The archives contained more than just that; Wendy also found the diaries of those people, which fully recorded the experiment and the whispers in the hearts of those demons, all of which indicated how long this revelry belonging to the demons lasted.
As for the dead monster outside, it was probably a devout believer who, after awakening to the truth, turned into a monster out of resentment...
A sudden chill ran down Wendy's spine, as if something was standing behind her. Wendy remained outwardly calm, but in reality, she was ready for battle. The viewers in the live stream held their breath. They could clearly see a distorted, eerie figure standing behind Wendy, its claws already reaching for her. It seemed that Wendy had discovered this unspeakable secret and was trying to destroy the evidence.
With a blink, Wendy appeared behind the Mysterious One, and End appeared in her hand. Instead of conjuring an arrow of wind element, she struck the Mysterious One directly, passing right through it. Wendy then blinked again, appearing beside Genie.
"Be careful, a monster has appeared," Wendy whispered, conjuring a wind elemental arrow. The monster seemed enraged by Wendy's actions, instantly appearing before him, claws raised, ready to tear Wendy to shreds in the next second.
"What?" When Wendy spoke, Sister Geng was still on high alert, but the next second, the Mysterious One appeared in Sister Geng's sight. Before her mind could react, her body had already gathered ice power, and her longsword slashed at the Mysterious One, slicing off half of his body. The Mysterious One screamed, a sharp sound that echoed throughout the entire enclosed basement. Then the Mysterious One tried to run away, moving very fast. Sister Geng didn't intend to chase, but Wendy shot an arrow, hitting the Mysterious One squarely, and the Mysterious One died instantly.
Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she heard a creaking sound behind her. Wendy's face stiffened, and she clearly realized what it was. She sighed and said, "If it's just some bones, you can handle it, right?" "What?" Sister Geng asked again, but she couldn't utter a word the next second. The scene before her was already shocking enough.
When did I find myself surrounded by bones?
"Well, since they all have physical forms, I won't get involved. Hehe, I'll continue my search. You guys can handle this." With that, Wendy vanished in an instant. Sister Geng felt a lump in her throat, unable to swallow it. She'd never seen anyone so rude, coming and going as they pleased. What did they take this strange world for? A vegetable market? Or a backyard garden?!
Wendy had no idea what Sister Geng was thinking. He was currently searching other rooms, and besides the archives, he also found transaction records. Although many words were completely illegible due to blood and other stains, Wendy still found quite a few interesting records.
All the locked rooms require keys, and Wendy was searching for them. She searched almost the entire basement but couldn't find them. With no other option, Wendy decided to resort to some special methods and force the door open.
With a loud "bang," Wendy walked straight in. This was the lab table. Ignoring the dried-up corpse on the table, Wendy continued searching the room, but unfortunately, she didn't find anything interesting.
In the next room, Wendy again forced the door open, but this seemed to be where the demons rested. Unlike the blood-soaked floor outside, this place was spotless, with a soft, plush carpet, a leather sofa, a glass coffee table, and a kitchenette—a rather cozy little haven. Wendy desperately resisted the temptation of the leather sofa and searched the room, finding quite a few keys, and of course, other things as well.
Holding a large bunch of keys, Wendy opened the other doors, but unfortunately, they were all experimental tables. It seemed that was all there was in the basement. The battle outside seemed to be over. As soon as Wendy opened a door, she saw bones scattered all over the floor and three people panting.
"You've worked hard. There's nothing left down there. Let's go. I guess the others have also encountered something strange." Wendy suddenly appeared next to Sister Geng again, but Sister Geng was already mentally prepared. She just didn't know where these skeletons came from.
"Hmm? You mean these bones? Ah, naturally they're the ones embedded next to the stairs when we came down to the basement. Oh, you probably didn't see them, but this staircase is really big; even the light source in your hand couldn't reach them." Wendy said this calmly. Sister Geng froze, thinking about how those white bones were staring straight at her when she came down, and goosebumps immediately rose on her skin.
"Alright, alright, let's hurry up and go. If the others die too, we'll lose our strength in the siege." After Wendy finished speaking, she walked towards the stairs, with Sister Geng, Feng Aofei, and Shanshan following closely behind.
Leaving the church, the sky outside had turned from black to blood red, and the deep red moon hung high in the sky, looking very ominous. Sister Geng chose the house closest to the church, a two-story villa. Sister Geng remembered that a seven-person team had entered this house before entering the church, and she wondered what their survival rate was.
As soon as she entered the house, the broadsword was already in front of her. Geng Jie instinctively picked up her longsword to defend herself. The sound of the broadsword and longsword hitting each other was enough to give anyone goosebumps. Feng Aofei waved her fan, and the hidden weapon in the fan killed the person holding the broadsword. Only then did Geng Jie see the person's face clearly. He was one of the people who signed up for this S-level mission.
"Could it be..." The worst thought came to mind. Sister Geng took a deep breath, while Wendy checked on the person.
His face was pale, only the whites of his eyes remained. Yes, his soul had been lost, and he had become a walking corpse. It was easy to see that he had been transformed into the supernatural after birth. Do all people corrupted by the supernatural become like this? Superhumans become tools manipulated by the supernatural, while ordinary people become food for the supernatural, or even weak superhumans become food?
A crunching sound came from the kitchen, like sharp teeth tearing something apart. Sister Geng's eyes turned cold, and she rushed over with her long sword. However, in a flash, all that was left in front of her was a mangled corpse. She could barely make out that this was one of the members of this operation. Half of the head had been bitten off, and only the upper half of the body remained. The lower half had disappeared.
"Something flashed by just now, I didn't see it clearly, damn it." Sister Geng was a little annoyed, but Wendy gathered an arrow and shot it in one direction, and from that direction came screams.
