Chapter 5 Cohen Prairie

As the sun sets, the red sun turns the sunset glow in the sky and the Cohen grassland below red.

Looking down from the sky, at the northern end of Cohen Prairie, there is a forest that will be shrouded in darkness.

The entire forest is surrounded by mountains. It is silent and eerie. From time to time, the roars of unknown wild beasts can be heard from it. Even flying birds are hard to see over the forest.

Only the side bordering the grassland has a place to walk because there are no mountains. However, because the forest is almost full of ferocious beasts, poisonous insects and snakes, and because of some terrible rumors and stories from nowhere, basically no one dares to approach this forest. Over time, this forest has become one of the forbidden areas of the Longwa continent, and is called the Bone Burial Forest by the people of the Longwa continent.

Just as the sun was about to set and the Bone Forest was about to be completely shrouded in darkness, something happened in the forest, startling a large group of birds, which circled over the forest, and then fell back into the forest as time passed. The Bone Forest fell into silence again, as if nothing had happened just now.

I don't know how long it was, but with a wailing sound, a young man walked out from the bushes at the edge of the forest, holding a bloodstained steel sword and carrying a long sword on his back. The young man was wearing a coat that was somewhat ill-fitting, and through the small gaps in the coat, one could vaguely see his well-made leather armor.

He looks a bit disheveled on the outside, but the blood-stained steel sword in his hand adds a unique charm to his image.

"I finally got out. I would have gone crazy if I stayed in there any longer. This is a forest full of so many wild beasts and poisonous creatures. It's not a place for humans to stay!

I will never go into the forest again."

The person who walked out of the forest was the witcher Hu Yong, who had been wandering in the Bone Forest for more than half a month.

At this moment, Hu Yong looked haggard and withered, his brown eyes had dark circles and bloodshot.

As soon as I walked out of the forest, I couldn't wait to get away from the forest and walked quickly towards the loess road not far away on the plain.

To understand why a witcher would become so exhausted and wander around in the Bone Forest for more than half a month, we have to start from the time when Hu Yonggang left the ruins of a village whose name he didn't know.

After walking eastward for about two or three hours after setting out, they saw a forest not far away. Hu Yong recalled again and again that the forest did not look very big from the outside at that time, and the trees seemed relatively short.

Then he thought it was just a small forest. In other directions, he saw towering mountains. In this case, Hu Yong, as a normal person, would definitely cross the forest. At least there would be food and water in the forest to replenish energy. If he went to the other side of the mountain, it would probably be desolate.

In this way, Hu Yong dived into the forest. He didn't feel anything at first, but after walking for two days and spending a night on the tree, Hu Yong felt something was wrong. It seemed that there was something hidden around him.

When I climbed to the treetops and looked around, I was stunned. At a glance, there was endless forest all around, and even mountains appeared at the end of my sight.

As the old saying goes, don't enter the forest.

Regardless of whether this sentence describes the current situation, Hu Yong now thinks that this is the only word that can describe this predicament.

This gave Hu Yong a headache. It would probably take several days to go back, and he didn't know where to go after leaving the forest.

He had no choice but to continue moving eastward, but the further he went, the more he felt something was wrong. Starting from the second day, every time he walked, he could feel the prying eyes in the surrounding grass. With Hu Yong's current perception, he could easily find the location of the peeper, but without knowing the surroundings clearly, he did not act rashly, but secretly strengthened his vigilance.

By the fifth day, the hidden peepers could no longer bear it and gradually tried to launch attacks. In one day, two poisonous snakes, four wolves and a leopard died under Hu Yong's sword.

In order to have a barbecue dinner in the evening, the few sigil skill points that I had originally planned to save were added to the Inig sigil. With the current sigil power, it can only cast a thumb-sized flame, which is basically useless against the enemy, but it is more than enough to use for lighting fires in daily life.

After eating and drinking his fill, Hu Yong had a good sleep. After waking up, he continued on his journey, not knowing that the nightmare had just begun.

The further they advanced, the more wild beasts they encountered. Even if they killed several of the attacking beasts, there were still some that were not afraid of death and rushed forward. Later on, there were even attacks from wild beasts or poisonous insects and snakes every once in a while.

If the witcher had not undergone the Trial of Green Grass and had physical functions, mental and perception abilities far superior to those of ordinary people, he would have been exhausted and become a delicious meal for some wild beast.

The following days were spent fighting against the attacking wild beasts. Even when I was resting on a tree late at night, I would be awakened by the attacks. There were several times when I would have been poisoned by the venomous insects when I was mentally exhausted if I had not experienced the Green Grass Trial and had a very high resistance to venom.

Even though he had a physique far superior to that of an ordinary person, he felt physically and mentally exhausted after being attacked for half a month without even enough rest time.

So when we walked out of the forest and saw the plain, it was like being thirsty in the desert for several days and suddenly seeing an oasis.

Moving away from the Bone Burial Forest at a very fast speed.

At the fork in the road on the plain, Hu Yong stood in front of the arrow signpost at the intersection.

The arrow pointing to the left said Kovag, and the arrow pointing to the right said Chinosi. There was a piece of parchment pasted in the middle of the sign, and the writing was a little blurred.

Like all systems, the Witcher system also comes with the language and writing of this world, but it is the voice and writing of the Land of Advent.

I could vaguely make out the blurry text, which roughly said that Kovagr... a blood-sucking monster... was killing civilians... Lord Mal... Cora... and offered a reward of one thousand Farrons.

After reading the general information that could be clearly seen on the parchment, the system that had been silent for more than half a month suddenly sounded. Hu Yong opened the system and as soon as he clicked on it, the task interface popped up with a flash.

[The Blood-sucking Monster of Kovagr] The young witcher walked out of the Bone Forest and came to the Korn Grassland, and finally found the location of the human town. However, he learned that an unknown blood-sucking monster had appeared in the town at the end of the road on the left, and many humans had been killed in the town. As a witcher with a mission, how could he sit idly by.

Mission objective: Investigate the blood-sucking monster hiding in Kovagr and then eliminate it.

Rewards: Sword Oil - Beast Oil (permanent privilege), Apple Juice × 3, Attribute Points × 2, Alchemy Skill Points × 1.

(ps: This is the host's first mission as a witcher, and also the first battle to establish his reputation as a witcher in this world.

) "It seems that this system won't let me rest for even a moment. A blood-sucking monster? That's interesting. I have to go to the town to rest anyway, so I might as well take a look."

Hu Yong tore off the parchment and put it in his arms, then strode to the left.

The night had already fallen behind him, and the last rays of the setting sun fell on Hu Yong, gradually lengthening his reflection...
