Chapter 9: The Call, the Hilichurl Squad?

Wendy is back, but she looks a bit lost and dejected. She won't even drink the dandelion wine anymore. She just lies down in her room and falls asleep, looking like her girlfriend has been stolen away by a jerk.

Amidst the chaotic language of the comments, Diluc pieced together the key information and was just thinking about how to comfort Venti when Venti appeared on his own, seemingly having already calmed down, with that chuckle on his face again.

"Do you want me to talk to one of your people? If not, I'll have to talk to my friends." Wendy was holding something that looked like a cell phone, with a note saying that the call would last five minutes and there was no limit to the number of people.

The barrage of comments all pointed to one name: a highly respected figure from China. Without hesitation, Wendy dialed the number.

"Hello, Grandpa Qi," Wendy said. Grandpa Qi hummed in response and briefly discussed the future development of the forbidden area with Wendy. The gist of his message was that no matter what, protecting one's own safety was the most important thing. Resources should be taken if possible, the more the better, and those that cannot be taken should not be forced. Although the Dragon Kingdom is not your country, it is your strongest support.

"Thank you." Wendy looked at the remaining two and a half minutes, hung up the call with Grandpa Qi, took a deep breath, suppressed her inner panic, and said into the communicator: "Dial Teyvat, Morax Zhongli."

In Liyue Harbor, Teyvat, Zhongli was listening to Tian Tiezui tell stories as usual when a voice suddenly sounded in his mind: "Venti, a player from the Dragon Kingdom in the National Fortune Game, requests to speak with you. Do you accept?" Zhongli narrowed his eyes slightly, stood up, and cast a spell to block the sound when no one was around.

"Hey, Grandpa?" Wendy said. Zhongli frowned. "What happened? The winds were unstable recently, and Mondstadt was in chaos." "Grandpa, I'll get to the point now. I'm caught up in something called the Game of Fate, which is probably even more powerful than the laws of nature. Please help me with the situation in Mondstadt. I might be able to go back, or I might not. The myriad worlds are divided into civilizations of various levels, and Teyvat can't escape that either. We just hope that Teyvat's level can be higher so that everyone can cope with the unknown dangers. Please, Grandpa." As soon as Wendy finished speaking, the communication was cut off.

Zhongli frowned slightly. Unknown civilization, potential danger, the vanished wind god, strange national fortune game—these sentences together didn't sound good... Zhongli knew that his old friend might seem unserious, but when it came to serious matters, he was absolutely the most responsible one. So it was impossible for him to make up lies to deceive him while he went off to slack off.

In addition, the recent unstable winds, the disappearance of Diluc in Mondstadt, and the apparent reach of the Abyss beyond Teyvat have caused widespread anxiety.

"I think my retirement is a bit too early?" Having spent so much time with travelers, Zhongli had picked up some strange and unusual words. Looking at the azure sky of Liyue Harbor, Zhongli sighed deeply. Was this some kind of new contract?

"Such a momentous event, there's no reason why Thor wouldn't know about it..." Zhongli thought to himself, and strode toward the Hall of Rebirth, intending to report to Hu Tao first.

"It's over." Wendy breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed the dandelion wine, and started chugging it down. But no matter how much dandelion wine she drank, her friend's radiant smile wouldn't leave her mind... "Want to try some?" Diluc handed Wendy a newly mixed drink. Wendy looked up, her eyes meeting Diluc's expressionless face. She didn't speak, took the glass, and drank it. It was refreshing and smooth, with a clean, cloud-like quality, like a century-old vintage, yet like a gentle breeze that left no trace. A myriad of flavors swirled in her mouth, just like Wendy's complex emotions.

"Thank you," Wendy said softly. Diluc hummed in response and went about his own business.

For a moment, there was silence, except for the Laser Hilichurl fiddling with its bow and arrow.

"Oh, I forgot, there's still a C-rank treasure chest." Wendy then remembered that he had a treasure chest that he hadn't opened yet. He pulled out a chest from behind him. It was unremarkable, and no one would even think that it was a treasure chest, because it was really ordinary and no different from the ordinary wooden boxes sold on the street.

"You drive?"

"You open it, I don't open it, and a Thunderbolt Hilichurl appears."

"Why don't we just let him drive?"

"Can."

"ya?"

Then, two people reached into the box with one of the Laser Hilichurl's hands and opened it.

"Congratulations to the Dragon Kingdom's summoned creature, Thunderbolt Hilichurl, for opening a C-rank treasure chest and obtaining 800 National Fortune Coins, a year of spiritual energy revival, and tens of thousands of acres of iron ore!" The announcement rang out, and the people of the Dragon Kingdom cheered, while other countries were envious and jealous.

"When will our country's players be able to go to the secret realm?! They're always looking for treasure chests, and what are they even finding?!"

"Quickly, Spider-Man, get to the secret realm!"

"Jack! Jack, you're going too! With your ruthless personality, you'll definitely be fine!"

"Miyamoto-san, the future of Japan rests on your shoulders!"

...

"Should we do a gacha pull or exchange for something?" Venti asked Diluc, looking at the National Fortune Coins he already had enough for ten pulls. Diluc replied, "You can pull, but I won't." Venti took a swig of his drink and clicked on the ten-pull option.

The scene shifts, and a purple meteor falls amidst blue and green meteors, revealing a weapon and nine summon cards in front of Venti.

A Water Hilichurl Shaman, five regular Hilichurls, one regular Hilichurl Archer, a Water Abyss Mage, a summon card for a large Ice Slime, and a Sacrificial Sword.

"Is this forming a Hilichurl team?" Venti's lips twitched. He used a summoning card in front of the Dragon Kingdom's gates, and a Shaman, a Hilichurl, an Abyss Mage, and a Slime all appeared. Among them, only the Abyss Mage was someone Venti could talk to, so this Abyss Mage was given the task of teaching the Hilichurl. If it wasn't taught well, the consequence might be that the Abyss Mage's beautiful feathers would be plucked off!

The Abyss Mage only felt that the person in front of him was a demon, and promised to train the Hilichurls well so as not to disappoint Wendy.

"But this way, I can slack off even better, right?" On second thought, with the Hilichurl squad, wouldn't I be able to slack off even better? Finding treasure chests and fighting monsters, those Hilichurls can do all that, I just need to stay in the border region drinking and sleeping.

"Oh no! The US just held a lottery and summoned a Transformer!"

"What? Autobots? These things really exist?"

"What can't that handsome guy do? This Autobot looks terrifying!"

"I went to see for myself, and it's true. Each punch is like a tree that would take six people to encircle."

"Hahaha, Chinese contestants, you're doomed! We have Autobots, you're just a bunch of rotten bastards!"

"Don't be too smug, you'll all be finished sooner or later!"
