Chapter 77 She's an Enemy Agent (2/2)

Li Xiyue was certain that Zhao Xiaoli was lying, but she was curious as to why Zhao Xiaoli had tricked her into going to the cowshed.

Could it be related to the man in her room?

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go! If you delay and the calf's condition worsens, can you take responsibility?" Zhao Xiaoli was very anxious.

This anxiety isn't feigned; it's genuine.

Li Xiyue was genuinely intrigued by her, so she closed the door and went with her.

On the way, she pretended to ask about the situation, "When did the calf get sick? What were the symptoms?"

"It was a bit listless when it woke up this morning. I thought it was hungry, so I fed it. But it still had no energy all day, and that's when I realized it was sick," Zhao Xiaoli said.

Li Xiyue said "oh" and didn't say anything more.

The cowshed is at the west end of the village. There are relatively few people working there, only some children cutting pig feed and a few scattered villagers.

"Li Zhiqing, you're back?"

"Li Zhiqing, you are really amazing. You can even bring the dead back to life."

"Now everyone in the surrounding villages knows that we have a miracle doctor here. Li Zhiqing, you have really made us proud."

"Where did Li Zhiqing go? Is Xiao Niu sick?"

"Go quickly, with you there, Xiao Niu will be fine."

The villagers greeted Li Xiyue warmly, a stark contrast to their initial indifference when she first arrived.

Zhao Xiaoli, who was being selectively ignored by the villagers, almost ground her teeth to powder. No matter what, Li Xiyue, that bitch, was always so popular, while she was always the one being ignored and bullied.

Damn God, this is so unfair!

Then she remembered something and she wasn't so angry anymore. Soon, Li Xiyue couldn't keep jumping around anymore.

As the name suggests, a cowshed is a row of sheds built with tree trunks as thick as an arm, with a roof made of straw and bark, and some large stones placed on top to keep out the wind.

Besides the cows' living area, there were two equally simple houses next to it for people to live in.

Although the cowshed is simple, it looks very sturdy and was not affected by the last storm.

Or perhaps it's because it's a sheltered spot, where the wind and rain aren't too strong.

When Li Xiyue walked to the cowshed, the oxen she had rescued before started bellowing affectionately.

She stroked the ox's head and said with a smile, "Long time no see! How have you been?"

The ox nuzzled her head in response.

Li Xiyue then looked at the cow next to it, which was also a yellow cow with a tuft of white hair on its head and a very delicate appearance.

"Your wife is so beautiful," Li Xiyue couldn't help but praise.

This is the first time I've ever thought a cow has such handsome features.

The ox nuzzled its head against its wife, looking rather smug.

A calf that had been rooting in the straw came bounding over. It was very strong and full of energy, showing no sign of illness whatsoever.

The calf was very affectionate, its big eyes looking at Li Xiyue with great curiosity.

Why does Li Xiyue think the calf is also very good-looking?

"Didn't they say the calf was sick?" Li Xiyue turned to Zhao Xiaoli beside her and questioned her.

Zhao Xiaoli was staring at Li Xiyue and laughing, like a complete idiot.

Li Xiyue really wanted to punch her. Her smile was so ugly, it was really an eyesore.

Zhao Xiaoli was completely oblivious to her own ugliness; she was ecstatic, her smile widening as she exclaimed, "Li Xiyue, you're finished!"

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Li Xiyue couldn't stand her ridiculous behavior.

Can you imagine a dark-skinned, thin person grinning at you, revealing a set of white teeth?

Ignoring her insults, Zhao Xiaoli grabbed her arm, her eyes shining like light bulbs, "Li Xiyue, you don't know yet, do you? I came here for you."

"For me?" Li Xiyue shook her off.

If you're going to talk, just talk. Why are you sticking out those hands that are always scooping manure? Who are you trying to disgust?

Zhao Xiaoli said excitedly, "That's right, if it weren't for you, would I have come to this godforsaken place and put up with all this nonsense? But now it's all over."

She'd had enough of this for over a month. After today, she wouldn't have to stay in this place that was causing her so much pain anymore. She would have more money than she could spend, and she would go back to the city and live the life of a superior person!

Seeing her frantic state, Li Xiyue guessed that Zhao Xiaoli must be the enemy agent lurking beside her.
