Chapter 53 Li Xiyue is swept away by the flood (1/2)

After examining him, Uncle Xu confirmed that his leg was fractured. Without saying a word, Li Xiyue used a wooden board to immobilize his leg.

Then he took some pain relievers and swelling reducers from the medicine box that Uncle Xu had brought and gave them to him.

"How could you be so reckless? The house was about to collapse, and you still rushed over?" Jiang Chunxiu said to her husband with a hint of reproach.

Su Zhiyong was in less pain now and smiled as he comforted his wife, "If I don't rush over, my third aunt's family will be trapped inside. They're all from the same village, I can't just stand by and watch them die."

"Why don't you think about me and the child? What will happen to me and the child if something happens to you?" Jiang Chunxiu covered her face and sobbed.

Upon hearing this, Li Xiyue reassured her, "Auntie, don't worry, Uncle's injury will be fine if he takes good care of himself."

"Are you Li Zhiqing?" Jiang Chunxiu wiped away her tears and asked Li Xiyue.

Li Xiyue laughed and said, "Yes, I am. Aren't you Xinrui's aunt?"

Jiang Chunxiu nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, is Xinrui alright?"

"She's fine, don't worry."

Jiang Chunxiu breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good, that's good." She gratefully grasped Li Xiyue's hand. "Thank you for taking care of Xinrui, and thank you for saving my lover."

Li Xiyue shook her head, "You're welcome."

Liu Hongshao, who was standing to the side, looked at this scene with disgust in her eyes.

How come this vixen is so popular wherever she goes?

Not long after, the deputy captain of the neighboring Wangjia Village came over and said that someone from their village was also injured, so Xu Guoqiang had no choice but to lead his men to provide support.

Upon arriving at Wangjia Village, the situation was not optimistic. Several houses in the village were flooded. Fortunately, Deputy Captain Wang saw the danger and evacuated the villagers in advance. A small number of villagers were injured during the evacuation.

Li Xiyue and the other three immediately began treatment.

The rain showed no sign of stopping and continued to pour down, making people feel irritable.

Deputy Captain Wang handed Xu Guoqiang a cigarette, then took out a match from his pocket, lit it for him, and then lit one for himself.

Xu Guoqiang took a drag of his cigarette and sighed, "Our three villages, Xu, Su, and Wang, are alright. They're all on the same riverbank and can look after each other. But Zhang and Liu are on the other side. Now that the riverbank and bridge have been washed away, they can't even get across to check on the situation."

The Hongtaiyang Production Brigade consists of five nearby villages, all situated on either side of a large river. Xu, Su, and Wang villages are on the left side of the river, while Zhang and Liu villages are on the right. The villages are separated only by the river and are not far apart; it only takes a few minutes to cross from the bridge.

Xujia Village is upstream, Sujia Village is midstream, and Wangjia Village is downstream. So Xujia Village was completely unaffected, Sujia Village in the middle reaches only experienced some water accumulation, but Wangjia Village downstream was not so lucky.

If the rain continues, Wangjia Village will only become more dangerous.

"This isn't the medicine; this is a fever reducer," Xu Xiangyang said angrily to Liu Hongshao.

Liu Hongshao quickly put the medicine back and took another one. "Is this it?"

"This is stomach pain medicine!" Xu Xiangyang snatched the medicine from her hand and shouted, "Don't make things worse here, go back to the village."

"Taking medicine randomly can kill you. You little brat, you don't even know what medicine is, what are you doing causing trouble here?" the injured old woman said irritably.

Liu Hongshao clutched her hands, her eyes welling up with tears, on the verge of crying.

“I only said a few words and you’re already crying. You’re so delicate, you should stay home and not come out.” The old woman pointed to Li Xiyue beside her and said, “Look at her, she’s a really good doctor with excellent medical skills.”

Li Xiyue treated the villagers, bandaged their wounds, and fed them medicine in one go, quickly and effectively.

This stands in stark contrast to Liu Hongshao, who couldn't even distinguish between medicines.

Liu Hongshao disliked being compared to others, especially when that comparison was made to her imagined rival, Li Xiyue.

She felt extremely resentful. It was all Li Xiyue's fault. If it weren't for her, Brother Xiangyang wouldn't have been so mean to her, and she wouldn't have been humiliated like this!

If only there wasn't that vixen Li Xiyue!

Xu Guoqiang reluctantly looked away, flicked his cigarette ash, glanced at the sky where the rain showed no sign of stopping, and said, "The situation is not good. It would be safer for you to gather everyone and come back to Xujia Village with me."

A house can be repaired and rebuilt if it gets flooded, but it's crucial that no one dies.
