"It's a deal I made today, and none of you are allowed to take it from me." When they arrived at the state-run restaurant, Li Xiyue acted as extravagantly as a nouveau riche.
Xie Mingying didn't hold back at all, "Who's going to take it from you? Don't flatter yourself."
Quan Yicheng listened to the two little devils bantering and couldn't stop laughing.
"Give us one serving of all the meat and vegetables," Xie Mingying said to the waiter from the window.
Li Xiyue nudged her, "Wasn't it me who invited you?"
"I order, you pay, that's correct."
Li Xiyue looked pained. "Are you trying to eat me out of house and home?"
"It's the New Year, say something nice." Xie Mingying lectured earnestly.
Li Xiyue slapped her own mouth. "It was my fault."
Just as the two of them were joking around, ordering their food, and sitting down, He Yongmei and her siblings, along with Gu Sifan, arrived.
"Sister Xiyue." He Yongmei was so excited to see Li Xiyue that she ran over and sat down next to her.
He Yuanzhou then came over and asked, "Would you be so kind as to share a table with the three of you?"
Xie Mingying waved her hand dismissively.
He Yuanzhou happily went to order food.
"Sister Xiyue, I'm so glad to finally see you," He Yongmei said plaintively.
Li Xiyue laughed and said, "Sorry, I've been a bit busy lately and haven't had time to contact you. How is it? Is being a field medic very hard?"
She looked the girl up and down and saw that she was darker and thinner, but her complexion was good. However, she gave off a sad and melancholy feeling.
"It's alright." He Yongmei glanced at Li Xiyue, then hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but didn't.
Li Xiyue guessed something, but there were too many people around, so she couldn't ask too many questions.
He Yuanzhou and Gu Sifan ordered the food and came over. The group chatted about the past.
Everyone has changed a lot in the past year.
Quan Yicheng finally won the heart of his beloved, and Xie Mingying extricated herself from her wrong relationship and began a new one.
He Yuanzhou and Gu Sifan both joined the army, and He Yongmei fulfilled her dream and became a military doctor.
On the surface, Li Xiyue seems unchanged, still living a peaceful and tranquil rural life in the countryside.
But in reality, her changes were even greater than these; she made a windfall.
After a lively meal, He Yuanzhou suggested going ice skating, and Li Xiyue and the others agreed, so they went to the ice rink together.
Shichahai remains bustling and unchanged.
But the security situation seems to be better than last year; at least they skated for more than half an hour and didn't find anyone deliberately hitting people.
Li Xiyue was thirsty, so she asked Quan Yicheng to go out and buy her some soda. Xie Mingying followed her.
Just as she sat down in a chair to rest for a bit, He Yongmei came over and said, "Sister Xiyue."
"Yongmei, is something on your mind?" Li Xiyue felt a little hot and took off her scarf.
He Yongmei tugged at the loose thread on her glove, "Sister Xiyue, what if you like someone, but they don't like you back?"
She was indeed heartbroken over matters of the heart.
Li Xiyue glanced at her, then turned to the skating crowd and laughed, "Then forget it. As the saying goes, 'The willow catkins on the branches are blown away and few remain, but there are plenty of beautiful grasses everywhere.' If he doesn't like you, then find someone else. He Yongmei's voice was muffled, "It's not that easy?"
"Yongmei, do you have someone you like?"
