Chapter 131 Great Revenge Achieved (2/2)

Li Bowen felt a piercing pain in his back, but he couldn't care less about the pain and got back to work.

Finally, it was time to finish work. Li Bowen was swaying and about. It was too hot and he was too thirsty. His face was flushed red. He followed a group of zombies back to his lodgings.

"Li Bowen, there's a letter for you." When he arrived at his lodgings, a steward handed him a letter.

Li Bowen stared blankly at the letter for a long time, never expecting anyone to write to him.

This is the first time he's received a letter in so long. Who could have written to him?

Li Xiyue?

Impossible. She hates him, her father, and wishes he were dead. She would never write to him.

Wang Huilan?

That's impossible; she killed Liao Yujuan and has already been executed.

That would most likely be his son, Li Mingliang.

Thinking it might be a letter from his son, he eagerly opened it, read it quickly, and then stood there dumbfounded.

The letter wasn't written by my son; it was sent from a forest farm in Northeast China. The contents were related to my son. The letter said that my son had been swept away by a sandstorm and died!

His son is dead; his only son is gone!

The Li family line has ended!

Li Bowen felt dizzy and lightheaded, and his body lurched forward uncontrollably.

With a bang, dust flew up.

"Old Li? What's wrong?"

"Old Li, are you alright?"

"Help! Someone has fainted!"

Li Bowen had a dream in which he saw Liao Yujuan. Liao Yujuan asked him why he betrayed her and why he killed her. He blamed everything on Wang Huilan, but Liao Yujuan didn't believe him at all and turned into a vengeful ghost to take his life.

He woke up with a start and found himself still in the dilapidated hut on the farm. The sun was shining brightly, casting rays of light through the cracks in the roof.

There are people talking outside.

"Old Li is really miserable. He lost two wives, then his son, and I heard his youngest daughter is gone too."

"Yes, it seems he was caught cheating on his wife, and fearing punishment, he ran away to the deep mountains and was eaten by wolves."

"They ate until all that was left were bones, it was truly tragic."

"Luckily, he also has a daughter from his previous marriage. I heard that this daughter is very capable. After going to the countryside, she treated many people and was revered as a miracle doctor."

"My eldest daughter is very capable. She has found a military officer as her boyfriend, and I believe she will be able to return to the city soon."

"Then can Old Li go back now? His eldest daughter can't possibly abandon him, can she?"

"Why would you reply? His eldest daughter has already published a notice in the newspaper severing ties with Old Li and has long since disowned him as her father."

"Does that mean Old Li will have to stay here for the rest of his life?"

"I might grow old and die here."

Upon hearing this, Li Bowen's eyes widened like copper bells, and his chest heaved.

Li Muqing was eaten by wolves, Li Xiyue severed her father-daughter relationship with him, and his only son who could carry on the family line was gone. He could never leave this hellish place in his life.

how so?

This shouldn't be happening. He could have had a great life, how could he have ended up like this?

"Pfft—" Overwhelmed by anger, Li Bowen spat out a mouthful of blood and fell off the bed.

By the time the people outside heard the commotion and came in to check, the person had already died.
