Chapter 239 Busy Farming Season (1/2)

The three old men looked up at the sky together, and sure enough, it was raining. They got up, picked up their tools, and began to harvest the grain.

If the grain gets soaked in water, it's doomed.

They were harvesting non-stop, it was like a battle was being fought in the fields.

Xu Guoqiang, holding a megaphone, shouted at the top of his lungs, "Don't cut the unharvested rice yet. Bundle up the cut rice, bag the threshed rice, load it onto the tractor, and take it back to the warehouse for storage."

Thinking of the threshing ground, he added, "Dashan, take your group to the threshing ground to help with the harvesting. Be quick!"

Everyone followed his instructions, some tying, some loading, some lifting, and soon the tractor was full. Wang Jiaxing started the vehicle and drove off towards the granary.

Xu Jianmin and three old men had already gathered all the grain into piles when Xu Dashan rushed over with seven or eight men and started working without saying a word.

The group of more than a dozen people worked tirelessly, barely having time to catch their breath, and finally managed to collect all the grain before the heavy rain.

Xu Dashan led the young men to carry the grain away, while the three old men stood under the tree, panting and wiping away sweat.

Uncle Xu's old face was full of smiles, "At least the grain didn't get wet." As soon as he finished speaking, his eyes rolled back and he fell forward.

"Third brother!" Uncle Xu and Xu Yongfu grabbed him.

Uncle Xu quickly took his pulse and found that he was exhausted from overwork and high stress. He pinched his philtrum and called out, "Third brother, third brother, wake up."

"Sixth Brother, he's not awake, what should we do?" Xu Yongfu asked anxiously.

Xu Yongfu was half a year younger than Uncle Xu Liu, but he looked much older. When he saw the man collapse in front of him, he panicked.

Uncle Xu remained calm. "It's nothing serious, don't worry. Take him to the clinic and let my granddaughter take a look."

“My granddaughter is there too.” Xu Yongfu’s face was full of pride.

The two old men carried the person to the clinic and found that quite a few people who had fainted had already been carried there, and the clinic was full.

"What's wrong with Third Uncle?" Li Xiyue asked hurriedly after finishing treating the patient.

Uncle Xu said, "It should be similar to their situation."

“There are no beds available. Let Uncle sit down. I’ll take a look at him first.” Li Xiyue moved over a chair with a backrest.

After helping the man to sit down, Li Xiyue's diagnosis was similar to that of Uncle Xu: "He's overworked. I'll give him acupuncture to regulate his condition, and then I'll have his family come and take him home to rest."

"Grandpa, are you alright?" Xu Baiwei walked over and asked anxiously.

Xu Yongfu waved his hand with a smile, "Grandpa is fine. Weiwei, you go about your business and don't worry about Grandpa."

He was used to farm work, which was much more tiring than this before, so this little bit of work was nothing to him.

Xu Baiwei felt relieved and went back to her work.

Seeing the large raindrops falling outside, and soon a torrential downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning, Li Xiyue said to the two elderly people, "You should rest here for a while; it's too rainy to walk now."

"Yueyue, let me help," Uncle Xu said.

Since Xu Yongfu couldn't help, he said, "Then I'll sit here and watch over the third brother."

More patients were being brought in, keeping the clinic extremely busy.

Seeing his granddaughter following Li Xiyue, acting steadily and skillfully, with a calm demeanor and not a trace of panic, Xu Yongfu nodded approvingly.

His granddaughter has met a benefactor, and she's like a completely different person from before. He prefers his granddaughter now; she's confident, composed, responsible, and already has the demeanor of an adult.

He believes that his granddaughter will be as capable and successful as Dr. Li in the future.

Even if he and his wife were to pass away now, they could rest in peace.

Unlike before, when his granddaughter was all alone and he and his wife didn't even dare to die, for fear that if they died, their granddaughter wouldn't be able to survive.

Summer rains come and go quickly. After a torrential downpour, the sky clears up again, becoming as blue as if it had been washed by water, and the clouds become as white as if they were shining.

The patients regained consciousness and were taken home by their families.

There's still grain left in the fields, so the work has to continue. Except for those who are sick and get a half-day off, everyone else continues to work.

Summer rains come in waves, like surprise attacks, catching everyone off guard. For the next few days, it rained suddenly like this, and the villagers were exhausted.

After finally finishing the rice harvest, they then harvested peanuts, soybeans, corn, sweet potatoes, and potatoes.
