he was carrying things, Liu Ruoling saw him and went to help. Li Ling and the other woman wanted to help too, but Wang Lun refused, telling them to continue building the wall; Liu Ruoling was enough.

After moving the materials, Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling planted wooden stakes on the wall that Li Ling had previously built. They planted one stake every two meters, a total of four, about five meters long, since the gate couldn't be two meters wide. Then they tied a long horizontal beam across the top, extending one meter over and reaching a height of about two meters. Next, they placed some tree trunks, one end inside the wall they were building, and the other end on the beam, also extending about one meter over. The wall was about 2.5 meters high at one end and only about 2 meters high at the other, allowing the water to flow towards the earthen house, directly into the drainage ditch they had dug earlier. Later, when they had time, they would further improve the drainage ditch, reinforcing the bottom and sides with stones to make it last longer and prevent it from carrying away too much soil. The basic framework of the chicken coop was now complete; all that remained was to build the roof.

The old method was used: the branches were crossed horizontally and vertically, connecting them to the trunk, and then reinforced with vines for added strength. Of course, Liu Ruoxi and Li Ling did all this. These tasks were complex but not strenuous, so they were given the job, while Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling went to build the wall, which required more physical labor.

Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling worked quickly, finishing the wall before sunset. Seeing that Li Ling and the other person still had some roofs to finish, Wang Lun told Liu Ruoling to rest for a while while he started weaving the walls.

Previously, there were some tree trunks standing on the wall, and this part was perfect for use, so Wang Lun left it there, and now it came in handy. Wang Lun wove thin branches onto the tree trunks, interlacing them tightly.

After Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi finished the roof, Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling finished the walls, which were about a meter high. Seeing that there was only this much left, and since the sun hadn't set yet, they told Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi to go back and cook, while Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling would come back after they finished.

Because they were rebuilding the backyard wall, they dug up some of the earthen cliff to use as steps, but these are only temporary and will be modified later.

Li Ling and her companion returned to the pool and washed their hands and faces. Then they discussed what to cook for dinner. After deciding, they began to prepare the meal.

Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling continued weaving the wall. There wasn't much left, but they worked very diligently, prioritizing quality over speed. After all, there were only two pheasants, and losing them due to poor quality would be a huge loss. Fortunately, the entire wall was curved, and the previous wall was straight, creating a fan-shaped chicken coop. The curved side was entirely walled, leaving only the straight side, so the workload wasn't too heavy; otherwise, they probably wouldn't have finished today.

In reality, according to Wang Lun's plan, it was indeed impossible to finish today. After all, they still needed to cover the roof with thatch and plaster it with mud, and the door wasn't finished yet. So, the two pheasants wouldn't be able to move into their new home until tomorrow at the earliest. However, at the current pace of Wang Lun and his team, they estimated that the pheasants should be able to move into their new home by tomorrow.

Wang Lun planned to work overtime tonight to finish the door so it could be installed the next morning. Then, in the morning, Wang Lun would cut some dry grass, and Liu Ruoling would plaster the wall with mud. He estimated that by the afternoon or evening, the two pheasants would be able to move into their new home, hopefully laying a few more eggs to make all the effort worthwhile. As for Li Ling and Liu Ruoxi, they would continue building the wall, but this time they would start working on the front yard.

After finishing their tasks, Wang Lun took Liu Ruoling back inside. Li Ling and the others were still cooking, so Wang Lun started working on the door. Seeing that everyone was busy, Liu Ruoling knew she couldn't just sit idly by, so she went over to help Li Ling and the others with their cooking.
