Chapter Three: The Waste System

Longyue remained vigilant. Despite her casual stance, her hands, concealed beneath her wide sleeves, were taut, ready to react swiftly to any potential danger.

The original owner's malice was undisguised; her face practically screamed "die!" There was nothing Longyue could do about it.

It's unreasonable to ask her to give up her body when she arrived, as her body was already cold.

The system's attack is simple: mental power. And it can only use mental power. As a data mass without a physical body, its mental power is aimed at the host's soul. As long as the host is disobedient, it can devour the host's soul at any time as its own reserve energy.

Spiritual energy enveloped Longyue from all directions, attempting to form a cage to trap her soul within. Then, the spiritual energy transformed into countless sharp blades, splitting Longyue's soul into countless fragments.

This method is actually very effective and can produce significant results for anyone, provided that the person is a person in this world.

However, since Longyue was not a native of this world, the system and the original owner's plan had to fall through.

Longyue saw countless threads flying towards her, but before they could get close, a crimson-orange flame appeared out of thin air in front of the white threads and rushed towards them.

"ah!"

"Damn it!"

The system's emotionless, mechanical voice then rang out, its tone tinged with exasperation.

In an instant, the spiritual energy vanished without a trace, and the crimson-orange fire, without the threads of spiritual energy, automatically went out.

The original owner's heart skipped a beat. Because she had been punished by the system, she knew exactly what abilities the system possessed. She thought that having the system take action would easily solve the problem of this wandering ghost that had appeared out of nowhere, but what happened?!

Things turned out completely unexpectedly!

The original owner looked at Longyue in horror. How could this woman be so strong? They were all souls, so why was she so powerful?

"Sorry, the system you mentioned doesn't seem to be able to handle me!" Longyue shrugged, looking quite helpless.

The original owner was furious when she saw this, but the current situation didn't seem to be very friendly to her!

"You, don't come any closer. Just tell me what you want!" The original owner hugged himself tightly, and as Longyue took a step forward, the original owner took a step back.

It's almost as if it's about to be written with words like "weak, pitiful, and helpless."

Longyue stopped in her tracks. "What do I want? Shouldn't I be asking you that? Weren't you going to kill me? Why are you chickening out now?"

"No, how could I possibly kill you? I'm so grateful to you. It was all a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!" The original owner nodded sincerely after saying that.

"So you mean you want to coexist with me?" Longyue asked slowly, her eyes flashing.

A look of embarrassment flashed across the original owner's face as she cursed the system in her heart. It was all that useless system's fault; not only did it fail to resolve the issue, it also left her with a huge problem.

After witnessing what had just happened, the original owner knew without a doubt that she was no match for him. However, she was unwilling to share a body with two souls. She was a person with great potential, how could she stay in the same body as a wandering ghost?

But she couldn't beat him!

"Yes, yes, that's fine!" The original owner nodded impatiently, agreeing for now and thinking that once she gradually merged with the body, she might be able to regain control of it.

Longyue glanced coldly at the original owner of the body. She knew without even thinking what the original owner was thinking.

"Unfortunately, I'm not willing!"

The original owner stared intently at Longyue. She hadn't expected the other party to say that. She had already compromised so much, so why did the other party disagree?

"Why are you wondering? Because you want to kill me, and I can't possibly leave such a threat around."

As soon as she finished speaking, a crimson-orange flame immediately ignited in Longyue's palm—a flame that had just burned through the system's spiritual energy.

"This is Void Flame, a product that doesn't belong to this world!" Longyue didn't mind revealing a little about it to the original owner. As for whether the original owner could understand it, that was no longer Longyue's concern.

And this Void Flame is the only thing she brought into this world.

The original owner's eyes widened. "You, you, you're not from this world?"

"Of course not. I come from the Continent of Gods and Demons. In the terms of this world, I am a transmigrator." Longyue raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at the original owner's incredulous expression.

"Don't worry, Void Flame will be very gentle."

"No, you can't kill me! Do you know how heavy the burden on my shoulders is? Without me, the world will be destroyed!" The original owner screamed in terror, constantly moving away from Longyue.

The place is only so big, and apart from the hidden system, only the original owner and Longyue remain.

After hearing the original owner's words, Longyue paused for a moment. Seeing that it was useful, the original owner was secretly pleased and continued.

"Really, everything I'm saying is true. The fact that I was able to be reborn proves how important I am to this world. If you kill me, then this world will have problems because of my disappearance. Now you know how important I am, right?"

"Do you know how many people will be affected in the future? If the world is in trouble because you hurt me, then you will bear an inescapable responsibility. Can you bear it?"

Seeing that Longyue didn't move, the original owner became bolder and spoke louder and louder, thinking that what she was saying made a lot of sense, that's how it is, that's right!

In reality, the original owner was practically invisible before his death. Even if he came from the future, how much could he possibly know? And even less of it would be useful!

Longyue shook her head, thinking she was going to hear some useful information.

The Void Flame was casually tossed onto the original owner's body.

"No, no, I can't die! You wicked woman, you'll get your comeuppance! The world will be destroyed because of you! You sinner for all time..."

Seeing that Longyue remained unmoved, the original owner bared his teeth and claws, trying to drag Longyue down with him, all the while cursing under his breath.

"System, save me! System, save me! I'm willing to sell my soul to you, as long as you let me live! System, help me!"

The original owner was terrified; she was afraid that if she really died, she would lose everything.

"Beep, system is unbinding! 5%...10%...100%!" The mechanical voice only fueled the original owner's utter despair.

As the original owner's soul disappeared, Longyue's consciousness returned to her body. She subconsciously raised the quantum computer on her wrist and glanced at it; only five minutes had passed.

"Ding, system activation in progress..."

"Beep, host scanning in progress..."

"Beep, physical binding in progress..."

Oborozuki: ...I forgot, there's still one problem we haven't solved!

System: Please, boss, have mercy!
