Chapter 29 Birth on a Donkey Cart (1/2)

Li Xiyue lifted the blanket covering Fang Yue'e and saw that she already had jet-black hair. "Auntie, the baby is about to be born."

"What should we do?" Sun Xia asked, somewhat panicked.

Li Xiyue reassured her, "It's alright, we'll help with the delivery first. Auntie has given birth before, so she should be more experienced than me."

At the beginning of the apocalypse, she had delivered babies and had experience, but she couldn't reveal it.

Sun Xia swallowed hard. She had given birth before, but she had never delivered a baby. She wished her mother-in-law had come instead, as her mother-in-law had experience delivering babies.

"Uncle Dashan, try to keep the donkey steady, Auntie is about to give birth," Li Xiyue said to Xu Dashan.

Xu Dashan's voice trembled with nervousness as he said, "Okay, okay."

Fang Yue'e's contractions were frequent and regular; when a contraction came, she couldn't help but cry out.

Li Xiyue guided her, "Auntie, you can't shout. Shouting will dissipate your strength. Just bear with it, gather your strength, and the baby can be born safely."

She's at such an advanced age, so having her first child must be more difficult than other mothers.

The child was Fang Yue'e's life. As soon as she heard that she could give birth to the child, she gritted her teeth and endured the pain.

Sun Xia and Li Xiyue each held one of her hands, and to prevent her from biting her tongue, they stuffed a handkerchief into her mouth.

Li Xiyue calculated the time, and when the contractions came, she said to Fang Yue'e, "Auntie, push, push like you usually do when you have a bowel movement, push evenly and slowly."

Fang Yue'e bit her handkerchief and, with all her might, did exactly as instructed.

Uncle Xu and Xu Guoqiang had been watching ahead with bated breath, and were secretly amazed to see Li Xiyue so calm and knowledgeable.

Xu Xiangyang had been watching the person in the car the whole time. He saw that she was calm and composed, and did not show any panic at all. Compared to Sun Xia next to her, she was unusually steady.

How can she be so calm and strong at such a young age?

"Okay, stop pushing, rest." After a contraction ended, Li Xiyue wiped the sweat from Fang Yue'e's forehead. "Take a deep breath and relax."

Seeing that she knew how to deliver babies, Sun Xia felt a little relieved. "Li Zhiqing, have you ever delivered a baby before?"

"No, but I've seen others deliver babies," Li Xiyue said casually, making it up.

Sun Xia looked at her with admiration and said, "You're amazing."

He really is a doctor; he learned it just by watching.

Fang Yue'e felt a tightening in her belly as another contraction began, and she instinctively pushed.

Li Xiyue encouraged her, "Yes, that's it, great, keep it up!"

"The baby's head is out, Auntie, you're amazing!"

"Almost there, almost there, Auntie! You'll see your baby soon, just one more push!"

Li Xiyue's encouragement shone like rays of light into Fang Yue'e's heart under the night sky. She was filled with strength. She bit her handkerchief, gathered all her strength, and with a mighty effort, something slid out of her body.

Li Xiyue nimbly caught the baby as it slipped from its grasp, and exclaimed excitedly, "It's born! It's born!"

As Xu Dashan drove the bus, he looked back excitedly and said, "Wife, thank you for your hard work. We finally have a child."

Uncle Xu and Xu Guoqiang clapped and cheered, and even Xu Xiangyang smiled.

Fang Yue'e hurriedly said, "Let me see the child."

"Why isn't the child crying?" Sun Xia asked softly.

Li Xiyue didn't hear the child cry either. Seeing that the child was limp, she quickly checked the child's chest, but there was no movement.

Fang Yue'e sat up anxiously, "Let me see the child!"
