Chapter 13 Capturing Enemy Spies (1/2)

"Xiyue, try the braised pork intestines my mom made for me."

At noon, everyone took out the food they had brought. Huang Xinrui picked up a piece of pork intestine from her lunchbox and put it into Li Xiyue's lunchbox.

Li Xiyue didn't stand on ceremony and picked up a dumpling to eat. It was soft and smooth, rich but not greasy, and very delicious. She gave two dumplings to Huang Xinrui, saying, "These were made for me by an old lady who is my neighbor. You should try them too."

Grandma Zhang's dumplings are filled with cabbage and pork. The cabbage is very sweet, the pork is very fragrant, and they taste delicious.

Huang Xinrui stuffed a dumpling into her mouth, gave a thumbs-up, and mumbled indistinctly, "Delicious."

Zhao Xiaoli was eating a coarse grain pancake. It was cold, and the pancake was cold and hard, making it difficult to swallow. She watched the two people opposite her eating pork intestines and dumplings, her eyes filled with jealousy. She took a bite of the pancake and ate it with gritted teeth.

"Young man, the train conductor said you know medicine. Can you take a look at my dad? He suddenly fainted." A young man in his twenties approached Li Xiyue and said anxiously.

Someone else has fainted?

Li Xiyue quickly scanned him, her gaze darkening slightly, and stood up. "Okay."

"Xiyue, I'll save some pork intestines for you to eat when you get back," Huang Xinrui said hurriedly.

Li Xiyue nodded and followed the man to the front carriage.

She was in a carriage near the front of the middle of the train. The further she walked, the fewer people there were in the carriage. When she finally arrived at an empty carriage, the man suddenly turned around and reached out to attack Li Xiyue.

Li Xiyue was prepared. She nimbly dodged and quickly grabbed his outstretched hand, twisting it forcefully behind his back. With her other hand, she pointed a silver needle at the carotid artery in his neck. "Don't move, or you'll die."

She sensed something was wrong as soon as he appeared and kept a close watch on him; sure enough, he was up to no good.

The man stopped in his tracks, gritting his teeth, "I underestimated you!"

I never expected such a delicate little girl to be so strong and quick-witted.

"Who sent you?" Li Xiyue asked, piercing the man's skin with a silver needle.

The man's body stiffened, and he quickly uttered a name.

Li Xiyue didn't hear clearly, so she leaned forward and listened intently, "Who?"

At this moment, the man suddenly resisted violently, quickly broke free from Li Xiyue's control, and ran away.

Trying to run away? Not so easy!

Li Xiyue took a step to chase after him, but after only two steps, the man returned.

He stiffened and retreated step by step, his eyes fixed on the front, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Just as Li Xiyue was wondering, a man in military uniform soon came into view.

He was in his mid-twenties, tall and imposing, with a cold, hard face and eagle-like eyes full of murderous intent, giving people a strong sense of oppression.

So you encountered soldiers. No wonder you were so scared.

With a formidable enemy ahead and pursuers behind, the man was drenched in cold sweat.

Seeing that there was no way to retreat, the man weighed his options and decided that Li Xiyue was easier to deal with. So he turned around and attacked Li Xiyue, but the soldier beat him to it, grabbed his collar, lifted him up by the back, and slammed him to the ground.

The soldiers were very fast; they completed this series of actions in the blink of an eye.

The man cried out in pain, but ignored it and scrambled to his feet, attacking Li Xiyue again. Li Xiyue kicked him in the stomach, sending him sprawling back down.

The man in military uniform strode forward, stepped on the man's back, and punched him hard in the head. The man groaned and passed out.

Li Xiyue sighed inwardly, "Such swift and decisive movements, such agile skills!"

"Thank you for your help, Deputy Regiment Commander Chu." Two policemen rushed out and thanked the man in military uniform.

Chu Xun stood up, his face serious. "You're welcome. Protecting the safety of the country and the people is what we soldiers should do."

The police saluted Chu Xun and dragged the man away.

"Comrade Li," Chu Xun approached Li Xiyue and asked, "Can we speak in private for a moment?"

If it weren't for him, the enemy agent might have escaped. Li Xiyue felt grateful to the soldier in front of her and smiled, "Comrade soldier, please speak."

Her skin was fair with a rosy glow, and her eyes were clear and bright, like a summer spring. When she smiled, her lips were red and her teeth were white, making her as beautiful as a delicate peach blossom in spring.

A vague emotion welled up in Chu Xun's heart. After a moment of silence, he introduced himself: "My name is Chu Xun, I am twenty-six years old, an active-duty soldier, a deputy regimental commander, and my ancestral home is Beijing."
