Time flew by, and soon it was time to hand over the shift. Li Ling woke up and got up to prepare to hand over the shift to Wang Lun, but Liu Ruoling was still asleep, and Wang Lun said he was a little hungry. Li Ling was also a little hungry, so the two decided to cook the half-pot of wild vegetables and fish stew, add water and heat it up, and then wake Liu Ruoling up after they ate.
Just as the two were cooking, a fragrant aroma wafted from the pot, and Liu Ruoling woke up, groggily wanting to eat. Liu Ruoxi was also awakened by the smell; after all, she had only eaten a little and was probably hungry. However, Liu Ruoxi didn't get up, pretending to continue sleeping.
The longer it cooked, the more fragrant it became, and the hungrier she felt. Liu Ruoxi couldn't stand it any longer, so she got up and joined them, waiting to eat something.
Soon, the fish soup in the pot boiled. Wang Lun and the other three waited a while longer before serving themselves a late-night snack. Well, let's call it a late-night snack, since it was already two or three in the morning.
The four of them quickly finished the pot of wild vegetable and fish soup. Now that they were no longer hungry, Li Ling and Liu Ruoling kept watch, letting Wang Lun and Liu Ruoxi go to sleep. But Wang Lun and Liu Ruoxi stayed with them, went to the pool to wash the pots and pans, and after a quick wash, went to bed on the kang (heated brick bed).
The night passed uneventfully. Although the goats bleated at night, they did not attract any predators, or if they did, they were either not spotted or simply gave up upon seeing the thick fence.
When Wang Lun woke up in the morning, Li Ling told him that it was the sixtieth day, almost two months. Wang Lun felt that time had flown by and was filled with emotion. After all, none of the four people present had ever imagined that they could survive on a deserted island for so long. Their occasional fantasies were all about encountering a powerful figure who could take them out and feed them for three days straight, allowing them to endure for a little longer.
Little did I know that although there were many things to do every day, I had no worries about food and drink, and my safety was guaranteed. The only problem was that I ate meat every day, and I felt like I was gaining weight.
Wang Lun wasn't too concerned about gaining weight, but Li Ling and the other two women were very worried. So the three of them decided to cook less at each meal so they could eat less and maybe lose weight.
Wang Lun overheard this and said, "Let's not do it like that. From now on, do two hours of exercise every day, and you definitely won't gain weight." Li Ling and Liu Ruoling rolled their eyes at Wang Lun. Liu Ruoxi said, "Last time you said we'd start throwing short spears every day, why don't we start that too?" Wang Lun said, "Can you two keep it up like this?" Liu Ruoxi ignored Li Ling and Liu Ruoling and said, "We can! If we get in good shape, even if we can't hunt, we'll be able to run faster and farther." Hearing Liu Ruoxi's words, Li Ling and Liu Ruoling suddenly felt that they had been a bit lazy. What if they encountered danger in the future? They couldn't rely entirely on Wang Lun. Besides, Wang Lun was only one person, while there were three of them. Who would Wang Lun save?
So the two of them agreed. Wang Lun then devised a plan for the three of them to exercise for two hours each day. To avoid interfering with their work, the exercise time was set after lunch. First, each person practiced throwing short spears ten times – not ten throws, but ten hits on the target. Those who finished first could rest and wait for the next activity.
Next up are 100 squats, 100 push-ups, and 100 sit-ups. Of course, these shouldn't be done all at once, but try to do them all in one go. Anyone who manages to do them all in one go gets a day off as a reward. If all three of you manage to do them all in one go, you get a treat.
After all, the rewards would motivate the three of them even more. Of course, Wang Lun would also participate, and his goal would be twice theirs in all sports.
Of course, the four of them had to go out and cut grass this morning. Now that they had an extra goat, they needed even more grass. They also needed to stockpile more hay, since pheasants, rabbits, and goats would eat plenty during the winter.
So, after the meal, Liu Ruoxi temporarily stopped weaving and went to cut four baskets of grass before starting other things.
At midday, when the sun was at its hottest, Wang Lun and his three companions returned, each carrying a basket of grass on their backs. After setting down their baskets, Wang Lun and Li Ling went inside first, drank some water, and rested for a few minutes before beginning to process the grass. Some would be used to feed the pheasants, rabbits, and goats in the next few days, while the rest would be dried and placed on top of the rabbit pen as winter fodder.
With the combined efforts of Wang Lun, Li Ling, and Liu Ruoling, the grass was quickly processed. The grass for feeding was piled under the eaves for easy daily feeding. The grass that needed to be dried was left in the yard, and then put on top of the rabbit pen after it dried.
Then Wang Lun asked Li Ling to go back and help Liu Ruoxi cook lunch, while Wang Lun took Liu Ruoling to check all the stones that had been laid in the pool. They checked whether the soil between the stones was dry and whether there were any cracks. If there were cracks, they would have to be repaired.
After careful inspection, the two concluded that there were no cracks and the soil was completely dry and hardened. Wang Lun then asked Liu Ruoling for help, and the two of them readjusted the water outlet back into the pool.
Watching the water flow continuously into the pool, Wang Lun felt a sense of satisfaction. After all, the pool was large enough for four people to play in, and even splash around a bit. Of course, the pool also served other purposes.
Liu Ruoling asked Wang Lun, "So, once the pool is full of water this afternoon, we can go swimming and play in it?" Wang Lun shook his head and said, "Not us, it's you guys." Liu Ruoling looked at Wang Lun and said, "Aren't you coming with us?" Wang Lun looked at the reserved wall and said, "If you want to be livestreamed, then you can." Liu Ruoling suddenly realized that she had been so busy with other things that she had forgotten about the livestream.
Suddenly, Liu Ruoling remembered something and whispered in Wang Lun's ear, "You advocated building a pond, you wouldn't happen to just want to see three beautiful women playing in the water in front of you, a wet and seductive scene, would you?" Wang Lun was speechless at Liu Ruoling's words. He slapped her head and said, "What are you thinking? Hurry up and go to the backyard and get some firewood, put it on the fence by the gate." Liu Ruoling laughed and ran off. Wang Lun chuckled behind her, then thought for a moment, "Of the three of them, which one has the best figure? Li Ling? Or Liu Ruoling? Or perhaps Liu Ruoxi?"
Wang Lun and Liu Ruoling each carried three bundles of firewood, blocking the entrance to the wall. Wang Lun drew a circle in the center with wood ash before entering the house with Liu Ruoling.
