Chapter 203

Li Ling smiled, then suddenly noticed Liu Ruoling standing motionless beside her and said, "What are you still doing here?" Liu Ruoling was startled, jolted awake from Li Ling's earlier display of bravado, and couldn't help but exclaim, "Ah!" Li Ling frowned and said, "Aren't you going to call your sister over?" Liu Ruoling hesitated, saying, "But what about Wang Lun?" Li Ling waved her hand and said, "He agreed. I said so." Looking at Li Ling's triumphant expression, Liu Ruoling's mind raced for a moment, but she decided to listen to Li Ling. After all, she had heard her sister say that for important matters, she should listen to Wang Lun, and for minor matters, she could listen to Li Ling. This should be considered a minor matter, right?

After Liu Ruoling went to call Liu Ruoxi, Li Ling finally looked satisfied, having managed to intimidate Wang Lun for once. Having been on the island for so long, and having to listen to him in everything, Li Ling had long been unhappy. Of course, it wasn't a breakdown or a cold relationship, but rather the feeling that someone who usually listened to her was suddenly replaced by a different manager, and she had to listen to him instead – it just didn't feel right.

Li Ling watched Liu Ruoling walk away, then noticed Wang Lun still walking ahead. A sense of unease crept in; was Wang Lun angry? Li Ling stamped her foot and quickly caught up with him. She had to appease Wang Lun immediately, otherwise, it wouldn't be good to leave a rift.

Wang Lun was aware of this. While he acknowledged that his actions were flawed, he believed his perspective was sound. From a human perspective, Li Ling hadn't considered many things. However, Li Ling's actions ultimately damaged his authority, especially given the collaboration between the two teams. Therefore, when Li Ling tried to appease him, Wang Lun tolerated it, but he didn't dare make excessive demands, lest he face a beating.

So when the Liu sisters arrived at the raft, they saw Li Ling massaging Wang Lun's shoulders.

When Li Ling saw the two arrive, she was so surprised that she stopped what she was doing. Wang Lun noticed the pause, looked up, and saw that both sisters had arrived. He stood up and said, "Since you're both here, let's set off." He then called Liu Ruoling to help push the raft into the water.

Under the rising sun, the four of them rowed their raft out to sea. When they reached a point where they were some distance from the shore, Wang Lun stopped the raft.

Liu Ruoling had already prepared the casting net, while Li Ling took the bamboo pole from Wang Lun and secured the raft to the sea to prevent it from moving too much. Liu Ruoxi, meanwhile, had her basket suspended in the air, ready to receive the fish she had caught at any time.

In short, Wang Lun would fish, Liu Ruoling would assist him, Li Ling would secure the raft, and Liu Ruoxi would continue to provide logistical support. Although she was still doing logistical work, Liu Ruoxi was still willing to go out to sea with him. With them all together, Liu Ruoxi felt that even if they encountered a shark, she would dare to slap it across the face.

If it were just Liu Ruoxi alone, she probably would have cried from fright long ago. After all, this wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Before, when they were still on the hillside, Liu Ruoxi could hear all sorts of strange noises outside the shelter every night, while Liu Ruoling slept soundly, not even reacting when Liu Ruoxi pushed or hit her.

During this time, Liu Ruoxi didn't dare tell Liu Ruoling anything. After all, they had finally found a place where they could adapt to living, and if they moved to another place because of fear, who knew what else they would encounter? So, they stayed there, living in fear, and spent each day in suspense.

It wasn't until the two of them met Wang Lun and his companion that they felt much better. They moved into the earthen house and had someone to keep them company. Their improved mood led to a change in their physical health. They even dared to confront hyenas face-to-face in the camp last time, and even managed to injure one with a spear.

When Liu Ruoxi thought of hyenas, she suddenly wondered what method could be used to make hyena meat taste better. As her thoughts wandered, Liu Ruoxi became increasingly engrossed in them. Until, a fish hit her, bringing her back to reality.

It turned out that Wang Lun had already pulled in the net, and now Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling were getting the fish out. This particular fish was the one Liu Ruoling had thrown away. Liu Ruoxi quickly went over to help remove the fish.

Liu Ruoling asked, "Sister, what are you thinking about? You seem so engrossed." Liu Ruoxi didn't look up and said, "Hunting sharks?" Wang Lun and the other two didn't hear her clearly, but they still heard the word "shark." Wang Lun quickly put down his hand and picked up the spear next to him. Li Ling, who was originally standing near the edge of the raft, immediately moved to the middle of the raft.

Wang Lun picked up the spear and asked, "Where are the sharks?" Liu Ruoxi was startled by the three's actions. Without turning his head, Wang Lun looked around and continued to ask, "Liu Ruoxi, where are the sharks?" Liu Ruoxi said, "Where are the sharks?" Suddenly remembering what she had just said, she quickly said, "There are no sharks. Ruoling asked me what I was thinking about, and I said I was thinking about fighting sharks." After saying that, she carefully recounted what had just happened. Only then did Wang Lun and the other two feel relieved.

Wang Lun wanted to say something, but after thinking about it, he wondered if it was Liu Ruoxi's fault. Not at all; the three of them had misunderstood. Blame himself? That was impossible too; they had all been thinking about safety. So Wang Lun simply gave a few more words of advice, reminding her to be careful, and then said nothing more.

Aside from helping to remove the fish from the first net, Wang Lun didn't offer any assistance with the subsequent nets. After all, casting nets to catch fish is physically demanding, and Wang Lun was quite exhausted.

The four of them worked at sea for three days. They went fishing together in the morning and went back for lunch. In the afternoon, Wang Lun and two others went fishing, while Liu Ruoxi prepared the catch on the shore.

After three days of busy work, Liu Ruoxi told Wang Lun that they had caught over seven hundred fish. Wang Lun then decided to start packing up and heading back to camp the next day. Seven hundred fish certainly couldn't be transported all at once. So, Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling decided to work together to transport a batch of fish back the next day.

Therefore, Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling should get some rest early tonight so they can set off earlier tomorrow.

The next morning, Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling, each carrying a basket of fish on their backs and leading their goats, set off again on their way back to camp. This time, Wang Lun carried 150 fish, Liu Ruoling carried 100, and each of the goats' baskets held 40 fish. In other words, they could transport half of the fish back to camp this time; the rest they would carry to camp the next day.

Fortunately, some of the fish the two women were carrying were from before, and they had dried somewhat, so they were less moist. Unlike the goats, which were carrying fish from just a couple of days ago that hadn't dried and were very moist, making them much heavier. But even though it was heartbreaking to see the goats so tired, it was much better for them to be a little exhausted than for the humans. Even Li Ling and the other two thought the same way.
