Chapter 4 Selling Red Mushrooms

After picking these two flowers, the two walked for another five or six minutes before Shen Yunzhao sensed the presence of red mushrooms nearby.

She squatted down and pulled away the dead leaves, and saw a small red mushroom that had just emerged from the soil. The red cap was covered with dead leaves and soil, and it was wet, like a red elf.

“This one is beautiful!”

Shen Yunzhao picked the red mushroom and instructed Cheng Shaoyuan, "There should be one at your feet."

Cheng Shaoyuan immediately squatted down, pulled away the dead leaves at his feet, and sure enough, he found another similar red mushroom.

Both red mushrooms are very beautiful, of moderate size, and have not been eaten by insects. They are top-quality products.

The two walked a few steps and picked another one. This red mushroom was particularly large, about the size of an adult man's palm.

But this flower was fully open, and the cap had been gnawed by insects, revealing patches of white flesh here and there. The middle of the stem had also been gnawed by insects, and the stem broke with a slight pinch.

“What a pity.”

Shen Yunzhao sighed and put the red fungus back.

Maybe next year the red mushrooms will continue to grow here.

"Look here! I dug up a bunch of red mushrooms!"

Cheng Shaoyuan suddenly shouted excitedly.

When Shen Yunzhao walked over, he saw a group of five red mushrooms forming an irregular oval shape, two large ones and three small ones.

Cheng Shaoyuan laughed as he picked the fruits, "This is a family, right? Haha, mom, dad, and three kids."

Shen Yunzhao also laughed.

With the golden finger, their efficiency is extremely high.

Two hours later, both of their bamboo baskets were full.

"Go back!" Shen Yunzhao said.

"Shall we wait a little longer?" Cheng Shaoyuan seemed unsatisfied.

"There's no place to put any more."

"Okay! We should go home quickly."

After returning to the room, the two carried the bamboo basket to the living room and took out the dustpan that had been prepared long ago.

Place the red mushrooms one by one on a dustpan, and then place the dustpan next to a ventilated window.

After doing all this, they went back to the bedroom, took a shower and went to bed.

Normally, both of them didn't sleep well, but today they fell asleep with their pillows touching.

At 7 o'clock in the morning, both of them were awakened by Zhou Xiuqin knocking on the door.

"Yun Zhao, what's going on with the red mushroom in the living room?"

When Zhou Xiuqin woke up early in the morning, she found some red mushrooms drying in the living room. There was still mud on the bottoms of the mushrooms, and some of the mud was still wet. It was obvious that they had been picked not long ago.

She was stunned on the spot.

"Mom, that's..." Shen Yunzhao didn't know how to explain for a moment. He said they went to buy it. Who would buy so many red mushrooms for no reason?

"Mom, we plan to sell those red mushrooms." Cheng Shaoyuan interrupted Shen Yunzhao and said with a smile, "Mom, do we have a small scale at home?"

Zhou Xiuqin's attention was instantly diverted. "We have scales. Your dad has several in his shop. Do you want the old-fashioned ones or the digital ones?"

"Just the electronic scale. Oh, and do you still have the red bag?"

"Yes, yes, we have everything. What else do you want?"

"Let me think about it. Oh, we also need a QR code. We haven't had time to make it yet, so let's borrow the QR code from my dad's store first."

"That's fine. I'll ask him to return the money to you when the time comes. Please wait a moment. I'll go to your dad's store and get those things back."

Zhou Xiuqin ran out in a hurry.

"I think you should find some time to talk to Mom about the space issue," Cheng Shaoyuan suggested.

"Well, I was planning to find time to tell Mom about it these days."

Shen Yunzhao felt that the matter could not be delayed any longer. They might have to go to the mountains frequently to pick mushrooms or other things, and by then it would be impossible to hide it.

After washing up, the two put the red mushrooms in a bamboo basket, took an electronic scale, a red plastic bag, a QR code, etc., and set off for Dongmen Market.

Dongmen Market is the closest vegetable market to their home and also one of the largest vegetable markets. It is divided into several areas, including vegetable area, meat area, seafood area, dry goods area, live poultry area, local specialty area, etc.

Outside the vegetable market, many nearby farmers were carrying baskets on their shoulders and selling vegetables they grew.

It's not even 8 o'clock yet, but the place is already bustling with people coming and going, making it very lively.

Shen Yunzhao and his friends arrived too late. The open space outside the vegetable market had already been occupied by farmers carrying loads on their shoulders, and they couldn't even squeeze in.

They searched for a long time before they found a secluded corner with few people. It was opposite the market, under the eaves to the right of XX Bank. The advantage was that there was a road in front that could accommodate two cars, and there were five or six farmers setting up stalls here.

The two of them quickly put down their things and took out bamboo baskets, scales, plastic bags and other things.

“Is this your first time setting up a stall?”

I had just put my things away when the old man who was setting up a stall next to me started asking questions.

"Yeah. What's your name for an old man?"

While answering the old man's question, Cheng Shaoyuan took out a cigarette box from his trouser pocket, took out a cigarette and handed it to the old man.

The old man was stunned. Usually no one gave him cigarettes, so this feeling of being respected made him very happy.

"Just call me Lao Fan. I've been selling things in this market for over a decade, and I know everyone who's been here long-term. You're the only ones selling red mushrooms here, no one else."

Cheng Shaoyuan was delighted, "Uncle, no one is selling red mushrooms yet?"

"Of course. The Dragon Boat Festival hasn't even arrived yet, how could the red mushrooms be out so early?"

While the two were talking, a middle-aged woman came over.

"How much is this red mushroom?"

Shen Yunzhao took one and handed it to the woman, "Sister, we just picked this from the mountain. Look, the mud on the feet is still wet, how fresh it is."

The woman was a little tempted. "How much is one pound?"

“180.”

"So expensive!" The woman frowned and put down the red mushroom in her hand.

Cheng Shaoyuan quickly said, "Sister, red mushrooms are not yet on the market on a large scale. Go to our market and take a look. No one else sells them except us."

The middle-aged woman had just come out of the market and indeed did not see any other stall selling red mushrooms.

She hesitated for a moment and said, "Okay, weigh half a pound for me. But I want to choose it myself."

"Can."

After all, he was the first customer, so as long as the request was not too excessive, Shen Yunzhao would agree.

The middle-aged woman nodded secretly. She used to buy red mushrooms. The red mushrooms came in different sizes. The big ones were as big as her palm, and the small ones were only slightly bigger than her thumb.

Some of the red mushrooms have fully opened their umbrellas, while some have not yet opened, like flower buds.

Moreover, many red mushrooms have damaged surfaces, with a corner missing or the entire cap missing, leaving only a stem;

Some red mushrooms look good on the surface, but if you look closely, you will find that the stems have been eaten by insects and the middle is hollow;

The most important thing is that you are not allowed to pick the red mushrooms. If you want to pick them, the price will be different.

Of course, the reason she was willing to buy it was that the red mushrooms here were of good quality.
