"Hahaha, young lady, you're joking. This is my cooking skill, and I can't pass it on to outsiders. But if you really want to learn, I do have a recipe for a dessert that my wife loved when she was young. If you don't mind, I can teach you." The uncle laughed heartily, and Lei Yingdian nodded slightly. She wanted to prove here that her cooking skills weren't so bad.
After a moment, the uncle stared blankly at the messy stove, then at Lei Yingdian who looked completely innocent, and uttered, "What a mess."
Lei looked at the uncle with embarrassment. She really didn't know why, even with his guidance, she could still make terrible desserts. Seeing Feng Aofei and Shanshan's dumbfounded expressions, she knew that things might not end well today.
"I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you." Lei Yingdian stood there uneasily, and that was all she could say. She fumbled around, but in the end, she really didn't know how to compensate the uncle. She closed her eyes, and a lightning ball appeared in Lei Yingdian's hand. A moment later, the lightning ball turned into a protective charm. Lei Yingdian handed it to the uncle and said, "This protective charm can help you withstand a mysterious and fatal blow. Take it."
The uncle repeatedly refused, but Lei Yingdian forcefully stuffed him into his arms and then ran away. Watching Lei Yingdian's retreating figure, which resembled a hasty escape, the uncle didn't know what to say.
Wendy was completely drunk in the tavern, and the owner was quite tactful enough not to let anyone disturb him. After all, almost every tavern owner remembered the bard's appearance, and it was considered a blessing for the owner to have a bard patronize him. So Wendy's drinking was discounted, and as long as he didn't run out of psionic energy, Wendy could drink here for the rest of his life without the owner saying anything.
Lei Yingdian suddenly appeared next to Wendy, startling her. She looked up and saw Lei Yingdian sitting to the side, his brow slightly furrowed, seemingly disliking the smell of alcohol, but saying nothing and simply sitting there. "If you really don't like it, you can move away a bit, hehe, or, how about having a drink with me?" Wendy raised her glass to Lei Yingdian.
Looking at Wendy, Ray noticed her hazy, drunken eyes and flushed cheeks, yet a clear glint remained deep within them. It was hard to imagine two such contrasting states appearing in one pair of eyes, but Wendy had managed it. Wasn't that a testament to her status as a drunkard? Perhaps this was a unique skill possessed only by a drunken poet.
Then, Lei Yingdong's hands naturally pinched Wendy's cheeks. Wendy didn't push him away; it wasn't the first time her cheeks had been pinched. Surprisingly, it felt quite nice. Wendy squinted her eyes, looking just like a Shiba Inu. "You look like one of those silly supporting characters in a novel," Lei Yingdong said. "What weird novel? I'm the protagonist! I'm the protagonist!" Wendy retorted, annoyed, even though she was being pinched.
Ray released Wendy's face, his expression slowly becoming serious. Wendy, too, changed from her drunken state and became very serious.
In the dual gods' perception, something seemed to be rapidly approaching Tengfei City, and its power was considerable...
But then she heard a deafening roar outside, and heard crowds scattering and screams echoing through the streets. Wendy realized something was really wrong and went out onto the street with Ray.
What kind of monster was that? Wendy stared in disbelief. It was taller than the entire city of Soaring, with blood-red eyes and a gaping maw. Its spiked hands were indiscriminately attacking everyone. Anyone caught by the monster would either die instantly on its spikes or be thrown into its mouth. Panic gripped the city.
"Where is that all-powerful bard? Come and save us!"
"Waaah, this is so scary, I want to go home!"
"Mommy, Mommy, where are you?"
"Bard, help!"
Countless people prayed for the appearance of that bard, but he never came.
“The bards have abandoned us, and humanity has no hope.”
"Damn it, we shouldn't have trusted him!"
Hopefully, the disappointment that followed was just human cursing and swearing. Ray glanced at Wendy, whose expression remained calm, as if these words were nothing but nonsense to him, which was indeed the case.
"What's the point of relying on the bard? His mission is complete! He helped humanity kill the leader. He's just a monster. Are you all scared? Look at those superhumans around you who are still working hard. They are heroes too! If all humans are like this, then we might as well just exterminate them!" Feng Aofei's voice suddenly rang in everyone's ears, and Wendy chuckled.
Having spent so much time by her side, even Feng Aofei had learned a little bit of the art of deceiving people.
What's this? Is it a case of "one is influenced by one's company"? Interesting.
Feng Aofei's words seemed to awaken some ordinary people, who stopped shouting and scrambled away, leaving the battlefield to the superhumans.
In an instant, various supernatural powers flew wildly, dazzling colors exploding on the monster's body. The monster roared in pain, then puffed out its cheeks, vomiting everywhere. "Should we go for it?" Wendy looked at Ray Movie, who shook his head: "One slash." "Hey, let's go to a higher place first. It's not very impressive from here." Wendy disappeared after saying that, and the next second he appeared on the highest point of Tengfei City, on the roof of the City Lord's Mansion.
Brushing off the dust, Wendy plopped down. Lei Yingdian followed closely behind, appearing beside her. Looking at the ability users who were slowly corroded by the vomit, Lei Yingdian felt a complex mix of emotions. However, this complex feeling only lasted for a second. Lei Yingdian even saw the uncle wearing his amulet, but with the amulet's help, the uncle was currently unharmed.
The next moment, Lei Yingdian appeared in front of the monster, holding a naginata in his hand and stepping on the void. He slowly walked towards the monster. With each step forward, the ring behind Lei Yingdian would light up a little more until it was full. Lei Yingdian raised the naginata high and slashed down.
Time stood still at that moment. Everyone stared in disbelief at the sky. The monster's figure paused, and thunder roared, proclaiming the return of their queen. The powerful pressure made everyone's breath catch for a moment, and the heavens and earth changed color. Then, the monster was cleanly split in two and fell outside Tengfei City.
Yes, outside, the monster could kill people even before it entered Tengfei City, which shows how tall it was.
Lei Yingdian turned around, looked down, and saw the middle-aged man. Caught off guard, the man's eyes met Lei Yingdian's. Startled, he quickly left.
Afterwards, Ray returned to Wendy's side, who hummed a little tune and muttered to herself, "Hey, more new poems to write. Mora, wine, neither can escape, hehe~"
(I think I'm famous, but then again, I'm not?)
