Chapter 57

Chapter 57

I heard someone in the supermarket say that the sea in winter is peaceful and heavy, especially on a gloomy day like this, when the cold air tears through the air and blows over. It seems like a layer of fog rises on the sea, and the horizon is swallowed by the thick fog. The blurred sea view seems to be covered with thick cloth.

That is an enlarged version of Li Ying'an's gray eyes.

This is what I suddenly thought of. I suddenly don’t want to swing anymore. I want to build up my courage and see the sea that I have never seen. Maybe I can even meet a few seagulls.

I will not catch any seagull. I will bribe it with fried dough sticks, tell it my wish, let it carry my dream in its mouth, fly to a farther sea, and help my dream come true.

Well, since I have had the dream in advance, the next step is to fall asleep to the sound of rain.

Li Ying'an and I smiled at each other after coming out of the dream. This was our shared thought.

When I woke up again, the orange sunset filled the sky. The temperature was no higher than at noon, and I needed a thin blanket to keep warm.

To save space on the bed and give Li Ying'an enough room to rest, I'd always sleep in Li Youzhi's form when we shared the bed. When I opened my eyes, I found myself curled up in a blanket that smelled like Li Ying'an. No wonder I felt warm, like I was transported back to summer.

Li Ying'an treated this sleep as a lunch break. His lunch break was always less than an hour. When I woke up, he had already tidied up every corner of the house, and the table was filled with the aroma of food.

I turned back into Li Feng and ran downstairs. When I passed by the window, I looked out and saw that the rain had stopped.

"Don't you want to go on the swing?" Li Ying'an put his chopsticks on my bowl. "Let's go out for a walk tonight."

My eyes were like lit candles, illuminating my entire face. My excitement was evident on my face, and the corners of my eyebrows, eyes, and even the hairs on my body were raised uncontrollably.

Unfortunately, this statement became obsolete soon.

While Li Ying'an and I were having dinner, a phone call broke the warmth.

It was a call from the police station. They asked Li Ying'an to come over tonight. It was said that the suspect had been taken into custody.

This matter involved a wide range of issues and could not be taken lightly. Li Ying'an left in a hurry without even finishing the rice in his bowl.

When he left, the house was empty. I followed his example and cleaned up the dishes. I sat alone in front of the window, watching the sunset being swallowed by the darkness, and the orange sky turned dark again.

I took such a long and good nap at noon that I didn't want to take another nap. But I was so energetic that I couldn't sit for long. The thoughts of going out and waiting were fighting in my mind. As my thoughts came and went, I stood up, took out another key from the cabinet, and decided to go out for a walk alone.

Although I said I was going out for a walk, my heart was still thinking about the swing from last time. However, I was very disappointed. The water stains on the swing were reflected by the lights on the roadside. If I sat down on it, my pants would get wet in large parts. If passers-by saw me, they might even laugh at me for peeing my pants.

The thought of such an embarrassing thing made me feel dizzy. My heart said no, so without thinking too much, I turned around and looked for another way.

This time, I was walking around aimlessly.

Although the evening clouds are beautiful, the night after the rain is still gloomy. Looking up, there is not a single star to be seen. Only dark clouds press the sky very low, and the world is swallowed by darkness.

White flickering lights appeared on the puddles. When I stepped on them, it was like shattering a mirror. On the street where few people passed by, the only sound was the sound of my feet stepping on the water. The further I walked, the quieter the surroundings became and the empty the road became. It was as if I had become a wandering soul, and only my own voice was echoing nearby.

The shadows began to gradually disappear around me, and I seemed to be away from the bustling city center and came to the most remote place in the world.

The soil smelled fresh after the rain, and the air was filled with the rich scent of grass.

It was a deep night and I had no idea where I was. I could vaguely make out a wall in front of me with a lot of weeds growing at the base. The dim lights in the distance cast mottled shadows of trees onto the wall, and when the wind blew, it looked a little eerie and strange.

I walked around the wall for a while. In this very quiet environment, the rustling sound of my feet was particularly obvious, mixed with the sticky sound of stepping on water, and the roosting night birds would take advantage of this to wail.

In the dark night, this sound was extremely terrifying. I always felt that something was following me, so I turned back into a clever cat.

I looked around and jumped up, holding onto the thick old tree trunk next to me. In a few seconds, I climbed up the branch, then went to the branch closest to the wall and used its strength to jump onto the wall.

No wonder it’s so gloomy here, there’s a cemetery opposite.

There are only a few tombstones here, but there are quite a few graves. This cemetery exudes a sense of decay.

The cemetery was so desolate after the rain. The rain seemed to wash out the ghosts buried in the ground. It was so quiet that I could hear the sounds.

The sounds I definitely heard were certainly not ghostly.

I steadied my breathing and determined the source of the sound.

It's nearby, or to be more precise, in this cemetery.

There was someone in the cemetery.

It is normal to have people in the cemetery. It can be said that it is not surprising to see ghosts. It is not worth making a fuss about their appearance during this period of time. Some beggars who have no place to stay will come to the cemetery and other enclosed places to sleep, which can block the wind and is relatively quiet. They can even catch grave diggers.

When I thought of tomb robbers, I suddenly became interested in observing them. I wanted to see whether the people here were homeless beggars or bold tomb robbers after this rainy day.

There were dense branches against the wall of the tomb. I hid in the shadows and walked for a while standing on the top of the wall. I didn't see any trace of people as far as I could see, but the sound was getting closer and closer.

The voice was as thin as a mosquito, and the speaker seemed very cautious. Even as a cat, I could hardly make out what he was saying if I didn't listen carefully. I had no choice but to get closer and risk being discovered, so I jumped onto a tree.

There are quite a lot of trees in the cemetery. Not only is there a circle of cypress trees surrounding the wall, but there are also many young saplings growing inside the undisturbed area. The tallest one looks to be as tall as two Li Ying'ans.

I decisively jumped to the tallest tree in the garden. It was a good choice because I could see the person who was talking from this angle.

I didn't expect that there were two people standing in the cemetery.

The shadows of the trees swayed, the wind whistled softly. Though the two were completely immersed in the darkness, they still couldn't escape my sharp eyes. Their appearance, stature, and the sound of their conversation were as obvious to me as a leaf floating on a quiet river, so obvious that I could almost tell who they were the moment I saw them.

Sui Yusheng and Wen Liangxi, why are they here?

Bad thoughts flooded into my heart and rushed into my mind. A bleak wind blew over my body, and I shivered suddenly. I vaguely felt that the trees under my feet were shaking slightly with me.

Wen Liangxi was perched at the corner of the wall. I didn't hear him speak, nor did I see him make any resistance. He stood upright, like a lean pine tree, leaning against the wall, his posture even a little slouched. Meanwhile, Sui Yusheng, standing opposite Wen Liangxi, kept talking nonstop. His words were fast and anxious, some of them sounding downright humble. But this encircling posture still gave me an uneasy feeling that he was coercing Wen Liangxi.

In a place like this, would Sui Yusheng kill people to silence them?

"If it will give you peace of mind, you can kill me."

At the end of the conversation, Sui Yusheng said this, which left me completely confused and lost, as if I was lost in a fog.

How can you hand over a knife to someone else to punish your murderer?

In the darkness, someone let out a short, scornful laugh. Wen Liangxi rarely moved under my nose. "Do you think I dare not kill you?"

Something in my heart was breaking.

Wen Liangxi put away his casual posture, and separated his back from the embrace of the wall. He put his arm ambiguously on Sui Yusheng's shoulder, pushed Sui Yusheng forward a few steps, then turned around slowly on the spot, adjusted his position with Sui Yusheng, and finally pressed the person against the wall forcibly, wishing to embed himself deeply into it.

He leaned forward and said word by word, "Please don't recall the past with me again, okay? I'll think you're beating around the bush and calling me stupid. Although, in my eyes, you're not that smart either."

He paused, touched Sui Yusheng's face with his hand, and then moved it up to his eyebrows. His voice was so flat that not a single tremor could be heard. "I thought a lot before asking you to come here. The more I think about it, the more I feel that you really deserve to die."

No matter how he heard this, he felt hatred, but Sui Yusheng didn't show any fear. He even tilted his head affectionately, put his face in Wen Liangxi's palm, and reached out to hold the other's slender white wrist: "I ruined your business, and I think I really deserve to die. I said, you can kill me without mercy. Since I am willing to work with you, my life is yours. Since I like you, it is yours."

Which sentence touched Wen Liangxi's bottom line? He suddenly shook off Sui Yusheng's hand and said coldly: "You are so disgusting. Can't you see that I hate your contact? Don't you think I have a deep aversion to homosexuality? Love is originally a false friendship. Isn't it better to like yourself more?"

"But I just like you. I can't help but like you, understand?"

Sui Yusheng spoke painfully. He stretched out his hand to grab something from the person in front of him, but Wen Liangxi dodged it without a trace. This evasion made him drop his hand in disappointment. "I'm a selfish and indifferent person. I don't even bother to look at others, but you hold a different position in my heart. You are higher than anyone else. I don't know when I started to want to see you and even touch you. Even though I know you are a dark person and you ignore me, I am willing to accept it. Even if you kill me today, I am willing to do so."

"Bitch." Wen Liangxi was not moved. He treated this feeling as air and sneered at Sui Yusheng's words.

Sui Yusheng didn't care much: "Whatever you say."

His mood was not what Wen Liangxi wanted to see. Wen Liangxi was unwilling to accept this and continued to provoke him: "You are so cheap, much cheaper than the puppy at home. I just beckon you and you come running with your tail wagging, so obedient. Do you know what expression I like to see on your face the most? Sulking. You never tell me when you are angry, you only remind me indirectly that you are wronged, but what does it have to do with me? I just need to continue to irritate you and watch you perform. Every time I deliberately approach Li Feng, I can see your grievances, and I am very happy. I like to see you angry."

...approach me?

I didn't expect that Wen Liangxi would approach me with such an attitude every time Sui Yusheng was present, and my heart grew colder.

Sui Yusheng's expression gradually turned cold, and the smile on his lips disappeared: "...Really? I didn't even realize you were observing me at that time. I was like an abandoned dog."

Wen Liangxi's smile became more exaggerated: "Are you angry?"

Sui Yusheng let out a snort from his nose, like a deflated balloon. He slowly lowered his head, and no one could see what emotions were brewing in him at this moment.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling wronged again——"
